Benny Golson - Tenor Saxophone / Composition

Benny was 90 during this performance and I wish I was there. There was once a guy stranded in an airport and all he wanted to do was go to New York and get Benny Golson's autograph.
Emmet got that fresh ass cut 🚫🧢
For the show, cos' it's a smoking show. But he forgot about the socks...
Such a beautiful song. It's incredible to see Benny still playing.
Quanti grandi jazzisti ci hanno dato la linfa vitale durante il corso della nostra vita!!!!!!Benny Golson è uno di questi!
Love how the very intense and dynamic trio pulled it back to this laid-back feel while maintaining the intensity.
One of my all time favorite tunes and Golson compositions…First version I ever heard was Roy Hargrove’s…can still sing Roy’s solo from memory.
Must be an honor to play this with the great ;)
Soloing in front of him staring to you 😮 I had the creeps in their place
Benny Golson 😩❤️
I still have 'Groovin With Golson' on Esquire from 1960. He sort of
bridged the gap between Don Byas / Lucky Thompson to the modern player..
I have it on CD. My favorite Golson. Also "Another Side Of." Love the man.
Benny Golson!!!!
Great Tune, I just got done playing it on my piano at my livingroom. God bless Benny!
Legend!
Merveilleux enthousiasmant intemporel :)))))
This say´s it all about music.
emmet and benny :D
El pianista es puro cerebro
That was Emmetly watchable.
I do prefer Emmet and his friends plying in NYC at Emmet's place. Much more intimate moments - this is a too sterile environment. Although the musicians are great. Thank you so much for giving us some regular joy during these crazy times
Dont get me wrong... I love Benny, but if you cant produce a decent sound and intonation... should you be doing this? Destroying your own legacy by playing badly your own tunes?
His legacy IS his love for music, as long as that is still there let him play…
very embarrassing and ignorant comment
@@nicoloboselli463 Personal attack is not an argument. Shaming people to get them to conform is not the way to go. There is nothing embarrassing or ignorant about my comment.
What you’re saying isn’t wrong even if it’s what people don’t want to hear. I think people just like the idea that it’s the real Benny Golson playing, and you can still get somewhat of a sense of his signature musical style and tendencies through his solo. Plus, it’s not just about him: it’s about the rhythm section, too, who sound fantastic.
But yea unfortunately, perhaps due to age, Golson’s lost some of it. 😔 it is what it is. You saw this with McCoy Tyner when he got older too. His solos weren’t as sharp as when he was younger
@@erichuang7524 Oh, the band is incredible, no doubt about it. And Benny in his prime was a living legend, I love his playing and did many transcriptions of his solos.
