"Live on, Kenshin. That way you'll be able to use the Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki as you please and you'll never again lose to the manslayer within you."
Anyone who has watched Kenshin can appreciate this pic. Look at his facial expression. He looks so reluctant, almost sad. He is feeling for his opponent, yet he knows he must draw his sword. It's testament to how far, and strong he has become.
That is true. But that it why it's a test of one's strength. To have all that strength, and not use it. To attain it at the cost of so much pain. To make a conscious decision to use it to protect, and not harm. To be able to bear suffering, but not let others suffer.

What Miss Kaoru says is sweet and innocent talk that only those whose hands have never been stained with the blood of men can believe. But, to tell you the truth, I much prefer Miss Kaoru's sweet and innocent talk over the truth, indeed I do!" -Kenshin Himura (Wandering Samurai)

I always liked how this song was sort of Hiko's at first but becomes Kenshin's later. The first time you see Kenshin fight with the fully master Hiten Mitsurugi style is against Aoshi and then this song plays again when Kenshin is changing Aoshi's mind. Which showed Kenshin was at a whole new level. The wandering Kenshin was strong but tried his best to avoid a fight with Sano because he wasn't sure if he could beat a dude that level without killing him. Kenshin with a full mastery of Hiten Mitsurugi is able to change the mind of someone trying to kill him which means he is a on a whole other level. The revolution Kenshin was strong but he wouldn't try to fight someone like Aoshi with books. He had his own struggles like with the dude who wrapped him in chains and the guys who set him up after a few monthes of farming.
All I can think of is Kenshin on his last legs, staring at Shishio as an inferno burns on in the background. This song holds so much power...it makes my eyes water admittedly.
I love Sano's monologue when this plays. Everyone stands up thinking if Kenshin could win. Kenshin is wounded, and breaths heavily. Yumi looks at Shishio, concerned he is running out of time. Timeless scene.
I love this song so much, it really brings out the hope in life, that even when you feel like you want to die there's always hope in life, it makes you want to keep fighting onward

"I see you've decided to leave the Imperialists, Himura. The real revolution is about to begin in Toba Fushimi, and now you've decided to quit. Where do you think you're going?" "Sir Seiku, I wish to now protect people into this new era without having to resort to violence." "Heh, if such a path exists, I'd like for you to show it to me. Listen to me, Himura. You cannot walk away now after having killed so many men! You must live by the sword, and die by the sword!! Take this!" "It's just a useless piece of scrap now, but it's more than enough for your journey. You'll soon realize such ideals are worthless dreams! If that piece of scrap metal ever breaks, return to Kyoto, and come to see me." If a picture is worth a thousand words, this scene alone was worth a myriad. It is incessant of what awe, what meaning, what truth this scene was, and to know what that Sakabato meant to this series.
Not just that if you've watched the OVA it makes it carry even more weight. It showed that a very caring and loving, but naive child with power almost brought ruin to himself but is finally brought to see the errors of his ways and tries to atone for them for the rest of his life. He still held true to the principles behind the Mitsurugi style even after leaving behind his life as a assassin.
