I was reared in Sligo, glencar and maugherow laterally, left there in 1987 and have been in Glasgow since. Hoping to sail to Sligo from the Clyde next year. In this video tour I see phenomenal changes to the town i,e, the building block used to be Kelly,s hotel where I had my first job at age 14 paid £7 a week. The glasshouse used be the silver swan hotel where I first met Liam Reilly of Bagatelle. The Sligo hotel wasn't there in my days, but great to see the Yeats building still there. Talking of Yeats, I took my son to a Waterboys concert in Glasgow a few years ago, it was called *A Tribute to Mr Yeats*, made up of a lot of his poetry converted into songs with composed music, it was fantastic. Far better than Burns!!☺️

I'm from the philippines, but if given the chance to travel i would visit this place first..so beautiful clean environment and peaceful..i think this is the best place to start a family and raise children..and would like to see my fav boyband westlife😍❤❤❤❤❤
Ha! Sligo regularly is high on the list of most untidy towns in lreland! The countryside is nice though. Strandhill beach has one of the most impressive collections of dog faeces anywhere in the country.

It's a horrifically Insular town, and the beliefs of multiple generations within it resonate the mindset of old fashioned institutions. Men darent even look at each other for fear of people thinking they might be gay, its an emotionally repressed environment that clearly hasn't caught up with the rest of the world, in fact being that it's definitely the effects of Catholicism at work Sligo and most of Ireland will never move forward. If you are heavily closeted and have severely repressed feelings to the extent that you have to cough at or even attack people then you'll be right at home in Sligo.
