This is THE BEST crumb recipe I have ever made. I just made it for the second time and used it on our cherry pie for Christmas. My husband is in love. We can’t wait to try it on other baked goods. Thank you so much!!!
I learned this from my mother when I was a kid in the early 50s. I use brown sugar, just made two apple pies with it because I didn’t make enough crust to cover the pies. My family loves pies.
I know how to make a crumble topping...I have so many times! It's my absolute favorite on a fruit (esp apple) but for some reason I just can't remember the measurements lol. This is my go to! Tysm!!!
INGREDIENTS 12 tablespoons unsalted butter 2/3 cup sugar (brown or white or a combination) 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour INSTRUCTIONS Grate cold butter into a large bowl. Alternately, you can dice it small. Add sugar: use all brown or all white or a combination to make 2/3 cup. Use whatever combination you like (I like using 1/3 cup each brown and white). Add flour and then, using a pastry cutter, work the butter into the flour and sugar until the mixture forms coarse crumbs. Use crumble as recipe directs, on a fruit pie or on muffins or coffee cake. Bake as directed in recipe. Quotes from the description!
@@pennyburt2835 Salt in baking cuts the sweetness. You can add a bit to icing if you've made it too sweet. It is safer to control your salt content yourself due to different butter having different salt content. I hope this answers your question. 💙

Thank you very much. I'm trying this recipe.... but... Would it be possible to have the recipe in grams? This is the very best way to be able to repeat always in the same way as the flour can be more compact or less etc.
How much does twelve tablespoons of butter weigh? By the time I fill twelve tablespoons it'll be too soft to grate! I like the idea of grating the butter. What temperature to bake it?
And brown sugar is my fav only cause white sugar is EXTREMLEY crunchy and chewy when you get chewing it...almost like a very chewy caramel. Brown sugar is my personal favorite
I believe you can. That’s why I’m planning on doing. Just keep an eye on it because it will be a thin layer spread out. It’s great when it gets crunchy though. 😊💫
Hi Crazy for Crust! Thank you for posting the video, I guess many people watching your video failed to look where you posted click down for recipe to see the amount of flour to use!! Thank you for sharing this super easy and delicious recipe! I prepared this xrumble for a 9 inch blueberry cake I made today, and I love how mild it is in sweetness. It's not overwhelmingly sugary but it was so tasty! And I don't know what you mean that this recipe is enough for one 9 inch pie... I had soo much crumble left over after topping my cake I definitely could've made two with it😄 I will definitely be using this recipe again❤👍
We own a donut shop in Ohio and we are trying to find a crumble that we can make to put on her donuts. I understand that you are making the crumble and then adding it to the pain and cooking the pie. We don’t want to add it to a pie we want to add it to our donuts which have like Apple Pay stuff on it and then add the crumble. Can you help us learn how to make the crumble without adding it to any type of pie?
Crazy for Crust thank you. We thought you had to add it to pay then cook it which one work for us so we just make this and then just add it to whatever we want to add it to. Thank you
Please note that viewers outside of the USA are put off by cupsful, spoonsful, pounds and ounces. Your recipes would be more user-friendly if standardised to metric because even a cup full in the US is not the same as a metric cup full. Col, NZ
And viewers in the US are put off by grams and whatever you use. I have an electric scale for metric measurements, but it is a messy way to cook. Hate it. Still, I make the effort instead of complaining to the creator Why don't you purchase one set of US measuring cups and spoons? It's not crazy expensive.
Turned out horrible. It was like too much flour and had little taste. Was very disappointed and wasted my peaches and butter which aren’t cheap ingredients.
Contrary to long held popular belief butter is actually good for you. Saturated fat is a required nutrient. Our brains are made up of mostly fat and cholesterol. Butter is brain food.
Just a thought, if you want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible use consistent metric or imperial measures. 12 tablespoons of butter, what does that even mean? Cups, I presume American cups, is also confusing if you don’t know the difference. Grams or ounces, simple!
@@CrazyforCrustRecipes because some pie filling you dont want to bake such as lemon pie filling. I find baking the filling gives it a weird taste. Thats why.

To all who ask how much flour... it is one and a half cups.
Have you tried adding Oats into the mix.
Just ran into this video is the butter better cold or crumble or room temperature
I usually do room temp because it's easier to mix in - not ice cold but not softened, kind of in the middle
That pie looks soo crummy!! Lol,))
