    I was shown this in college since for English class we read one of the stories from her book Love Medicine (it was also called Love Medicine).

    Also its easy for one who has a parent/grandparent that are enrolled to gain tribal enrollment status. However several Indian people did not claim themselves as Indian, therefore never enrolled even though they were Indian. Also many Indian woman lost their identities to white husbands often burning their birth records & leaving their families after marriage. I believe the US Gov should allow for a mixed-race enrollment for Indian people who can't gain status through 1 particular tribe.

    Often times tribes enforce these regulations more then the Fed. Gov. For instance 1/200th part Indian people used to be able to enroll. Now if u are under 1/4 it is not possible. Also some tribes like E. Cherokee req. genealogy tests to enroll that are not alway accurate. Louise didn't mention that each tribe has their own regulations. Also some people who are part Indian are unable to enroll in a tribe cause they are mixed Indian races & can't meet the req. of a specific tribal enrollment
