    Great tutorial! I was pretty familiar with the content but was good to breeze over it again to see I was doing things right and pick up the odd tip along the way. It was also reassuring to know the things I didn't bother with are actually not worth bothering with. This tutorial means I can give myself the big confident tick! Thanks.

    Great video Forest, thanks so much for sharing. I just wish YT wouldn't spoil videos like this by running ads every few minutes, nobody watches these ads and as soon as possible we click SKIP, so stop showing them, and advertisers, dont advertise on YT, nobody watches your ad, its just wasted money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @forestchaput
      @forestchaput  Місяць тому +1

      Luckily some of that ad money gets kicked back to us creators! But yes, I agree, there are far too many ads on longer videos like this one.

      @@forestchaput Thanks Forest, you've just taught me something. I never knew creators got some of that money, I`d certainly have no issue with that, its well deserved.. Thanks for answering me.

    Your teaching style is a real gift! Your short video about about the dialog box when saving a file as a tiff in Photoshop back to Lightroom was amazing. Lightroom makes it very confusing to understand but you made it very clear and easy. Thank you. Well done!

    Very good tutorial. Thank you. I have used LR since version 1 and your tutorial made me aware of options that I never use. May I suggest a Tutorial on ULTIMATE LR importing guide? I just found that the number of the file inside my camera is different from the number of the file in LR. Probably I set LR in such a way that it changes the number of the file. Please consider this tutorial

      That’s a wonderful idea! We have a basic importing guide, but maybe it’s time to dig a little deeper!

    I use a preset on import under the Filename Template Editor, which mine is: Year, Month, Day, Shoot Name and Sequence 001.
    Then in the right side panel under File Renaming, I check Rename Files and then I use a Shoot Name and under Destination I check Into Subfolder and name that the same as my Shoot Name.
    This is working just fine for my brain so far. When I go to export an image and do not choose to rename it in the export, won’t the export just show up as exactly the name I used upon importing?
    Thank you.

    Thank you for the quick reply. Uncommon on YY in that most comments do not get a reply, let alone this quick. One followup. I have created several export presets and have added them to the left preset panel under user presets. However, when I attempt to invoke one of them NOTHING changes on the main screen. What am I doing wrong. I assume by clicking ADD - that is essentially the SAVE function.

    • @forestchaput
      @forestchaput  22 дні тому

      Hmmm. Add will save them, but it will also save your current settings as that preset. Maybe try clicking between all of the saved presets and seeing if anything changes in the export window?

    Hey Forest! Very helpful video, I have a couple questions though.
    1) My client wanted “high resolution” images... what’s that mean if resolution means nothing?
    2) How would I adjust the long edge/ pixels per inch/ sharpen when a client is going to print and post to the internet? Do I need to export two different ways and have them download both copies?
    3) What is the best way to export portraits that a client wants to send to a lab to be printed on a large canvas?

    • @forestchaput
      @forestchaput  4 роки тому +1

      High resolution just means uncheck “resize to fit”.
      I would export two versions. One with resize unchecked and another with 2000 px on the long edge for the web.
      For prints, JPEG, sRGB, no resize and be sure the print is cropped to the same aspect as the client is hoping to use.

    • @ivybencheck6624
      @ivybencheck6624 4 роки тому

      Rocky Mountain School of Photography what about the resolution for portrait exports for clients to print?

    • @forestchaput
      @forestchaput  4 роки тому +1

      @@ivybencheck6624 It makes no difference. It's just a conversion factor between inches and pixels. Any print lab or even Target will be able to scale the resolution accordingly. If it makes them feel better, just put it on 300 because some people think that automatically makes it "high resolution." 😀

    You never show how to get exported photo on desktop to Instagram. How do you do that?

    • @forestchaput
      @forestchaput  Рік тому

      You can use something like google drive or even emailing those photos to yourself. You can upload them onto google drive then open google drive on your mobile device and download them from there, or you can email them to yourself from your computer then open up your email on your mobile device and download them from there. Those are just two of many ways to get them from your desktop to your mobile device to post on Instagram. Hope that helps!
