    Please redo the comparison with a spec foam (like crawler innovations dual stage foams), so the only difference is the tire

    Love your videos, but please re-do this test with the same foams in each. Preferably Proline dual stage or crawler innovations Lil' Nova dual stage. I would really want to see the difference in the tires themselves rather than which has better single stage foam.

    I just switched from Predator compound Hyrax's to Rock beast XL's in Alien compound. Mainly for the scale aspect. That being said, I LOVE my hyrax's and do not plan on getting rid of them. I'm gonna buy another set of rims to keep them on so I can switch between the 2

      That is true. They break in really well. By the third battery pack, they reach their full potential.
      One thing a wise man told us is to was any brand new tire vigorously, twice with a stiff brush and dish soap. this will get the oils out that are on the tire left during the manufacturing process. We will do this on all other tire videos and not evaluate them absolutely brand new.

    We’ve got a few videos on our channel of 2 TRX’s crawling with rockbeasts and the hyrax where you can compare the 2 different tyres; we’ve always found the rockbeasts are much more effective over nearly all terrain... just to clarify too, both TRX’s are stock other than cosmetic changes

      We’ve another with the two sets going live tonight, but yeah both are using the foams that came with the tyres, maybe it’s the area we live because of the smooth rocks and grainy dirt but we’ve just never really gotten on with the hyrax too well...
      Having said that, the Hyrax have only been used a handful of times and we didn’t like the rock beasts at first either because they just seemed to struggle with everything before they were worn in, so maybe I’m saying all of this a little too prematurely but like I said from what we’ve experienced so far, the rockbeasts are our preferred of the two

    At 1:12 if you had a hardbody with weight would those tires gripped more? I love hardbodies and that's all I run. I want new tires but need something for a heavy truck. What would you recommend or anybody recommend.

    • @ConditionZero76
      @ConditionZero76 3 роки тому

      non moving weight on the axle as low as possible is what you want, a heavier hard body is only going to make matters worse even tho I agree they look great. the hardbody causes high centering which in turn lifts & or flips the truck. you want everything from the axles up as light weight as possible, only use brass on the hubs, Portals, castors etc.... Good luck

    • @ConditionZero76
      @ConditionZero76 3 роки тому

      & any of these tires would work great for you, but if you have a heavier rig 8lbs plus I recommend you run 2 stage foams. I own Rockbeast 2 xl, Hyrax, flat irons, Krawlers there all great I lean towards the Rockbeast tho they're phenomenal in all conditions & a scale tire. hyrax are from scale but perform great...

    Can you compare the G8 compound with the predator? I've been on the fence about ordering a quality set of rock tires but still not sure what's best. Like everyone I want maximum grip on all surfaces and decent tread life! I'm sure that tire doesn't exist yet lol.

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel 5 років тому

      For grip, Predator compound is softer, tackier and better. It will outclimb the G8 in dry and wet in almost all conditions.
      It's downside is it will wear faster and can get damaged torn easier when abused or caught in bind.

      I've been driving the KLR Gold for 3 years and they still perform. Recently bought Hyrax G8(too hard for my light comp rig), Hyrax Predator (medium compound so I've got no faith in those either.) Louise Champ (very soft sticky rubber)matches KLR Gold on straight up dry conditions buts corners worse. Heavily modded Louise Griffin (super soft)shows promise at the moment. Removed every other outer lug, and one lug at center pattern to open it up. Really made a huge improvement! I will buy the KLR Rex when those can be found at a reasonable cost on ebay. My testing only applies to dry conditions and a light rig.

      I've seen Hyrax clones (with softer compound than g8) beat G8 on YT tests, and in my own test Hyrax clone doesnt stand a chance against KLR Gold. Ive also got Hyrax Predator but I dont bother testing them since the compound is harder and not ast sticky as KLR Gold. Some Louise tires is better on flat dry indoor surfaces so now I'm experimenting with Griffin pattern mods. To me those might be able to be comparable to KLR Gold when modded. Rockbeast is not as good as KLR on the light rigs I've seen. I dont know why everyone rave about the Hyrax when it has hard rubber and never beats KLR in any YT tests...

I still haven’t tested the tires or foam but the foam in my hyrax is like memory foam in a pillow..... almost. Had to be the best bet. I have used hyrax after using stock on my trx 4 and I have cheap plastic but weighted wheels with the hyrax and steel wheel with the flat iron which I fee weighs less. Helps a lot.
