What I like about NCT is that each unit has a bit of their own uniqueness in their sound. NCT Dream typically has more of a fun and youthful sound to their music. NCT 127 uses a lot of hip hop and r&b elements in their music. And WayV has a lot of orchestral and rock elements uniquely embedded in their music.

For the sake of not arguing with people, I usually go along with saying WayV, in the simple terms, is C-Pop. But to me, I think they're more like a hybrid of both Kpop and Cpop, Chinese Kpop? (Be prepared for a long a** explaination) They are kpop in the sense that they're a subunit of a Kpop group, they are trained/produced/and managed by a Korean company the same way they do a Kpop group, and their songs are very much the "kpop" style, with the only difference being the language it's sung in. BUT, they're Cpop in the since that majority of the members are Chinese, the songs are mainly in Mandarin, and their main market is China. The "chinese Label" Label V, is literally just SM Entertainment in a wig. It's essentially just a "label" they created so WayV wouldn't run in to conflicts promoting in China since SM is a Korean company (the Chinese/Korean political tension was really bad during WayV's debut period). They literally use the same SM building, same rooms and equipment etc as the other SM artists, everything is mainly Korean based. There really isn't a clear definition of what makes a group or song Kpop or Cpop, but it's more than just the language it's sung in. Like, when a Kpop group releases Japanese songs, they're still considered Kpop idols and their Japanese songs aren't really considered Jpop. Or when Little Mix released a Korean version of "Wings" they were still considered a Pop group and their Korean version of their song is not "Kpop". Sorry if I caused more confusion, as someone who has dove in to Cpop before, I just don't fully see WayV as Cpop nor do I see them as fully Kpop. But in terms of "Turn Back Time" there literally is a Korean version of the song too and It's produced by western producers (alot of Kpop, particularly NCT songs are) sooo Is it Kpop or is it Cpop? Idk, I think it can be considered both. Either way, it's a great song.
to clear this up, wayv said in one of their interviews (l'officiel philippines) that they're neither kpop nor cpop. they address themselves as an asian pop or simply just wayv pop. you're right when u said they could be a breed of both but yeah it was really confusing at first bc they're a group under a korean company, a subunit of a kpop group, a chinese subunit but functions as a kpop group and sings in 3 diff languages. even the members have complicated diversity as they're all of a chinese decent but literally from diff parts of the world. this makes them unique tho wc i love about them.
I should probably also mention, that the best thing about WayV is their b-sides… I honestly like their b-sides way more than the title tracks and they have a totally different sound🌸 it’s more synthy r&b pop than what you saw in these videos… for a taste, check out After Midnight😎

Technically WayV debuted with the Mandarin version of "Regular," which was originally NCT-127's song. But "Take Off" is considered their official debut song because it was their first release that was all theirs. Because WayV (which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- hence the lines "the face of Vision" in the lyrics of "Turn Back Time.") is part of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's storyline. You just have to come to accept that everything you see from SM will be connected to SM's Culture Universe, and it's all part of a giant drama or movie -- it's just another chapter in the story. Since the creation of SuperM, where they are now taking members from each of SM's most popular groups and creating an Avengers supergroup, I think that was SM's first indication that from now on we need to pay attention, because all of its groups' MVs are somehow connected. If the SuperM Avengers are coming together to help EXO stop the Red Force, I think the members who are part of SuperM are the liaisons who are helping to connect all the groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT and WayV -- together. For example, right after SuperM released "Jopping," WayV came out with "Moonwalk" and I think "Moonwalk" is pretty much a continuation of "Jopping's" storyline, and now I think "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back" are also part of that story. With NCT's dream concept, they could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories. One thing that I find interesting about WayV's "Take Off" MV, is that if you watch "Take Off" with an eye for looking for connections and theories, an argument could be made that the storyline in "Take Off" may have been designed to connect WayV -- and more specifically, Ten and Lucas -- to "SuperM's storyline. "Take Off" came out even before we knew that SM was even considering creating SuperM. But with all that I know about how SM spends years working on creating stories and connecting storylines between MVs and between its groups, it wouldn't surprise me if SM may have been planning ways to draw connections between WayV and SuperM even way back when the concept for "Take Off" was created. If you notice, there are several "superhero-like" elements in the "Take Off" MV that are similar to SuperM's and EXO's storyline and they could potentially be connected. "Take Off" is also another part of NCT's dream concept, so what you are seeing in the MV could also be interpreted as different things to do with dreams and dreaming. Real things like the dream of wealth, the dream of fame, the dream of the perfect body (LOL), as well as things that only happen when you are literally dreaming, such as the wings and Ten's glowing eyes, etc. I even see parts of the story in "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back" that could be connected to SuperM's recent MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)." When Lucas is suspended in the air in the MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)," I see similarities to the fact that he is supposed to be a fallen angel in "Turn Back TIme" who is also floating in the air. Lucas doesn't have a shirt on because he has just had his wings ripped off or removed, so he is shirtless because he is recovering from whatever happened to him. You see the scars on Lucas' back because they wanted you to see his wings have been torn off. I also wonder if WayV actually has the power to turn back time, similar to Tao's superpower in EXO -- will it be their job to help fix the problems in EXO's and SuperM's storyline by turning back time? ("5, 4, 3, 2,1" -- they are counting down and turning back time. The end move in the choreography was designed to show time had abruptly been stopped and the momentum of their movements caused their body to tremble like that, etc.) And, if you notice, Ten and Lucas have a pivotal role in the storyline in "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back." I think this might be because they are members of SuperM and they are coming to gather the other WayV members to bring them into the fight. Maybe in "Turn Back Time" the WayV members are cut up and injured because they have been involved in the battle as they help SuperM take down the Red Force. And I think "Kick Back" can be interpreted as being about WayV taking back control and fighting back against the Red Force. So on that note, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines are being designed to connect stories and plots. It's all part of SM's Universe. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together there are threads of connection between the groups. And that includes EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee's storyline. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen. As part of NCT's Mandarin Chinese sub-unit, not only do the members speak, Mandarin, Korean and English, but Ten is from Thailand so he speaks Thai, Lucas is from Hong Kong so he speaks Cantonese and a little Thai because his mom is Thai; Hendrey is from Macau China so he also speaks Cantonese; and Yangyang grew up in Germany so he speaks German. WayV is a very international group that speaks many languages, but they all have Chinese heritage which is why SM chose them to be a part of this group. So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or their all English version of "Love Talk," or if you happen to pick the Korean version of "Turn Back Time.") But their songs are primarily in Mandarin. Fun fact: As you heard, the MV for WayV's "Love Talk" is an all English version, but if you listen to the album you will see there is a Mandarin version of the song, as well. SM just chose to only make an MV for the English version. If you enjoy WayV's dancing, you really need to see their dance practice videos for "Take Off," "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back." You should consider pairing your reactions to their MVs with a reaction to the dance practice that goes with the song, because almost everything any of the groups within NCT does will have a dance practice video to go with it. NCT is known for their dancing and their impressive choreography.

Yeah I do get what you meant by when you said that you haven't seen many people saying that Hendery is awesome because he maybe under appreciated at times. He really is very talented and as you have mentioned his rap flow is really unique and impactful. He has also take part in writing Lyrics for many somgs for WayV's album and my personal favourite being "Only Human". The songs which he is credited in writing lyrics are "Stand by me", "Only Human", "Electric hearts", "We go nanana" and "King of hearts" (he is an amazing lyricist and we hope to see more of that is future). Moreover he himself said that he took part in translating lyrics of "Nectar" (from Resonance album) from English to Chinese. I do recommend you to check them out ( if you do, please take care of one thing, make sure to check the pinned comments and description of the colour coded videos of those song if you check them out on youtube as sometimes the maker of those videos gets confused between the voices of the members and label some lines sung by a memeber to another). Hendery has been learning to play drums for quite some times now and has posted videos of his drum cover on his instagram and WayV's channel too ( we might get a new one soon tho). He is very humble, genuine and kind towards his members and fans too and have often told them to be confident and believe in themsleves.

wayv really awakened something in you huh, we love to see it. nct in general got hella hoe anthems (Baby Don't Stop, Whiplash, 119, and Baby Don't Like It being a few notable ones) but WayV's hoe anthems in articular are always super... out there xD Although I've gotta say, I highly prefer the Chinese version of Love Talk. I just think Mandarin is such a beautiful sounding language, and the lyrics of that version are so much better. Most of WayV's Chinese versions of any English releases they have are much more poetic and meaningful in their lyrical content. Unfortunately I think the disparities in popularity are mostly due to the NCT infinite members concept. The members who debuted earlier tend to be some of the most popular just really due to having greater exposure and a longer amount of time for fans to grow attached. WayV is a pretty damn new subunit really so this effect is exacerbated. Plus, Lucas and Ten are both in SuperM which no doubt contributes to their popularity. There is also one other thing that I have noticed in NCT- the vocal specialist members tend to be less popular than members who are more rap or dance orientated. Think of the 7th Sense squad- all 5 of them are some of the most popular members but the least popular is Doyoung by a fair bit. In NCT 127, Taeil is the least popular, Chenle in Dream, Kun in WayV etc. My theory is that this is simply due to the fact that vocals are less flashy than rapping and dancing so these members are biased less. Kun's my bias in WayV but I do really like the other members of WayV. I also get the feeling that they are all incredibly close.
Yay! We've been waiting for this one. Wavy was the sleeper group for me. I find myself listening to them a lot. Their English songs are pretty good. They definitely have a more sexy vibe. 7 visuals doesn't hurt. I feel like they really gel as a group. I've noticed it a lot since starting my Czennie Era. 🥰❤

For the sake of not arguing with people, I usually go along with saying WayV, in the simple terms, is C-Pop.
But to me, I think they're more like a hybrid of both Kpop and Cpop, Chinese Kpop? (Be prepared for a long a** explaination) They are kpop in the sense that they're a subunit of a Kpop group, they are trained/produced/and managed by a Korean company the same way they do a Kpop group, and their songs are very much the "kpop" style, with the only difference being the language it's sung in. BUT, they're Cpop in the since that majority of the members are Chinese, the songs are mainly in Mandarin, and their main market is China. The "chinese Label" Label V, is literally just SM Entertainment in a wig. It's essentially just a "label" they created so WayV wouldn't run in to conflicts promoting in China since SM is a Korean company (the Chinese/Korean political tension was really bad during WayV's debut period). They literally use the same SM building, same rooms and equipment etc as the other SM artists, everything is mainly Korean based. There really isn't a clear definition of what makes a group or song Kpop or Cpop, but it's more than just the language it's sung in. Like, when a Kpop group releases Japanese songs, they're still considered Kpop idols and their Japanese songs aren't really considered Jpop. Or when Little Mix released a Korean version of "Wings" they were still considered a Pop group and their Korean version of their song is not "Kpop". Sorry if I caused more confusion, as someone who has dove in to Cpop before, I just don't fully see WayV as Cpop nor do I see them as fully Kpop.
But in terms of "Turn Back Time" there literally is a Korean version of the song too and It's produced by western producers (alot of Kpop, particularly NCT songs are) sooo Is it Kpop or is it Cpop? Idk, I think it can be considered both. Either way, it's a great song.
to clear this up, wayv said in one of their interviews (l'officiel philippines) that they're neither kpop nor cpop. they address themselves as an asian pop or simply just wayv pop. you're right when u said they could be a breed of both but yeah it was really confusing at first bc they're a group under a korean company, a subunit of a kpop group, a chinese subunit but functions as a kpop group and sings in 3 diff languages. even the members have complicated diversity as they're all of a chinese decent but literally from diff parts of the world. this makes them unique tho wc i love about them.

Technically WayV debuted with the Mandarin version of "Regular," which was originally NCT-127's song. But "Take Off" is considered their official debut song because it was their first release that was all theirs.
Because WayV (which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- hence the lines "the face of Vision" in the lyrics of "Turn Back Time.") is part of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's storyline. You just have to come to accept that everything you see from SM will be connected to SM's Culture Universe, and it's all part of a giant drama or movie -- it's just another chapter in the story.
Since the creation of SuperM, where they are now taking members from each of SM's most popular groups and creating an Avengers supergroup, I think that was SM's first indication that from now on we need to pay attention, because all of its groups' MVs are somehow connected. If the SuperM Avengers are coming together to help EXO stop the Red Force, I think the members who are part of SuperM are the liaisons who are helping to connect all the groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT and WayV -- together. For example, right after SuperM released "Jopping," WayV came out with "Moonwalk" and I think "Moonwalk" is pretty much a continuation of "Jopping's" storyline, and now I think "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back" are also part of that story. With NCT's dream concept, they could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories.
One thing that I find interesting about WayV's "Take Off" MV, is that if you watch "Take Off" with an eye for looking for connections and theories, an argument could be made that the storyline in "Take Off" may have been designed to connect WayV -- and more specifically, Ten and Lucas -- to "SuperM's storyline. "Take Off" came out even before we knew that SM was even considering creating SuperM. But with all that I know about how SM spends years working on creating stories and connecting storylines between MVs and between its groups, it wouldn't surprise me if SM may have been planning ways to draw connections between WayV and SuperM even way back when the concept for "Take Off" was created. If you notice, there are several "superhero-like" elements in the "Take Off" MV that are similar to SuperM's and EXO's storyline and they could potentially be connected.
"Take Off" is also another part of NCT's dream concept, so what you are seeing in the MV could also be interpreted as different things to do with dreams and dreaming. Real things like the dream of wealth, the dream of fame, the dream of the perfect body (LOL), as well as things that only happen when you are literally dreaming, such as the wings and Ten's glowing eyes, etc.
I even see parts of the story in "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back" that could be connected to SuperM's recent MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)." When Lucas is suspended in the air in the MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)," I see similarities to the fact that he is supposed to be a fallen angel in "Turn Back TIme" who is also floating in the air. Lucas doesn't have a shirt on because he has just had his wings ripped off or removed, so he is shirtless because he is recovering from whatever happened to him. You see the scars on Lucas' back because they wanted you to see his wings have been torn off. I also wonder if WayV actually has the power to turn back time, similar to Tao's superpower in EXO -- will it be their job to help fix the problems in EXO's and SuperM's storyline by turning back time? ("5, 4, 3, 2,1" -- they are counting down and turning back time. The end move in the choreography was designed to show time had abruptly been stopped and the momentum of their movements caused their body to tremble like that, etc.)
And, if you notice, Ten and Lucas have a pivotal role in the storyline in "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back." I think this might be because they are members of SuperM and they are coming to gather the other WayV members to bring them into the fight. Maybe in "Turn Back Time" the WayV members are cut up and injured because they have been involved in the battle as they help SuperM take down the Red Force. And I think "Kick Back" can be interpreted as being about WayV taking back control and fighting back against the Red Force.
So on that note, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines are being designed to connect stories and plots. It's all part of SM's Universe. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together there are threads of connection between the groups. And that includes EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee's storyline. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen.
As part of NCT's Mandarin Chinese sub-unit, not only do the members speak, Mandarin, Korean and English, but Ten is from Thailand so he speaks Thai, Lucas is from Hong Kong so he speaks Cantonese and a little Thai because his mom is Thai; Hendrey is from Macau China so he also speaks Cantonese; and Yangyang grew up in Germany so he speaks German. WayV is a very international group that speaks many languages, but they all have Chinese heritage which is why SM chose them to be a part of this group.
So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or their all English version of "Love Talk," or if you happen to pick the Korean version of "Turn Back Time.") But their songs are primarily in Mandarin.
Fun fact: As you heard, the MV for WayV's "Love Talk" is an all English version, but if you listen to the album you will see there is a Mandarin version of the song, as well. SM just chose to only make an MV for the English version.
If you enjoy WayV's dancing, you really need to see their dance practice videos for "Take Off," "Turn Back Time" and "Kick Back." You should consider pairing your reactions to their MVs with a reaction to the dance practice that goes with the song, because almost everything any of the groups within NCT does will have a dance practice video to go with it. NCT is known for their dancing and their impressive choreography.

Yeah I do get what you meant by when you said that you haven't seen many people saying that Hendery is awesome because he maybe under appreciated at times.
He really is very talented and as you have mentioned his rap flow is really unique and impactful. He has also take part in writing Lyrics for many somgs for WayV's album and my personal favourite being "Only Human". The songs which he is credited in writing lyrics are "Stand by me", "Only Human", "Electric hearts", "We go nanana" and "King of hearts" (he is an amazing lyricist and we hope to see more of that is future). Moreover he himself said that he took part in translating lyrics of "Nectar" (from Resonance album) from English to Chinese. I do recommend you to check them out ( if you do, please take care of one thing, make sure to check the pinned comments and description of the colour coded videos of those song if you check them out on youtube as sometimes the maker of those videos gets confused between the voices of the members and label some lines sung by a memeber to another).
Hendery has been learning to play drums for quite some times now and has posted videos of his drum cover on his instagram and WayV's channel too ( we might get a new one soon tho).
He is very humble, genuine and kind towards his members and fans too and have often told them to be confident and believe in themsleves.

wayv really awakened something in you huh, we love to see it. nct in general got hella hoe anthems (Baby Don't Stop, Whiplash, 119, and Baby Don't Like It being a few notable ones) but WayV's hoe anthems in articular are always super... out there xD Although I've gotta say, I highly prefer the Chinese version of Love Talk. I just think Mandarin is such a beautiful sounding language, and the lyrics of that version are so much better. Most of WayV's Chinese versions of any English releases they have are much more poetic and meaningful in their lyrical content. There is so much to love about all the members. Even if just 10 out of 100 ppl notice how amazing Yangyang, Hendery, xiaojun and kun are these 10 really do and love them because there is so much reason to love them. It just feels different because maybe 50 of these ppl notice ten or Lucas. Like I said I don’t mind anymore. There are thousands of fans who love all the members. I do so too. Just to let you know. A lot of ppl talk about Lucas and ten but there are a lot of fans who appreciate them all. Number wise kun is the least popular. Unfortunately I think the disparities in popularity are mostly due to the NCT infinite members concept. The members who debuted earlier tend to be some of the most popular just really due to having greater exposure and a longer amount of time for fans to grow attached. WayV is a pretty damn new subunit really so this effect is exacerbated. Plus, Lucas and Ten are both in SuperM which no doubt contributes to their popularity.
There is also one other thing that I have noticed in NCT- the vocal specialist members tend to be less popular than members who are more rap or dance orientated. Think of the 7th Sense squad- all 5 of them are some of the most popular members but the least popular is Doyoung by a fair bit. In NCT 127, Taeil is the least popular, Chenle in Dream, Kun in WayV etc. My theory is that this is simply due to the fact that vocals are less flashy than rapping and dancing so these members are biased less.
Kun's my bias in WayV but I do really like the other members of WayV. I also get the feeling that they are all incredibly close.

Little tip for recognizing members in the MV since you seemed to struggle with Xiaojun and Hendery, and Kun and Yangyang in take off. Knowing the postitions can be really helpful. Since Xiaojun and Kun are singers and Hendery and Yangyang are rapper, you can rule the rappers out if the member is singing and other way aroung. Maybe it makes it easier for you (?)
