Wow! This is amazing! I am a descendent of Amelia Bassano Lanier and knowing that I am from the line of the woman who wrote the works under the pen name of Shakespeare, just absolutely convinces me that these same traits in her, were passed down to me and my children. Thank you, John Hudson!
@nike onanuga I’m engaged to a Lanier, a ginger with an Afro and bubble butt. Her surviving bastard child was a distant relative of Queen Elizabeth I, and the great grand nephew of Anne Boleyn, who were definitely white.

I apologize for not moderating this discussion properly. To be fair to Shakespeare, my personal belief is that he probably paid for the plays as a producer. This would be a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why his name appears as responsible for their creation. The scandal that would have ensued had Amelia been properly credited may have even overshadowed their merit. If we can examine the credit for these works as the ONLY way for them to have been created, then we can be more forgiving to all involved.
do you really believe he paid for the plays as a producer? I may join you in that belief had they been written by a man. Since it was written by a woman I have zero faith that he paid for them, in any capacity.
+Clyde Zackery I think yes. My only evidence is Amelia's debts after Shakespeare died and the subsequent publishing of second folios (with improvements) . These folios were published by Amelia's cousin.

@@clydezackery_hootie26 I do because of the debt that Amelia suffered after Shakespeare's death. Remember there are second folios that were written and sold (by Amelia's cousin) after Shakespeare died. I believe this was an attempt to help Amelia pay her bills.
Interesting research and thank for your incredible research work Mitchell. I will certainly be purchasing these Literary works of hers and your book. Some years ago we learned the same thing about Mary Seacole the Caribbean Nurse who Nursed the British soldier's in the CrimeanWar and wirjed with Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale stole all her work and got the credits. The truth always come out. I will certainly purchase the books. Mitchell, please advise where we can buy these books and yours to buy❤
Hi Carrol. Thanks for your comments. This work is all John Hudson. I am just the messenger that was fascinated with his work. We have explored a full length doc several times but our schedules have not permitted. Mr. Hudson's book is on Amazon: a.co/d/7xbYJQT
@nike onanuga Oh I see you are commenting this when you can.. Quincy Jones is a Lanier as well, so you are right some are black, but a lot of Lanier’s are white. It’s a mixed family if you look at the tree, which I do because I’m going to have children from this bloodline.
This is a single segment of the interviews with John. He writes about this in his book. The non-specific term "Black" needs context of the time. I think its fair to examine the "Dark Lady" references as a double meaning pun of "Hidden" and "Black".
stop with the Blackwash. Her father was Marocan Jewish from Venice and her mother English, back then even Italians were considered black compared to the pair English people. She was not African. Stop rewrite history.

Well, I don't see any harm in this sort of speculation. Even those 'models' of scholasticism - the Stratfordians - resort to guesswork over the identiity of the 'Fair Youth', the 'Dark Lady', or 'Mr. W. H.'
One of the main problems is that Amelia Bassano Lanyer lived in Italy. Shakespeare's knowledge of Italy is laughable. The plays demonstrate over and over again that he has idea of 17th C Italian geography or social structure.
NO. She was born in the UK. Her mother was Italian so she spoke Italian and her father was Jewish, so she also knew Hebrew. Shakespeare lived in the UK, which didn't have many Jews, so how did he write in fluent Hebrew, and Italian?? They were 5 years apart, both born in the UK?? So they could have crossed paths. And what about his book the Dark Lady? Coincidence?
@@starblue1647 Her father was from Venice, and her mother was English. Little is known about her. Her father, grandfather and great grandfather were all baptized Christians. It is uncertain whether she had any Jewish ancestry.
The Bassanos, were court musicians who had come to England from Venice at the end of Henry VIII's reign. Emilia was born in January of 1569 in Bishopsgate, England. She had a child by the cousin of Queen Elizabeth I, the mans name was Henry and he was Lord Chamberlain to the Queen. His mother’s name was Mary and his aunts name was Anne, their last names were Boleyn.. Emilia’s son is the great grand nephew of Anne Boleyn.
