Ja, n behoorlike bord lekker kos! Nothing to beat that. And what a friendly lady. This was another little town we used to drive through. Seems bigger now. I love that you stop for railway sidings, it's the sort of thing we used to do. Laughed at the chair. Love the farm stall, can see myself having a good breakfast sitting by the fountain. Gorgeous! The church with the wagon wheels is so beautiful. And yes I think that is petrified wood in the walls. Pity you couldn't get inside. Don't ever stop filming churches.
I am quite surprized with Senekal and what the town offers. Very nice place and well maintained. The Padstal is also very nice. Nice place where you stayed over. Free State in all his glory. Thank you for this stunning trip. The next one is already booked for me
Paid Senekal a fleeting visit in 1979 (when the roads were in perfect condition). Indeed, the friendly inhabitants you commented on made the visit worthwhile. Beautiful rustic guesthouse you were hosted at.
I have heard so much about Senekal and now glad I have seen part of it...quite a lot bigger than I thought. But man...that lekker bord boerekos made my mouth water! Sjoe that must have been very nice.
Boerekos is the best! We loved everything on those two plates and waddled of to bed, completely stuffed! 😁🥘 I'm so glad you enjoyed the drive through the super friendly town of Senekal!
The last time I drove through Senekal was in December 1996. I can remember it being a small town back then and it took literally a few minutes to drive through. From what I can see now is that Senekal has expanded or branched out tremendously since 1996 ! 😊👍
At first, I thought you had said, "Senegal." 😂 I would say various parts of NW Cape and the desertified areas of Northern ZA remind me of Arizona, similar geomorphology. The mountain ranges are probably what triggers the comparison. Mesas or table tops. Having lived in Namibia, I'd say it reminds me more of SW USA, including Arizona. The lovely vegetation of ZA, well... the beauty is incomparable. 😊
Hi guys clean and tidy also friendly what more can you ask ? The NGK CHURCH Was stunning love the statues the petrified wood walls with wagon wheels unbelievable the voortrekker monument as always is so emotive for me every time I see them .as you say if the swimming pool is functioning the towns doing well .your accommodation was topnotch lovely gardens. Imust mention the lady who did your food so friendly. I enjoyed Sonias descusting of the activities was spot on. Shame about the old station I am so glad i was able to see the railway functioning properly when i lived in SA. Great to see the show grounds being used appsolutly loved the voortreker wagons must be the traveller in my blood. Thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
I'm always so happy to hear from you and especially happy that you still enjoy travelling with us! You've joined us on so many kilometres through this beautiful country of ours and we look forward to sharing many more with you. 😍🇿🇦 Senekal was a fantastic stop for us. It's a great town and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring it with you. You're indeed super lucky to have seen our railway system when it was still functioning. Those days seem to be sadly gone forever. 😢🚂🛤️
We haven't been to Senekal for many years, but my husband's sister lived here and we had many visits to them throughout the years. Love to see that the town is so clean (and friendly as Sonia said!).
Hi Dustbugs, Thank you for the tour. We normally sleep over when we come from P.E. But when we come from Durban, we usually have something to eat at the Padstal you showed us. I have never explored the town, and now i dont have to as you did it for us. I always love your work ❤
Goeie video Curtis...Sonia. Famous Afrikaans poet Dr A.D Keet was a medical docter in town, birth place of Dr Nicolaas van der Merwe [vertaler van die Bybel in Afrikaans], also Boer traitor [ABW2] Fanie Vilonel's grave in cemetry
“Lekker eet!”
My business partner always maintains that if someone places their name in their business then more often that business surpasses expectations. One could easily recognize this with the OK and your customer experience. The lady who greeted yourselves (and us all) beklemtoons (sometimes its better said in Afrikaans) that experience and her love for her customers and career is chorused forever. Scheepers OK obviously treats their staff as well as they treat their customers. We seldom experience that kind of customer service from the corporate supermarket chains. My lasting impression of Senekal...a surprisingly great town, with amenities in mostly great shape for its people and a great clean swimming pool too...I cannot wait to go exploring these areas too and to hopefully stay at Dennebosch, we too are also greatful for their sponsorship 😊
Hi Curtis Sonia and Dusty, I'm thoroughly enjoying the Free State, towns I have and have not heard of, but now get to experience and enjoy ❤. Looks like you found the potholes in the town😊. Safe travels 🥾🥾 on to the next one ❤
Senekal......It is a lovely stop over and neat town. I only ever driven passed. Your proper food looked very good🎉🎉❤🎉🎉 I got another one for your t-shirts..... yoh!!!! It's WILD 🤭
The church was used as a hospital during the Boer war. There's an info board near the gate on the south side of the church which gives very interesting information regarding the species of petrified trees. If I'm not mistaken, former rugby star, Toks van der Linde was born there. The pool was restored & reopened by private persons & businesses.
Hey, thanks for your cool videos, I’m somer lekker homesick. I’ve been living in the UK for 20 years now and love your videos of the small towns. I grew up in the eastern free state. Die padstal used to be a huge tuinwinkel ( nursery). Hope you go to Paul Roux, where I grew up. Please drive along 6 Joubert straat, would love to see our old house. 😉 your trips look awesome, would love to do it one day 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi you two! I really enjoyed this pothole-less trip. Senekal is much bigger than I thought. Nevertheless neat and well equipped. The old church is beautiful and the petrified trees used to build a fence very unique. There are some other surprises as well, not the least of which the Jeyes Fluid! Thank for the effort to put in to these informative trips. Until next time. Keep safe!
It gives me such joy to see you're still exploring this beautiful country of ours with the two of us! It's been 25 trips so far and counting! 😍🇿🇦 And so appropriate that I'm enjoying a cuppa while I respond to you! ☕ Senekal was quite the relevation and also quite a bit bigger than we anticipated. The petrified wood at the church was an interesting first for us. We have so many more places to share with you and I look forward to that so much. 🚙😁
I think maybe the bird picture is a Lammergaiier (sorry if I spelled it wrong). My grandma had one called Damos as well as an African vulture called Koos.
The Senekal show was on the 04/05/06 of April. The ox wagons are not for living in. They use to be used for the transport of goods. The swimming pool was reopened this year after being closed for close to 30 years. Sasco is no longer in operation. I believe it was closed after a strike. The church is only used on "special" occasions as the center of town no longer have enough members to justify it. It is however maintained by a group of "volunteers".
Good day guys, best UA-cam channel about Mzansi by far... Is there a chance you will do South Western KZN some day? Places like Ixopo, Underberg, Kokstad, uMzimkhulu, etc?
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy our videos, 🚙🇿🇦 Our goal is to visit as many towns in our beautiful country as is possible to do safely, so chances are good that we'll still visit some of those places. I film out of the window, so we try and avoid places with a high density of people in or close to the roads, where my camera could be at risk.
Die is besonders.. jul het een gedoen oor my hometown ook.. Danielskuil.. Baie memories gebring. Dankie.. jul dalk n LYS van al die padstalle wat jul al gesien het? sal graag wil sien
Farmstalls are just one of so many things we visit and find interesting on our travels, so we haven't made a separate list of farmstalls only. We do love visiting them though whenever we're close and have the time. 😁🏠
Your dialogue could be more informative e. G. What church, what street, etc... Brush up a little on what you're narrating to us viewers, so it is polished? Would be more enjoyable to listen to, thanks
Our goal is certainly not to produce more 'polished' content. We're a husband-and-wife who travel for fun and we have chosen to share our experiences with those who may enjoy our videos for what they are: authentic travels by normal folks. 🚙😁 We're not keen to burden ourselves with excessive research or info, but instead love exploring the lesser-visited places and documenting them as we go. It remains entirely your choice to watch.

Thanks guys, a much bigger place than I thought. Lovely VRYSTAAT!!!!!🙃🙏🎶🎶💕
South African cities are mostly abandoned aesthetically places, but at the same time, they look nicely cozy.
I am quite surprized with Senekal and what the town offers. Very nice place and well maintained. The Padstal is also very nice. Nice place where you stayed over. Free State in all his glory. Thank you for this stunning trip. The next one is already booked for me
Oooi I been away sorting out a new Wi-Fi....I have some catching up to do. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 can't wait

Born and bred in Senekal... still only one traffic light... the place has gone to the dogs, but seeing this, still brings back memories!

Clara, I agree with you. Let’s call it the jam of wild watermelon. I never liked it, prefer watermelon.

@@DustBugsTravel The joy is mine!

I agree with Curtis, that is a Bateleur or Berghaan. The Lammergeier is also known as the Bearded Vulture.
