Really appreciate this. James is very engaging, real & personable in this sit down. He had an incredible presence on stage and was an amazing rock drummer.
As a guitarist, when I go to concerts, I usually watch the guitar players, but when I saw the Scorps, James was so entertaining, couldn't stop watching him. He was a great entertainer.
Lovely interview, thanks for posting this. The industry suffered a huge loss when James passed on. Great drummer and great performer to boot. I saw him perform the first time during the Eye To Eye tour and was just blown away! #ripjameskottack🥁
I... fucking... LOVE the first Kingdom Come record!! And for 2 reasons - excellent songs, and James's KILLER drum tracks! I saw them for that Monster's of Rock tour back in the late 80s at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia and they blew EVERYbody off'a the stage that day. RIP, Jimmy K.
James was a very great drummer.....a very good man. Do NOT forget he made Kingdom Come Rock....very upset. By FAR the best Scorps drummer. James was from Kentucky.....and very good intrrviewer you did sir.
I saw him with Scorpions, in Brazil. Insane drum solo, one of the highlights, buy his T-Shirt, Rock N Roll Forever. Albuns like Unbleakable, Acoustica, Humanity Hour 1 immortalize you. RIP James.
Sad. I got into watching Ex-Wives of Rock episodes late this past fall. James seemed like a nice guy. What a great career he had. Hope he's at peace. Condolences to his family and friends. Thanks for the announcement and interview upload. 🙏❤️🕊️🌹🌈
Oh man sorry to hear the news James I just passed away surprised and sad I know that he's crossed over and I hope he finds peace with his demons and he's okay may he rest in peace for eternity😢🎉🎉🎉🎉💔
I had a chance to meet James at Ron Wood's club Woody's in Miami Beach in the late 80s . Our band was playing and I let him sit in and play my drums. He ended up comping me tickets to the monsters of rock show that weekend. He was a real nice guy. RIP brother.
He’s from Louisville. I grew up, watching him play at the toy Tiger when he was buster browns drummer. He was a legend among Louisville musicians, and after that the whole world.
I also have been into watching Ex-wife's of Rock. I always get a laugh from Athena. Got to witness James and her marriage struggles and their own individual personal struggles. I was the youngest of three children who's parents divorced. I was too young in the court system to make the decision of which parent I wanted to live with. I could see Athena's frustration for understandable reasons and I could at times see the pain on James' face (when he was sober). Yesterday, I thought to myself, "Why is James Kottak coming to my mind?". I went and looked up Athena online and of course it has family members and ex-spouse, etc. I clicked on James Kottak. I saw James birthday and then I saw Date of Death. I'm like, "Is someone playing a sickening joke? What is today's date? I look and see that it was the same date of his death.". I feel for the kids, Athena, other family members, and friends. I realize that Athena and James were divorced and had a rocky marriage but James is still her children's father.
GREAT entertaining drummer~With too many Demon's..Even in this interview~Alot of fidgeting around with his hat..Hair etc..Tweaking movements...R.I.P James
last Kottak attack ( heart) ....i met him in Montreal in 1988 , he saw me play with my band DDT , he pays me a beer ....cool guy ....unfortunately maybe he was too much on the party through the years....not sure....condolences to the family....
Hey i saw you guys played in a club in Quebec city in the early 80s, don't ask me the name of the club thought, I can't remember. In 86 I moved in Montreal and started to play clubs with a band that became later heaven,s cry, maybe you heard of them. anyway, those were the good old days. Lol. Take care.

Wow! Bummer 😕 May he rest in peace. I saw his first tour with Scorpions and several concerts through their 2012 "retirement tour." Amazing drummer.

Rip James Kottak, you will be missed
Rest in peace
James was a powerhouse drummer. We all have our own issues, we all behave somewhat incorrectly at times. Sadly missed.
Wow, how sad, RIP brother
Rip James Kottak 🥁👏
Glad I got to see him one last time....RIP
Little mountain produced some the biggest albums ever. The sound especially the drums were amazing there.
Rock In Peace James.

He was a great Drummer, I know why he left Kingdom come, i wasn't sure why he left the Scorpions.

RIP
I saw the monsters of rock in Buffalo and Metallica played 4th, right before Van Halen.
Did anyone here buy any of James' drums or cymbals? I tried to buy a 22" China about 5 months ago from him but he never called me back. RIP
I did see his kit for sale in craigslist ads, but it was way above my price range.
RIP
that really sucks!
Mikkey D...you're up
He kinda looks like he's been doing way too much speed. I know a couple of guys with those "jowels". Not to mention that he doesn't stop talking.
He was a severe alcoholic for many years but He looks okay here compared to the last thing I saw of Him about 6 years ago.
Great drummer. He didn’t look well here. Sad.
Wery bad news...
What happend to him?
Rip buddy 🏳️🌈🤘🏻
No surprise
James to skinny, he needed help.
Is this him recently? I can tell the difference in his appearance. Didn't catch his face at first.
Saw him 2003 with scorpions dokken white snake
