cant wait to get my 56 montclair running again, got it inherited from my grandfather and when i was going thru it, i checked the trunk and there was a 6 pack setup with everything needed sitting there in a box. so might be dropping it on there.
One of the best looking American v8's. Heavy wall casting with very few square lines. Mostly smooth contours and curved lines. Especially the Thunderbird 312 in its factory red paint.

I had a 272 bored to a 292 with a 268H 3/4 race cam with three two barrels and it sounded just like that one. Me and my dad also ported and polished the heads, a lot of internal balancing also, it would rap so fast it never would hold a distributor it would chuck the bushings out of it.
A 3/4 race cam? I prefer a 7/8 race cam. Some people go as far as a 15/16 race cam, but they're overkill... The Ford Y block - A heavy, long-stroke, low-RPM, stacked-port, main-leaking, rocker-squeaking piece of low-horsepower junk

Sounds pretty lumpy, but yellow? I recognize those burn the F out of you exhaust manifolds. Hated those damn things. I had a 57 Ranchero w/292, 3spd, in high school.
From our research, all ford pickups in 56 had yellow engines. It was a darker shade, probably closer to Case industrial. But this was all VHT offered in high heat engine paint. The exhaust manifolds have VHT Flame proof. Have had real good luck with it.
@@wifeswapperbg7 Who knew? OK, so perfect then for a stock-ish restore. I have yet to see any VHT or any other header paint that will really last on cast iron exhaust manifolds for long, but I hope it works for you. They are easy to touch up for a show & shine though. You could also have them ceramic coated if it became a big problem.
@@x-man5056 The first set i did was on a 4.2v6 ford in an airport tugger about 5 yrs ago. It gets used a lot, but not hard. And they still look good. Its a 3 step cure process, if you just spray it and run it, it burns off immediately.

All the technology in the world cant create soul like these old engines have.
Love the intake and block color. Got me thinking about changing to the yellow for our Thunderbird. 55 Black T-Bird.😊

Did'nt hear the dog bark, more like coughing.

I love when people still build flatheads, old oddball 50's motors, and into the 60's.
Had a Cammed Up Balanced "Y" Block in a 34 -5 window , wish i still had that thing it was a beautiful engine!
You gotta love barking dog cams.😀
Sounds like a nice rebuilt stocker with cast iron manifolds. 2 barrel pick up truck engine yellow. I hope this was after cam break in.
I actually hear the barking dog!
The bark will be more aggressive when the cherry bombs are hooked up in the truck.
It took me a seconds & a few bark’s…. I burst out laughing shortly after. Great name for a cam company.
Verycool cool

This is for customer so its very high on the list.
Why is it that ALL FORD V8 engines sound so much better than all other V8's
I think it has a lot to do with firing order on the Y block.
The dog lobe seems to be slipping on the camshaft, sort of random. Maybe you could tighten it down.
The 312 was a running sumbitch. Every bit as good as a 327 Chev. In trucks much better.
That engine looks almost exactly like the one i had w/oil bath air filter on the 56' F600 i had yrs ago. same engine color
