I work 4:30pm-1:00am and I like it. I get to sleep in and stay up late. The only problem with 2nd shift is you either get a long morning before work or a long night after work. You can't have both. Or you can split the difference. I'm usually up until 4 or 5 in the morning and wake up around 12 to 1 in the afternoon. But there are times I'll fall asleep early and wake up at 9 and have more time to chill or run errands.
Appreciate the comment Darren, I'm trying to Branch out and make some videos that have a wider range of viewers. So far no luck but eventually I'll get a good one. I found there weren't many videos on this topic and oddly enough there weren't even many views on the existing videos. Any update on your Channel?
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It is so strange to me on how hard it is to find anyone covering this topic, not only on UA-cam. I am struggling with the cons of second shift, specifically having only two available afternoons/evenings a week ie Sat and Sun. It also doesn’t help when your shift is the “closing” shift. Which then pushes back one’s time even more, because that makes it less likely to leave at one’s scheduled time. Making it difficult to consistently wake up early enough in the day to reap the benefit of having morning/early afternoon free for most of the week.
Yeah I hear you. You don't mind me asking what type of job is it? Did you start second shift yet or are you still on first shift I'm to give any insight I can
Currently I am on 2nd shift, in about three weeks I will have worked this shift for a year. I work in manufacturing. This is my first job with mandatory OT. There is insufficient staff for the business demands. And as a result there has been a lot of mandatory OT. Currently scheduled for 58hrs a week, working 6 days week. And that overtime won’t end until sometime next year. It started a month and a half ago or so.
@63Reed I got you maybe you can make a video about it.. I agree with your point there's not a lot of information on the internet about it. I'm back on first shift now and I got to say I do prefer first shift I get off at 3 p.m. everyday which is nice

Hey Greg, thanks for this video. Also, are you allowed to have your headphones in listening to music while you work? It seems like if you’re around running machines all day then the work atmosphere might get a little mundane. Your thoughts on this?
Yea I hear you, some people do it low key with like a little Bluetooth ear bud. I never do it but I've seen a lot of people do it. If you need to have hearing protection and you might not be able to get away with it depending on where you're at
Real simple I throw a small crescent wrench a medium-sized flat head screwdriver and a small flat-head screwdriver in my pocket. That covers more than half of the repairs.. then I got a bag with a multimeter, different size wrenches, Allen keys, wire strippers (sometimes in the back pocket), electrical tape... stuff like that

I like the second shift because I'm not a morning person plus I'm off on the weekends.

I get off 10pm still don’t sleep till 5 or 6 am get up 12 to go work 2pm
