It needed a new shortblock (ideally an entire new engine, even) and i just didn't want to keep throwing money into that pit.
@@sys-administratornot necessarily. They're very durable so a 100.000km Adam will run about 10.000€. Rims are quite cheap since they're old, maybe 200-400€, Cup2 500-700€, CAE 1000€, Coilovers 800€. Runs about 13000-15000€ total. I'd wager. Used parts will obviously be cheaper, although harder to come by. Compared to the 50k+ Tracktools with engine swaps, cages, big brake kits and so on, this is definetly on the affordable and reliable side.
Yeah, watching them full send a shitbox Saab convertible was great fun. At the other end of the spectrum, stuff like the pinderwagen, cars that just have no business being as fast as they are. A BMW M4 is very technically impressive, how it can both be a comfortable daily and animal on track and they can churn them out at on the assembly line and I'm sure it is great fun to drive. But I can't bring myself to care watching them.
Shame you didn't get better track conditions for this one. They were used as the junior cup class in rally for a while and they looked quite happy to turn in. I basically forgot these existed, thanks for reminding me.
Even in its standard form, the Adam S is a quick little car and great fun to drive. I've just picked up a neat & tidy 2017 S in excellent condition with FSH. It's the only car over recent years that I actually look forward to jumping in and driving.
Why that? 185HP...Thats way more than needed for 200. My Calibra does 243 with 170HP Topspeed. And the Astra H Caravan i owned, did 208km/h with just 115HP. (with other Springs 30mm lower, less airresistance, with stock springs it just went 198km/h). So, 185HP is more than enough to drive 200+

Great little cars and sound amazing. Definitely get the yellow stuff out the car. They are only good for fast road use. Personally I don’t rate EBC and would be using something like DS2500 in them. Far superior pad. I faded a set of yellow stuff in 4 laps. Absolute 💩
@@bengunn07 2500 is miles better than yellow or blue stuff pads. I had yellow and they were trash. I’m on blue stuff and still don’t rate them. 2500 could take 15 minutes of absolute thrashing every time without fade.
@@bengunn07 definitely not a road pad since they aren’t technically road legal. But I’m not sure what experience you had but when I swapped to yellow it was unreal how poor they were in comparison. I’ll either go back to DS2500 or maybe try RPX

the engine is derived from Chevrolet Cruze, chassis and gearbox Fiat Grande Punto Abarth Evo (obviously everything re-adapted) the same chassis platform was shared by Alfa Romeo Mito

I'd prefer the adam since the Abarth really is just a Fiat 500 with a different engine and suspension. It's a lot more cheaply made and they only have 5 gears for some reason.

@@yeeted42069 well if you look at it that way the adam s is also nothing more then a regular opel/vauxhall adam with diffrent engine and suspension and not even a OPC model...both opel and fiat have´nt been known for the very best in build quality in the past...both had the image of being rust buckets that rusted as soon as they left the showroom... but in my opinion both have improved a lot since the 90´s. and we´ve got to honest and admit that no matter if abarth or OPC you always pay more then they are worth just for the badging. at the end of the day both adam and abarth are cars were you pay for the design not so much the quality or performance, other cars are better in those points...but both are future classics that are loved and have very stable resale value. both cars have there pros and cons...the adam has a higher quality interior, better adjustable steering and seating position, and more electronik assists, and a 6 speed gearbox wich probably makes it the better daily...on the other hand the abarth comes out of the box with better performance specs if you get a pista,tourismo,or competizione model with brembo brakes and koni suspension and up to 180 hp...and not to mention the unrivaled sound of the abarth especially with the monza exhaust. i think it´s just about personal prefrence and budget with these 2 cars...at the moment you can get a good adam with low milage for under 15k were as a good facelift model abarth starts at 15k and goes up to over 20k. if we are totally honest you really have got to love these kind of cars for what they are wich i do to pay that kind of money for a used micro sports car, and when all is said and done if you wanted to play it safe your probably better off buying a fiesta st or something like that for that kind of money.
Oh no, not at all. We barely have any options when it comes to parts. Basically 2 manufacturers for adjustable coilovers, 1 for static coilovers, 1 big brake kit (330mm), 3 or 4 usable exhaust options, 1 single choice for a bodykit (Ingo Noak) Thats basically it.
Question: is the JP Performance video coming this year? I want JP his passenger seat and you driving. Just for the Gesichtskirmes. I think there was a vote or something about that..
Might also be due to the shape of the car. It's not that aerodynamic. But in all honesty, it's not made for ultra high speeds. The gearbox has pretty short gear ratios. Mine is mapped to 175 and tops out at about 235km/h speedo in the flat.
its pretty fast up to 170-180 kph, its still a 1.4T engine. It needs about 220hp to feel the sweet spot. Mine is also about 185 with 98ron fuel and it feels much better than stock

The sound is needed to go to a tuner because they come very silent from factory - no exhaust system need to take the resonator off (cheap and great sounds) or make a special exhaust system (expensive), but it has no relation to Abarth very different cars.

I would compare more to a 500 Abarth, considering car and engine size. But yeah, small and fun
Cooper is heavier but has more hp. Adam is probably better in bendy roads while the mini will pull harder in the straights

DS2500 are equally unsuitable for track use in my opinion. Ds3000 or the EBC RP range would be better. The others are just fast road pads.

It has a temporary overboost so it will take a bit of power out after a while, even on a remap.
Adam s in stock form IS not the lightest 3.70m car on the market... Mine with half a tank : 1180 kilos.

@@arekb5951 yep, the rally cars used Oehlins suspension, the "old" 1.6 Engine, sadev gearbox, and AP Racing Brakes.
Aftermarket parts for this car are lacking, there’s hardly anything. It’s a shame because they performed amazing in their rally class

Legally usable in Germany is the VMAXX 330mm kit. You can technically use the OPC 4 piston caliper but it's not legal to use in Germany at least.

Engine hp is 185/190, wheel hp probably like that.

No, it's on the SCCS platform made for the Punto originally, but also used for Corsa D&E. Abarth has a similar 1.4T engine but is a different car.
