    I should have made this clearer ➡ Callaway also has the Rogue ST Max (the one in this video is the ST Max LS) which they say is their "most forgiving" driver. In testing, I didn't find much difference between the Max LS and the Max except the LS was slightly longer with seemingly no difference in dispersion on off-centre strikes. So I think the ST Max LS is the better for most golfers 👍

      Peter, I still use a 5 year old driver and am happy with it but one of my friends is a fitter at TruSpec (one of the premiere fitters in the US). He said that without a doubt the driver that has fit the majority of golfers is the Cobra (with its varients). He said that second was a distant second.

    What shafts were used in the drivers mate? Would you do a video on the difference in forgiveness, swing speed etc. between say a reg flex and X stiff shaft in drivers?

    I play a Cobra LTDx after playing a Ping G425 SFT, I find the Cobra for me just as forgiving as the Ping. I tend to believe that the many of the manufacturers all have reached about the same level of forgiveness in this category of drivers. I think you nailed it when you mentioned the “feel” factor leading you to choose the Callaway, that was the same thing that was the deciding factor of my choosing the Cobra because I found everything else equal when I compared the 2 on the course over a few weeks. I really appreciate this type of content as it relates to my skill level, please continue the great videos.

      I've hit the LTDx but for me Ping G425 max is way more forgiving for bad shots(heel and toe, especially toe hits on LTDx are pretty bad). If you hit LTDx well then true it is a pretty forgiving and good driver also.

      I have a Cobra LTDx driver as well. It is the most forgiving driver I have used, and it doesn't matter even with off center hits still finds the fairway. Was recommended to me by the club fitter at the box store I was in. He said after the young salesman picked out the most expensive drive, do you hit the center every time? No, I don't. He went and got the Cobra driver and three shafts. Spent an hour fitting me. Absolutely the most forgiving driver I have used no matter where it strikes the face.

    I'm now playing the LTDx LS and I find it to be very forgiving. It is very long even on off-center strikes. I'm so happy with it. My miss with it is now just a light fade. My old Nike was a consistent left miss with the odd snap hook. Square up the LTDx and it is dead straight and super penetrating. Love it. It also launches impressively, even dialed down to 8 degrees.

    I just bought the Callaway Rogue ST Max D and absolutely LOVE it! Let me give some reference on my opinion of my new driver. I've played golf about ten years and my first driver was the Callaway Great Big Bertha with a Bassara shaft on it. When I bought that driver, I tested every single women's driver that Golfsmith (now Golf Galaxy) had. That was about ten drivers! I immediately put the Callaway aside and then tried Ping, Cobra, Taylor made, Titleist, etc. etc. etc.
    In the end, for a "stock" driver, meaning with the shaft it came with, I chose the GBB. For my skill at the time it was hands down the best feeling driver to me.
    Experts say, due to technology, every five years you should swing other drivers and maybe buy a new one, but every ten years the technology has advanced so much that you must buy a new driver. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE. I hit my GBB with a fade to it (sometimes slight to the right side of the fairway and sometimes completely off the fairway.) My husband adjusted it to compensate for the fade and it worked, but there were times when I could feel the club head slightly "rock" in my hands at impact and that would affect where my ball went.
    I tried several clubs when it was time to get a new driver. Ping, Srixon (the driver is called the cheap man's Callaway) Callaway Paradym, Taylor made and the new Great Big Bertha). I didn't like the feel of the Paradym when swinging it at all and did not like the whippiness of the shaft on the GBB for a women's driver, the stock shaft felt amateurish and like it wasn't ready for business. By the way I feel this about the women's Ping drivers with stock shafts as well - they just don't feel serious when I swing them.
    I played in a tournament and one of the women I was playing with had a new Callaway Rogue Project X Cypher 50 5.0 shaft and I asked her if I could swing it. Even though the shaft was a bit stiff for me, there was a completely different feel to her driver. It was dead on. I did not drive any fades...the Jail break technology is pretty amazing and - I don't swing as fast as she does and so my fitter set me up with the Project X Cypher 40 4.0 shaft. (the shaft number 4.0 denotes my swing speed. I'm not a fast swinger and I'm not slow for a 61 year old woman and I like a pretty, I mean business style swing from my driver.)
    Please know I don't work for Callaway nor know anyone who does so I'm not just advertising for them. I don't even play a full Callaway bag! I have my new Rogue driver and I have an Odyssey Exo 7 putter. the rest of my bag is Ping. I'm just a normal 61 year old golf fanatic who loves to swing my clubs and I really feel the business in this driver when I swing it.
    This is a great driver and it is FUN to swing.

      @jaybrignac1523 9 місяців тому

      I don't believe enough is stated about driver shafts and how they can make, or break the feel of a driver (really, any club when it comes down to it). The beauty of the drivers where you can easily demo different shafts is a game changer. It's very cost effective to own several shafts if you want to experiment as well (for those who are never truly satisfied). Congrat's on finding your winner!

    I bought the Triple Diamond with my spec to replace my older PXG, I then tried the Max LS and wow what a difference, I could hit the triple diamond reasonably well but it was the odd hit which I would get a larger left or right than id like, the point being it was the odd shot that went in BOTH directions, so its hard to adapt to a both direction bad shot. I have now got the MAX LS and I absolutely love hitting it and it's also the longest driver I've been able to carry too.

    As a relatively new golfer only really starting to play and practice often last Spring, my drives with the Rogue Max ST have been the most solid and forgiving by far. Callaway was running the the 50% bonus trade in credit and I would actually get more for my Maverick driver than I paid for it so figured why not. The driver has now become one of the best struck clubs in my bag. 🙌🏼

    I bought a Callaway Epic Speed early this year from Callaway. I had a Razr Fit Extreme previously. I had Taylormade R11, R11s and then RBZ before the Callaways. I ended up purchasing the 3 and 5 woods to go with theEpic Speed Driver. Same technology as the Rogue. Very, Very Happy.

  • @mrpriceisright
    @mrpriceisright Рік тому +1

    Have tested these recently (G430 max, tsr2, paradym x, aerojet). The paradym set up beautifully and had the most solid feel on hits across the face. Currently have Epic max LS and it has the same solid feel and consistent forgiving flight. The Callaways set up great with a square face. I only have a high 80's swing speed but have had good results with the LS version. I see the same in your situation, curious why they say the LS should be for higher swing speeds. Rogue ST max is now 399 which makes it a good deal.

    I am an amateur golfer and I went to a Calaway fitting and the Rogue Max was magic. It changed my game. Just switching to 9 degree loft from 10.5 added 30+ yards to my drive. I just could not believe how well I was hitting it. I went to a scramble last week and drove over 300+ yards on a par 5 and shocked everyone (including myself). (I am over 50 with a bad back.) This was in a beginner scramble league and I have only been playing less than a year. I started last fall. I love this video because someone as well known and respected as you to confirm what I found to be true for me as a beginner makes the $549 price tag easier to swallow. I told myself I was not going to buy any new clubs until I learned to get better at golf but I couldn't sleep for 3 days until went out and bought it. (It improved my game that much.)

    I assumed I was an average golfer due to the sort of scores I shoot (usually 16-20 over) but my issue with driver (and irons too for that matter) is too much height and probably losing distance because of it.

    Extra points for Nelly Korda playing the TSI1 too! Recently had a driver fitting, and hit almost everything. The TSI faces have such a weird shape, with that deep heel and pointing lil toe, it looked strange. And sadly, I couldn't manage to get an optimal fit out of the Rogue, in addition to still disliking that look and transition of the matte finish to the standard grey metal face. G425 was the only one that hit my optimal numbers compared to my Cobra. F9, so my new driver is the oldest from this video, ha. Seems that club manufacturers have all "evolved" to the new concept of melding various materials together and using rear weighting for forgiveness and forward weighting for shot shaping and squeezing out a few more yards. It's surprising how close many of these clubs are. Going through the process of picking one and Cobra LTDX was the latest test. I haven't hit it yet, but based on your reviews and lot of others I've seen, for my swing speed (~115) and typically higher spin rate, I'm leaning toward the the Cobra LTDx LS, which seems to be forgiving and low spinning.

      I have the LS and it’s massively forgiving. I used to play their XB driver from last year which is the forgiving model but the LS is even more forgiving than it IMO

    As for me, I just using a complete sets of 90s Wilson's(not even Wilson Staff) Tour Limited edition 😁 which it is enough for me, and,.. the driver is just below 400cc clubs 😅. Still, rockin it 250++ yards.
    P.s: Pete, would be a great appreciation for any modern driver from you sir. 😂

    Tried a few drivers recently having decided to move on from Ping G400 Max , firstly went down the SIM route , thereafter G425 and purchased a Mizuno STG with loads of adjustment , 4 months later I scoured the internet and found my keeper!!
    A brand new G400 max , I had tried to get a more penetrating flight spent a bit of cash and realised I wanted high draw back.
    G400 max 👍👍

    "Around for ages" = 2 years? My driver, my most recent club, was introduced in 2005 ( Callaway Fusion FT-3). Next oldest club (Taylor Made Burner midsize 3-iron) was from 1993. The rest a dozen years older are forged blade irons and Burner fairway woods. "Classic" refers to an item that is 25 years old at least. Are you playing golf or buying golf?

    I came for a 905R thinking I would get a tsi3. Nope...Ended up with a Max LS and love it. But what really surprised me was the Max 3 wood and 7 wood! So straight and unbelievably forgiving.

    Hey pete question for you I'm looking at upgrading my 913 d2 driver I'm looking at the ts3 or 4 I'm looking for the least spin possible I'm a massive fader of the golf ball and want barely any spin what would you recommend out of those 2?

    • @Mizman76
      @Mizman76 2 роки тому

      More spin makes it curve less. Higher backspin straightens out flight. And if you're a "massive fader" then you need to sort that out before even buying a new club. No new club will fix a "massive fade"( slice).
