- Mount Tipton is one of the Arizona 2000 ft. prominence peaks, and is located northwest of Kingman, along Highway 93 on the way up to Nevada. It has over 3600 ft. or prominence, making it the 13th most prominent mountain in Arizona. My buddy Matt and I made the four hour drive up from the Phoenix area, and enjoyed the hike up this peak. My car was able to make it to the BLM gate, negotiating a few rougher spots for the last mile on the dirt road in. It's pretty simple to get here, and you can drive about a mile further with higher clearance.
Great Climb! Thanks for taking us along!
Hi Dave, it was another fun peak. Thank you for following along!
That was deceptively a lot of elevation gain compared to what it appeared from where you parked. Not one of the prettiest hikes is appears but the ridge was interesting. And seeing Charleston was cool.
Hi Piece Train, yes it didn't look like that much, but we were pretty much going up the whole time, other than one little section of the road. I liked the ridge a lot, and it was cool seeing Charleston like that. I hope to get up there this summer, and hopefully the snow will be gone early.
