so so important to remember Marx and Engels lived in a revolutionary era and were as much philosophers as they were revolutionaries. thank you for mentioning it.

Mr Persona Greetings from the States! I've spent a bit of time over there in the FRG, mainly in Bayern, where I was stationed as a soldier (as a young man, decades back!)

This is an excellent overview on Marx. The last few statements are imperative.

I feel like people often don't understand the concept of private property from a marxist perspective
According to Marx, there exists a distinction between personal and private property. The former encompasses items for personal use, such as clothing, jewelry, and cars. On the other hand, private property refers to property leveraged to extract labor or wealth from others.

Hello Dr. Sadler. I've heard you state a few times in your videos and read in your comments that you do not consider yourself a Marxist. I was wondering, do you have a specific philosophical contention with the work of Marx and those who work in a similar vein that could be called "Marxist" that has shaped your thought in a decidedly "non-Marxist" fashion? By the way, I am a big fan of your Half Hour Hegel series and have watched every video. Does your thinking about Marx and his criticism/understanding of Hegel in any way influence your understanding of Hegel? I appreciate all the effort you put into these videos and I look forward to your response.

I talked about that a good bit in my most recent AMA

I watched the AMA in question and it doesn't really address anything I was trying to get at, but I understand you probably don't have to time to reply to every UA-cam comment in depth. Cheers.

Sir,It's always pleasant to learn from you.Could you please throw some light on "Scientific Socialism" and "Utopian Socialism". I am bit confused on both of these.
As i understood Scientific Socialism ,according to Marx and Engels when new social contradictions of a new mode of production i.e capitalism occurs, then it lead way to socialism.
While,Utopian Socialism is just presentation of visions and outlines for imaginary or futuristic ideal societies, with positive ideals being the main reason for moving society in such a direction.
    But, i have two question:
    1) what "Socialism" ,"Scientific Socialism " is taking about,is it basic human welfare schemes by govt. or corporate social responsibility(CSR) or Labor Union Movement to push govt. towards social sector spending or something else?
2)If we interpret marx's ideology in more nuanced way, does its parameters change or not?If it doesn't,then has Marx's Ideology became obsolete.
I am looking forward to your reply.

+Navneet Kang In these videos, I'm mainly concerned with just explaining what's in the texts. You'll find discussion of the third part of the manifesto, and the different types of socialism later on in these videos, specifically in lecture 6 : ua-cam.com/video/-bV_vCJ9SzQ/v-deo.html
As to the second question, I'm not sure what you mean here by "parameters" -- that term can mean quite a few different things

I have a question about literature. Does Kołakowski ''Main Currents of Marxism'' is good position about marxism philosophy? Is critical, but Kołakowski student Bohdan Urbankowski, said that Kołakowski was by nature ,,destructive mind'', who eventually always end, trying to destroy everything he touch.
