Getting ready to go snowboarding in a couple hours for the first time in several years! I’ve been watching your videos on the car ride so I can be as prepared as possible for the slopes. Your tips for chairlifts have been extremely helpful in boosting my confidence and now I’m looking forward to trying them out, since chairlifts were my nemesis previously
I love that you’re in PC. It’s my home mountain and where I learned.
Throughout the video, I was saying “that’s where I caught an edge and almost concussed myself”, and “that’s where I slid out and almost blew out my knee” and “that’s where that little kid crashed into me”.
Good times.
Appreciate that you teach the whole lesson while on the move--i know it ain't easy, but it's more entertaining to watch and learn!

What I want to know is why skiers are on full race mode 10 cm next to me when I am trying to control myself on narrow runs.
lol i feel this. i think narrow runs are just harder in general on a snowboard cause we have to worry about being controlled and not catching an edge while skiers can just bomb right through it. I'm trying to get better at riding flat for this very reason 😅
One thing i would add that has helped me alot is when you go from toe edge to heel edge in steep conditions, you need to trust your board edge, it will look like you are sliding down and losing control when turning, but in reality you are controlling that slide and as soon as the nose of your snowboard is pointing the other side again, the edge will get you, if it doesn't then the board is not the best

Hey Kev, thanks a lot as always! I am still struggling to go quickly edge to edge cause I am just now mastering linking turns… what would you suggest to speed up the process to move edge to edge? I am on a mountain with narrow paths surrounded by trees and not easy to do classic linking turns hence I was wondering what would you suggest to up-skill quicker to go edge to edge. Thanks!! 😊

Hi Kevin. I've been riding for 15 yrs but I'm now older & after not boarding during COVID19 for only 1 yr. has made me even more afraid of the flats & cat tracks w/lots of people. This is very helpful. THANKS! It's in my head becuz after I relax I can peddle & ride short turns but I keep catching my back edge. it's weird. I think it's me not following your tips especially weight centered over the board. It's like my brain is more sluggish or something. I can ski OK but my boarding has digressed back to like barely an intermediate rider. I'm also training physically as my hips are tight. OK thanks for vids like this one.

I'm struggling on narrow paths.. especially when I'm on my heel edge I always tend to heavily hit the breaks.. it just comes naturally.. when I aim to go straighter in narrow flat space I have the feeling I fall to the back when I'm on my heels because I'm so slow.. I feel a LOT saver on my toes in such situations.. the fact that I always heavily reduce my speed while going on my heels is really annoying.. what do I do wrong? 🙄
Exactly the same here lol, it makes it worse when other people are passing next to me.
These tyoe if turns are exactly what I'm trying to eliminate. Every turn, in this video, is a skidded turn. Really struggling with transitioning to pure carved turns.
Get on a steeper angle then he was on, and use even pressure on both feet and just let it happen

Could not agree more. I feel like watching videos like these early in my progression actually set me back and I have been struggling to unlearn many bad techniques. Unfortunately, you can't trust everything you see on YT.

@@matt283-zv5ek definitely following Malcolm Moore. I see very few people teaching what he teaches with the level of detail that he teaches it. Also, on the slopes, I have only seen 1 or 2 people doing nice carved turns. I would like to be one of those people before the end of the season. I guess I should be happy that I was right back to the same skill level I was at over 20 years ago when I last rode. Unfortunately, that means my poor skills are heavily locked in and may be difficult to change. So many movements to coordinate and meld into one smooth movement.

"sliding that back foot" is not great advice.

@@SnowboardProCamp Well, people might think that "ruddering" is ok which is not for a beginner but I might have understood you wrong.
You’re right, it’s enforcing bad habits and will take longer to graduate to carved turns if they relied on ruddering. The back foot should be going along with the edge instead of forcing counter rotation as a crutch
What you are saying and what you are doing are different. You keep saying your weight is on the front foot, but your back knee and ankle are more bent which means your weight is aft. You said "pedaling " your feet. If you push on your toes, of your front foot, you are Opening up your ankle joint which moves you back(aft). Please study anatomy and perhaps get a lesson from a qualified instructor before teaching inaccuracies. Watch your own video slowly and you will see this.
