Actually did the same. Yes it hides in mattresses and stuff, but laying eggs is another matter, they can lay eggs everywhere so everything that you own is a potential risk of infestation all over again.
Throwing it away isn’t great either. 1. Moving it causes the bedbugs to fall off the mattress and spread. They could infest the neighbors while transporting it as well. 2. Someone outside might stupidly pick up the mattress and get an infestation. 3. Someone could not pick up the mattress but somehow accidentally pick a bugs up from the mattress. The best way to deal with it is to remove the bedbugs first and only then to throw the mattress away.

Not enough steam. Going just a little to fast. I would still use sprays and diatomaceous earth powder or better is Cimexa dust powder ,repeatedly , till their gone.
The steam only kills anything living at that time. It doesn’t really matter how fast you’re going. Bedbugs hit with anything 135 degrees kills them instantly. The other chemicals like cimexa dust and Alpine are preventative treatments. Mainly used for the eggs. There isn’t a single chemical that kills or stops the development of their eggs. The only hope is to treat the eggs and when they hatch, said chemical, hits them as soon as they hatch and kills them
You have to use your brain. You need to hit the furniture with steam before you even move it because if you tilt it upright it will disturb bugs that will scurry everywhere and eggs will fall off. And if you want to dispose of it you need to get that mattress base in a large thick mattress bag to completely seal the bed bugs inside before you remove it from your flat. Otherwise you are sprinkling bed bug stardust from your flat to the front door
I have never had to deal with this but it’s sad and I’m sure it’s very frustrating not everybody has a major set of all the furniture away and start over there doing what they think they can do at least they’re doing something I’ve seen some Of those infestation shows are off the chart
Are you really using such a low amount of steam to expect to rid the bedbugs of that mattress? It absolutely will not do anything. If you want to go the steam route it needs to come out faster and be more contained. By the time that small stream of steam hits the bedding it already cooled down somewhat. You would have to go over the same area over and over and over again to try and see any real result. It’s pointless unless you have industrial equipment and seal off that room or the very least seal off the bed and then apply the steam so it stays contained in the bag to increase the heat. If this was maybe a small stuffed animal it could work. Otherwise a waste of your time. Thats why those large tubing ducts are used for these type situations to send in heat and steam at an appropriate temperature so to terminate the bugs once and for all without wasting time.
Nope. Steaming aint gonna do a damn thing. Anyone who has ever had to deal with bed bugs knows how indestructible they are. I had to live with them for months and it almost drove me to complete insanity. I tried everything, including buying an expensive steamer but it didn't make any difference. In the end i had to pay professionals around $1,200 to treat the place and moved out for 3 days whilst my apartment was quarantined.
