Did you notice how Alice continued the Charlie’s yellow and Nick’s blue theme in the last scene (their blankets). I just love this movie and can’t wait for season 2&3!!
Fun fact: the author (Alice Oseman) was in the train with them going to the beach. She was sketching them. And yes, the future seasons definitely have Charlie and Nick as the leads with the friend group having their own side stories. Hopefully season 2 by early summer, but no word yet. Can't wait! I believe the return to the familiar would be Charlie distancing himself from Nick yeah, but more specifically going back to the art room to eat lunch alone which was something he did the previous year to hide from his problems.
I was very much on the same wavelength about Tao's reaction and the quick resolution - in a strange way I think it's actually one of the most realistic dynamics in the show, but it still quite doesn't sit right! Thanks for your reactions and commentary - getting to enjoy the show all over again but put in a slightly different light by someone with insight is a lovely gift.

YES!!! Going back an episode to the fight scene in the cinema, if you really look, SaI, Otis and Christian aren’t joining in with the laughing. They’re looking at each other like, “What do we do?” Charlie is so much of an over thinker because Ben wrecked him. Narcissists do that and it got to the point where Charlie overthinks everything and has such low self esteem. His mental health really drops and if you don’t really notice, he has an eating disorder. He just looks at his food without ever eating anything. And I think that’s why this show hits so hard for me becuse when I was 15, the guy that “liked” me was basically Ben. He ruined so much for me. I’m still dealing with that trauma now at 39 years old. It’s something that’s always there in the back of your head.. Can’t wait for season two!!!!
@@BellyJae I mean we only really know Sai, Otis and Christian are in the show because of subtitles and credits... they weren't REALLY named and didn't really have any lines. So yea they were there, but they weren't really in it. We could not identify them like we could Imogen or Mr Ajayi etc
I didn't read all of the comments to see if anyone else said this, but I don't think the Tao and Charlie thing was just resolved by the running. The combination of talking to Nick and getting the full picture on everything that was going on with Charlie having to lie to not out Nick (since it was Nick who led the way in telling everyone else) and realizing the fact that Charlie was clearly really struggling if he was avoiding Nick and hiding again at lunch, and he also had all night to think about how he's been acting and why Charlie might not be enthusiastic to tell him... I think it finally just all clicked and Charlie doing him that favor and saying sorry was the final push to make him realize he was maybe being a bit unfair...

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and it's okay to hold off on the GN's if you don't want to spoil yourself but I can say the first 2 volumes are basically the first season but you can definitely see some differences that the show has made (but better) and yes the next season is gonna be on Vol.3 don't know if they're also doing the 4th one for season 2 but I do know for a fact that the 3rd is being portrayed for the next one. Imma just say BE READY for the story we (as GN readers) are about to see.
So the Graphic Novel is pretty similar but I still think that it is worth for everybody who liked this show to check it out (it is literally free). The 3 Chapters (for the online version) or the first 2 books (for the book version) basically cover everything during the first season. I think overall you can see that Alice has evolved as a writer since then for some aspects (there are some very obvious exposition text-bubbles and inner dialog) but I personally at the end prefer the tone the GN takes as it is even lighter than the series. I also think that some of the lines make more sense in the GN (many lines are directly taken from the GN to the series but spoken during a different scene). For example the line "You like me" "Wasn't that obvious" is in my opinion way more natural in the GN making the first time they say "Why are we like this?" much more satisfying as well. The last part I like more in the Graphic Novel is Charlie because I think in this first season he has a bit of what I call Harry-Potter Syndrome, meaning that they took a bit of his edge out to make him even more of a good person but intern also loosing a bit of his personality. This also hurts the banter between Charlie and Nick a bit unfortunately. From the Series alone you would never guess that during the Graphic Novel it is established that Nick is a Gryffindor but Charlie a Slytherin. Again, this is critic on a very high standard and generally both show and GN are amazing.
I'll definitely need to check out the graphic novel, then! And what you said about Harry-Potter Syndrome is super interesting, I'm going to be on the lookout for that in other series!
I’m fifty five years old and cry every single time I watch this and that’s sad because I’ve probably watched it thirty plus times! 😂 The process of acknowledging your gay and coming to terms with it have never changed but society certainly has, I so wish my experience was like this instead of all the age restrictions and genuine hatred we experienced back in the 70’s and 80’s. I’m so happy for the younger generation, it’s still not easy to be gay but it’s getting better and better. 🎉❤
hi just want you to know i love your rection because you explan what is happeing so people can understand every episodes and its is so love warm and everything about this show it tells everything what can happen in our lives the bads and the good sametimes it hard for people to come out i know how that feels i feel the same way and nick and charlie are so speical and there love for each other are so real their passion is so beautiful and they got very strong friendship i love them so much they support each other and beening there for each other its so magic and lovely to watch and there chemistry is strong and they ment to be together and i love how nick came out to his mum that will make everyone cry i did that was so loved and very speical for young teens what they going though in life. and everything was spot on and i realy love it and i cant waite for season 2 to see how nick and charlie realiship goes and everyone in it and cant waite for it

Heartstopper is about Nick and Charlie, the other characters are secondary. So Nick and Charlie will always be the main couple in this show, just like they are in the graphic novels. I do wonder why you have this concern that they won't be the central couple in later seasons, though. The only TV show that has a different couple every season is Bridgerton. Most teen shows, if not all, always focus on the main couple. So maybe you can further elaborate on this concern? Anyway, awesome reaction.
It is probably because when couples get together, the show ends. So when the show doesn't end, people don't know what a couple can do. If it's not related to love triangles and the like.
It was definitely me worrying it might be more like Brigerton! For example, I'm writing a young adult book series where every book features a new couple, sort of like how Brigerton does it, and that's very common in novels. So I thought maybe Heartstopper could be the same! Glad it's not, though! I love Charlie and Nick too much to let them go yet 😆
