Thank you so much for watching! Hope you enjoyed it! I was in Cub / Boy Scouts from like age 6-18. I loved camping. I love outdoorsy stuff. I miss doing that stuff. Wonder what it would've been like nowadays with smart phones and such. Gosh I'm old.

*Evan spends 5 minutes explaining how hard it is to get eagle scout*
Sammy: oh we just played football
+Alison Schneider hahahha
Alison Schneider the the tens is now called the d of e or duke of Edinburgh award and the gold is 60 miles over three days
Evan Edinger the new uk promise is on my honor I promise to do my best to do my duty to go and the queen to help other people and to keep the scout law
Alison Schneider i
@@danr7150 Ten Tors is very much still a thing and is completely disconnected from Duke Of Edinburgh. I'm assuming that's what you meant by "tens". It happens every year on Dartmoor. And it's not just a scout thing too, teams from schools do it😊
British vs American videos are the BEST :D , who agrees?
Yes I love them the most of Evan's videos
Molly Anne Cole I do too :)
I agree
I pledge to this.
Babs Stanzl xD
Former beaver, cub, scout and venture scout here.
Beaver - mostly playing games and running about
Cubs - more adventurous, sports, did things like climbing and abseiling. Also covered some basic home tasks like ironing, sewing, etc.
Scouts - mostly adventurous, DofE, kayaking, abseiling, etc. Camping and backwoods techniques.
Venture Scouts - honestly... mostly drinking in the pub down the road from the scout hut (we were now 16+ at this point) and fundraising on weekends to fund longer trips and activities, skiing, etc...
Oh yeah and Gang Show... If you love acting, singing, etc... Scouts and Guides of all levels put on yearly variety performances across the UK.
M3ta7h3ad i remember my group doing s gang show with my group it was funny 😂👌
Ur not allowed to do dofe in scouts only in explorer scouts (in the U.K. that is. Don’t know where ur from)
Venture scouts is explorers now
Yes for Gang Show I was in gangsow for 10 years but I move to uni this year so I can't do it anymore
@@palomachristyramos4927 you can do d of e bronze in scouts but you have to be 13 at least I mean its basically the same as one of the badges so we did it all at the same time - that is in England
The way it works: (uk)
Girls can join Boy Scouts
Boys can't join Girl Guides
+Lucy! Weird
actually in the UK they have changed it so boys can join guides but they haven't changed the name from Girl Guiding so boys don't realise they can and no one really wants to anyway
It hasn't changed as far as i'm aware (i'm a scout leader). The point of Girl Guiding is that boys have historically had a lot of things specifically for them, and sometimes girls need some space and a chance to do the same things as scouts, but without the sexism that usually comes from boys thinking they're better just because they're boys (trust me, even in a group with a few girls, and more than half the leaders being women, the boys still think they're better.)
Boys can't join Guides. GirlGuiding members have been asked about this a number of times but have always chosen to stay girl only. The girls really benefit from the girl only space. We can do pretty much everything the Scouts can do, but with the freedom to one week be camping out and lighting fires, and the next week be making face masks.
+Kathryn Robinson well there was a boy in my guide group so they let him
nah queen doesn't really exist
+doddleoddle I believe in the queen
conspiracy theory
what is this queen you speak of
It's all conspiracy
Dodie!!!!
I got kicked out of brownies for making a joke about murdering a kitten.
In my brownies we had to stand out the room for being bad. Me and my friend were laughing to much at something so we had to stand outside but they just put us together so we just kept laughing together
I got kicked out of cub scouts for eating a brownie!! 😉
In Rainbows we sang a song about maiming a bird then killing it and another about a toad being run over.
Emma Risby what was the joke?
This seems highly unlikely to me unless your leader was just horrible with children. I'm pretty sure the psychos in my troop were for sure worse than this and they went one to get their gold awards. To this day they are still some of my best friends lol
These British vs American videos never get old!
Love them
+LukeVlogs same!
Never
I like them. Keep making them
I was in the scout movement for 10 years and it was truly the best
oh my god Eve
wait a second I thought you did guides 😂and also have you quit now???
Why did you stop?
+Katy Sexton Guides is just the girl version of scouts I believe
+Sarah Todd I know but if she was talking about guides she would have said the guiding movement, because guides and scouts are different organisations
I'm American and I've been in girl scouts for a long time, but my troop never does anything fun. all we do us host lame parties that nobody comes to. I really wish I could be in boy scouts because my brother is in boy scouts and I really wish I could do some of the stuff they do. It just seems so much more fun than girl scouts.
Adrianna I get what you mean. I'm English and I'm in girl guides because I don't think we have Girl Scouts because girls can go to scouts if they want. But in my guides we go camping and do stuff like scout about (a big festival where guides and scouts come together to do a bunch of cool stuff) but in most meetings we either do some sort of craft cooking or look at the history of guiding which I nearly know off by heart because of how many times I've done it.
I also once said to my friend that guides was a bit boring I might join scouts, she called me an ungrateful bitch and didn't talk to me for the rest of camp 🖕🏻
We also have to camp with the brownies which is the most annoying thing in the world!
Isabella Gardner As far as I know, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are the same thing, we just call them girl scouts in america. But yea, my troop literally has 4 girls in it, and my leader is like an overbearing mom. Or at least she tries to be.
Adrianna honestly Girl Scouts is dumb I've been a scout been a scout for 7 years and until recently all we did were stupid crafts
rude
Adrianna I had the same feelings with my old troop
fun fact: the first gay eagle scout or something who went on the ellen show is my friends brother and he did a project at my middle school
That's awesome!!!! :D
He come to my soc class this year to do speech, he was so nice and sweet
Olivia Shanley Aww that's amazing :)
i think he was just the first gay that came out and told everyone pretty sure there where probably some in there before haha
I still remember the girl guide pledge in the uk. I promise to do my best to love my queen and country, to help other people and to keep the guide law.
+catriona bain TO LOVE YOUR QUEEN??? I do love Tyler Oakley
They changed it last year to
I promise that I will do my best:
To be true to myself and develop my beliefs,
To serve the Queen and my community,
To help other people
and
To keep the (Brownie) Guide Law
To be more politically correct or whatever
Oh... The USA one is "On my honor I will try to serve God and my country, to help people at all time and to live by the girl scout law"
I swear it was
I promise that I will do my best to love my god tho serve my queen and my country and to keep the guide law
It's now changed to replace God with community and stuff ☺️
Hey I'm from Britain, and I'm a girl, so we went to rainbows, brownies, and then guides. They taught us to bake and stuff, make tea, and crafting etc, and every year, we would go on a trip called brownie holiday, where we would get to go in a house with no parents and sleep in bunk beds and stuff. And then in guides, they make you clean out a graveyard every month. I found a dead fox that's bones were showing, a live hedgehog, and a dead raccoon😖at the end of every meeting we would have to sing a song about God and the queen (but I've forgotten it). And to get into guides/brownies you had to do a ceremony. Also, you are all split into groups: the elves, pixies, gnomes, etc and every group had their own song that you would sing at the start for everyone. The oldest kid in the group was the sixer, and the second youngest was the seconded, who were in charge of the group😂
Caroline Dare Is Queen I was a sixer. Also, racoon in Britain?!
scrolling through the commentsTM I remember the sixers. Everything was so sexist in brownies and now I'm in guides, I have done nothing life-saving related
ayy i was a seconder and it was in my pack that had imps, pixies, elves, leps and some others that i cant remember😖
scrolling through the commentsTM samee 😃
I was in rainbows brownies and guides. Not once did we ever do a trip. My brownie was awful 😂
Ever since I started watching Evan I have become better at coming up with puns :)
>•
My friend will say something and I'll go "ahhh I see what you did there!" thinking it was a deliberate joke and it never is
So you became a loyal phan
+Hope Sim same lol 😂😂😂
same lol. Mine used to be a laughing stock but now they're quite punny.
You two, Dodie and Connie are the best people ever omg
Shipsssssss
+Rachael Evans sameeeee
I do Pony Club which is basically scouts but all to do about horses and you get different badges on different things about horses like grooming, native horse breeds, points of the horse, plaiting ect... But u also have clinics and lessons where u ride you horse and have a lesson :D
also in the uk there is a big rivalry between scouts and girl guides
i used to be a guide and then i joined scouts and i got called "the guide" for a looooong time
also everyone in scouting either loves or hates bear grylls. there is no inbetween.
Why would anyone *hate* Bear Grylls? So silly! I enjoy watching his survival shows. I never joined any type of scout movement, and I live in the US. :P
Theres a huge rivalry between the boy scouts and girl scouts of America too
Velanthor I think it's because he acts like a celebrity- people don't like how he turns up places in a helicopter, breezes in, kisses a few babies and then leaves again
Emma Popcorn I just assumed he did it because that's similar to what he might've experienced when he was in the military. ;)
We fired air rifles in my scouts and I'm British. Not proper guns but better than what other groups did.
In my scouts we almost did that but one of our leaders said it was against their morals or something. :( So we did archery instead, but that was still really fun. (I'm British too)
We fired rifles and shotguns at targets in the Scouts back in the 1980s
We have air rifles in our troop too, we also did archery
LukeCutforthSmellsLikeMilk we actually fire shotguns in our scout troop
In cadets we fire gp rifles aka semi auto sa80s
Duke of Edinburgh isnt just a hike. It's a nationwide program with three tiers: bronze, silver, gold. It involves volunteering, skill (I.e musical instrument, cooking), and a physical skill (sport). You get to go to Buckingham palace when you do gold
Duke of Edinburgh is the queens husband Prince Phillip

I’m British and went to guides and every day once we got there we would all say in unison “I promise that I will do my best to be true to myself and develop my beliefs to help one and other and to keep the brownie guide law”...it seemed ok then but now I look back at it it was super cult like. We were literally 11-16 year olds in a circle holding hands and chanting in unison
I'm a guide leader and that's not normal.
Yea like brownies (6-11) and at the end we would hold pinkies and say the promise and then in guides we would do the salut while saying the promise
@@brunettekoala pretty normal more like. It's the scout promise.
Scouts had this throughout, it depended on who led it whether it invoked a diety but something like:
"I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and the queen (though guess its king now),
To help other people and to keep the Scout Law."
Was said when raising the flag.
Culty? Nah, just reiterating the promise you make as a scout or guide.
We pronounced it
“wee-b-low”
Not the way Evan pronounces it
There r some girls in Boy Scouts now because of lawsuits
Who else had Rainbows (4-7) Brownies (7-10) And then guides. I quite Brownies at 9 because it was too religious! Great video Evan x
Quit* :)
I'm a Brownie Young Leader and I'm so glad they've made Brownies much less religious nowadays: they changed the promise to get rid of the pledge to God (and you could just leave that bit out before that if it was against your beliefs) and we now focus much more on developing the girls' personal beliefs about life and themselves. There are still some very religious units but they are few and far between and it's so much more accepting and open minded now which I really like.
+Lottie Lollie That's good, I loved brownies and went on on the trips and loved the sense of community however I just felt too forced into things and I just didn't really feel it, I'm glad they've changed that now so that the girls can feel more comfortable. I regret leaving though, I want to go back!
Haha I had sparks, brownies, girl guides, and pathfinders.
I did Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers for a bit and now I'm a Brownie Leader 😊
I was a guide in England-
We had Rainbows, Brownies and then Guides then Rangers after that
We had that thing about levels as well... We had level 1, 2, 3 then 4 and then the Baden Powell. I got my level 4 and then half way through my Baden Powell but never actually completed it
Same I went to brownies and guides
in Scotland, rainbows was sometimes called ladybirds, I think. I'm pretty sure I was a ladybird before going on to brownies
I was a brownie!!
god to see there was another girl guide in the comments lol
So I was in the Girl Scouts in the United States for 13 years (kindergarten through graduation) and my troop did so many cool things that I think a lot of kids miss out on. My leader had a son who was in Boy Scouts at the same time her daughter was in Girl Scouts so everything we did was outdoor and nature oriented. We were taught archery and rifling as well as survival skills. I learned a lot of stuff from her but everybody was involved with it which isn't very common
I went to badgers (uk) when I was like 9 😂 basically learn how to become a medic I went for like a month then quit because all we did was learn how to wash our hands properly and make marzipan 😂
Am I the only person who went to badgers?
That was St. Johns which is a different organisation, Scouts is something separate
+Cezza Sheerio I know but it's pretty much the same thing we did all the same as things as scouts and brownies like camping etc just with more medical stuff added in
+Courtney Morris really? my friend did it and she didn't have any camps... we did first aid but it was more focused on games, outdoor skills like pioneering, whittling, shelter building, fires, cooking on said fires. as you went through the system the more independent you would be until explorers/network and you organise it do it your self
Scouts in Canada have a program like this called Medical Venturers, we do a lot medical stuff though, we volunteer and provide first aid at public events!
As an Australian girl guide this video was super interesting! Our promise involved God and the Queen up until recently when they changed it to "I promise that I will do my best to be true to myself and develop my beliefs, to serve my community and Australia, and to live by the guide laws"
We also have girls in Scouts in Australia, I'm not really sure why haha.
Recently they changed the labels in guides so that no matter what age you are you are still a "guide" although in scouts the age brackets are
6-8 Joeys
9-11 Cubs
11-14 Scouts
14-17 Venturers
18-26 Rovers
Also, girl guides in Australia and the UK (and anywhere else in the world) are under the same world association as the U.S. Girl Scouts: WAGGGS. Which stands for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
In the UK (up to like last year) the promise was like:"I promise that I will do my best, to love my God, to serve my queen and country and keep the Guide law". Then they changed it; as it was "too" religious.Don't know the new one- and Ialways do the old one when renewing, as I always get the two mixed up, then panic.
Yeah I'm a scout ( girl ( it's under the label scouts)) we still use God in our unit and we still have a prayer at the end of each night
It's still to God and the Queen in Cubs.
Wait. you still have venturers in Australia? We've changed to explorers in England.
The Scout Promise
On my honour, I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people
And to keep the Scout Law
The Scout Law
A Scout is to be trusted.
A Scout is loyal.
A Scout is friendly and considerate.
A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts.
A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.
The Scout Motto
Be Prepared
We are taught the 8th scout law is "never get caught"
The Brownie Guide Promise;
I promise to do my best, to love my God, to serve my Queen and country
To help other people and to keep the Brownie Guide Law
Brownie Motto:
Think of others before yourself
I think those are right it’s been five years or so 😂
A brownie guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day! And the motto is - Lend a Hand
I’m 25 and I still remember that 😂
BSA’s Scout Oath: On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to obey the scout law, to help others at all times and keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
BSA’s Scout Law: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
BSA’s Outdoor code: As an American, I will do my best to be clean in my outdoor manners, be careful with fire, and be conservation minded.
BSA’s motto: Be prepared.
BSA’s slogan: Do a good turn daily.

@@emilyb7421 yes that's right except its not guide law its good law don't know why though
I was a brownie and all we ever did was arts and crafts.
And in ours, whenever somebody joined we had to stand in a circle and coo like owls. 😂
I was a brownie too! All we did was crafts and identifying leaves and it was awful. The other girls gave me migraines.
All I remember is skipping around a mushroom
I was a brownie and I remember singing a lot and doing a sleep over and that's all I really remember...oh and selling cookies 😂
right lmao that's basically all we did
I was hoping this whole video would be about me
+Scout Elliott it is
+Evan Edinger oh alright cool, brb just gonna go flip a tit that you responded

The duke of Edinburgh is the queens husband
I think
Prince Phillip is the Duke of Edinborough. To the comment above me you do get meet him if/when you complete the Gold Duke of Edinborough. (I'm a Cadets so...)
Edinburgh*
Yeah my school does it and it makes your qualifications look better so colleges and jobs will accept you
IM DOING MY DOFE EXPEDITION THIS WEEKEND SAVE ME
The length of this video is satisfactory
Hahaha the British scouts seem very similar to Australian scouts. Girls are allowed (thank god because I've tried girl guides and boy did it suck) The promise is pretty much the same too.
On my honour I promise to do my best to do my duty to my god and (the queen of, optional) australia, to hepl other people and to live by the scout law.
Yep, our promise is pretty mich the same
You should go do Girl Scouts vs. Boy Scouts (I can help *nudge*nudge*)
In my scouts there are girls and boys
When I used to be in guides in the UK, we actually had a competition against the local scout unit, the girls triumphed and we took the trophy home
I wish I was able to do Boy Scouts, but I'm stuck in Girl Scouts. Boy Scouts looks more fun!
Ikr! Girls scouts was so boring! Once, we were told to do an abstract painting with "meaning" when we were seven.
In the USA you can join a Boy Scout Venture Crew at the age of 14. Use beascout.org to find a crew near you.
Wesley Wexell Also Sea scouts.
I think that Girl Scouts can be very different depending on your group and your troop's focus. I was in Girls Scouts (Brownie through Ambassador) and I loved it... My troop still meets up in the winter and have dinner at the melting pot. As a troop, we were very service oriented but we did a camping trip, badge lockin, canoe/kayaking trip, and a hiking fitness track (with archery and other activities) every year. As a brownie, we learned all the stuff the Cubs did. We learned how to start a fire and maintain a safe campsite, we were expected to cook all of our own food at campouts and clean all of our mess-ware, we could read and identify animal tracks and poisonous plants, animals, and bugs, we collected our own materials (kindling, etc.), etc. I mean yeah we did crafts and things of that nature but they were always practical. I mean I can identify emergency signals and signs of an animal disruption at a campsite. I can read a map and compass (you need both in the wilderness), and identify constellations and animal calls, so I think it was fun. Plus the uniforms and regulations were not as srict as they were for the guys.
I'm struggling about why in the USA there aren't miked scout groups like in the rest of the world, like... why?
I'm in a colombian scout group, and we accept.. Everyone! Literally everyone. Baden-Powell never said "Divide boys from girls and do your own gender role" that's the opposite of union, and as a scout we are all the same despite the gender, race, nationality, etc. We are all brothers...
I’m currently in scouts (13yrs) and my sister is actually going to the scout jamboree to America this year! I’m a APL (assistant patrol leader) and I have a camp next week and I’m in charge of the group!
As a Cub Scout Leader and having been in Scouting my entire life, I find this very interesting, Sammy's scouting journey is not what we do at all :P
It was really disappointing to hear his super casual troop in the uk. I’ve been a scout in both Ireland and Italy and am a leader now and even the American troop sounds less impressive than what I would’ve expected. I honestly thought that it would be harder to become this supposedly super difficult “Eagle Scout” considering that is the normal routine for even just your last year of explorers at age 15/16. And then further in Rovers/Venturers.
As for the religious aspect, that has been removed by now in most countries.
I went to the 2011 World scout jamboree in Sweden and the American troops were so... meh and really stood out as the only ones without girls. Hell there were Muslim troops with girls in headscarves and the Americans still refuse to accept girls? Ridiculous.
in explorers now they have to do an expedition, they are dropped off somewhere and take 4 days (i think) in a group and they have to make their way back to a meeting point, no adults involved.
I was in Brownies, Guides and now I'm in Rangers. Guides and Scouts over here in the UK are just a fun way of hanging out, meeting new people and participating in fun activities.
The Duke of Edinburgh is Prince Philip (the Queen's husband).
I'm a Ranger/Young Leader in Scotland
+Alannah Fox cool. 💛
I'm a Ranger too but in France so in BGIFC and I've been in guiding for 10 years now!! All the way from rainbows o here! :)
Sarah Mullin I went for 3 years and went to rainbows to brownies
Zahra Wilkinson Rangers is the name of my hometown's Senior Section.
I remember the cub scout troop I attended as a kid was named on the Jungle Book, and our leader was an old woman named Bagheera.
BadWebDiver , All British boy scouting is based on the Jungle book for the rankings of the scouters leading each pack! Akela is the highest rank and is usually the leader of each pack and Bagheerer is usually second in command. At least it used to be that way but I'm ancient(50)! It might have changed now? Also I now live in America so my 3 sons went through BSA and my grandson can't wait to join next year. Having experienced both I much prefer the British scouting to the American but then my pack was a very established and driven one so we always did well in competitions with other packs. I'm a proud member of 2nd Urmston scouts in Manchester!
@@gavinjackson2863 oh my gosh I'm a proud member of 3rd Davyhulme Scout and Guide Band can't believe that you were 2nd Urmston
I'm an Eagle Scout, and at 17, I did a SS (Super Strenuous) trek at Philmont, hiking 84 miles in 12 days in the Rocky Mountains (Sangre de Cristo Range) in northern New Mexico. It was amazing.

I was in Girl Scouts all through elementary school (so like six years) and overall it was really cliquey and a lot of crafts. Our leadership kinda sucked early on and that impacted our experience later as we had no discipline and many people's expectations were warped. The charity and science and business management stuff we did when we were older was really awesome though.
On my honor, I will try to serve God and my country, to help people at all times and to live by the Girl Scout Law (which I don't remember).
This was mine, does this ring a bell?
I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, responsible for what I say and do, respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout. And then we would do the Hunger Games three finger thing to represent the Girl Scout Pledge...?
I was a cub scout in UK in late 70’s and we did stuff to earn badges....like cooking, knots, swimming, crafts, learn to make a campfire and cook sausages
Oh man Girl Scouts is boring, honestly it's really pathetic in America. I remember crying about the fact my brothers got to do all this amazing stuff I couldn't and that they got to carry around the packet knives. Surprise surprise girls, the troop leader got all the pocket knives other wise your troop would get into a bit of trouble with the higher ups. We couldn't even earn it like the guys could! It was so infuriating because nothing was really scouting! It was like sewing and the build a bear workshop badges with fake camps. No Philmont for us.
It was even worse for my troop we didn't even have pocket knives that the troop leaders kept. We sold cookies late February to early March. Then nuts late September to early October. All the badges we got were for selling things or like you said sewing. We even did a salon day badge where we got together for our weekly meeting and brushed each others hair. We had 3 camping trips in the 10 years I was in Scouts but one of those was at Hershey Park so it wasn't really camping. The one good thing about Girl Scouts in my area is the summer camps but those aren't with your troop. You sign up on you own and have to pay a lot of extra money.
B3418 it's quite good in the U.K. because it's boys and girls. So we can carry around knifes and that
Immz Xlol Yh I'm in scouts and we are going to the local scout campsite and if you have had your sharps training your allowed to bring it unfortunately I'm not invested yet as I've only been there for 3 months so I've not had anything to do with knives
TRUE!! We never did anything! All we did were crafts or drawing
I have said it a lot of times in this comment section, but again... That wouldn't happen if the Scouts were gendered. If you see other countries groups there are genderless scout groups, and we don't even sell anything to do what we do. Girls can use knives, boys can join girls troops, they just treat us equally, not as a boy or as a girl, just as a scout.
Oh snap Evan. The Order of the Arrow is coming for youuuuuuuuuuuuuu
And Girl Scouts for me was bbbbboooorrrrrriiiiiinnnnngggggg. But the nice thing about Girl Scouts for me was that they said that we can change "God" in the pledge to anything we wanted if we didn't believe in God or you just weren't comfortable saying that. So you could be like "one nation, under Beyoncé, indivisible..." And it was pretty great. And peppermint patties are also pretty great
I really enjoyed this video. As an achieved Eagle Scout myself I can relate and understand a lot of the sentiments in this video. I don't know if you were ever told about them but there were things called High Adventures that were very similar to the thing that Sammy was talking about, one of which being the Philmont High Adventure in New Mexico where you could spend two weeks in the summer hiking a couple of mounts and doing tons of activities.
i'm an explorer scout in the uk and we are the most chill group. we never wear uniform, we mostly just play games, we don't do badges... we're the best group though obviously (spartans forever)
also evan you should do a video where you get a girl guide and a girl scout on bc that would be interesting
you see we have girls in the scouts but no boys in the guys which is kind of problematic hmm
you can do D of E with scouts as well as with school
i keep commenting i just know so much about this (js evan u should've got me instead of sammy)
I didn't expect to see you in the comment section! I also just realized that I'm not subscribed on this account and you've reached 1K. Where have I been??? Haha
srsly so rude ;)
(thanks for recognising me)
I'm an explorer too lol no one gives a shit about 'tradition' or 'uniform'. IM A SPARTAN TOO OMG I FOUND ANOTHER
I just got back from scout camp (I'm English) & I smell like fire. We all made a den to sleep under in groups of 2s 3s and 4s and it was so cold we all huddled together, we all made a big fire and roasted marshmallows, me and a friend lit the Kelly kettle up and made everyone hot chocolate, we told stories. It was amazing. Cold but amazing. My scout troop is boys and girls. I love it.
Omg Evan liked my comment
In the UK you finish scouts at 14 and then you have explorer / adventure scouts until you're 18 then you join network
Sammy sounds so much like the boss from IT crowd when he does that voice XD
"Webelo"
*Has odd1sout flashback*
Ok byee
Oh, also, two years ago my cousin got the rank of Eagle Scout. His mom is a scientist, his dad's in the military, his sister moved to texas for some really good collage, and they are a happy living in Virginia not far from the pentagon, but far from the rest of the family who only lives in the hear of michigan.... 😅
I'm an Irish scout and it goes Beavers(5-8), Cubs(9-11), Scouts(12-15), Ventures(15-18) and Rovers(18-26). We have the Crean Challenge where it was a hike through ICELAND. We also have JamboRÍ which is the Irish Jamboree. I am a PL(patrol leader) and that was the highest scout rank and the crew leader was the highest Venture level
I'm just here to say that my sister got married yesterday and her photographer looked exactly like you Evan xD
Evan has an alter ego. We've found out your dark secret, Edinger!
deliciousandvicious9 He looked identical and, in disbelief, I couldn't avert my eyes from him for half a day :D "Hey look, this youtuber guy dude came to Poland an it just so happened he's taking photos in my house!" :D
+Lawliet45 Poland? Hey I'm from there!
+Gabby Poniat Hello :)
Did you get a picture with him?
I really want a scouts vs guides video
I was a scout in the UK and we always did loads of stuff. We didn't get badges for the stuff we did tho but we had so much fun doing it. We would go petrol go karting, rifle shooting on camps on a special shooting range, host a valentines meal for parents each year, cooking competitions, midnight hikes on camp, long lessons about knots (one of the leaders was kinda obsessed about knots!). We would go down to the nearby river and make dens in the woodland next to it. It's due to scouts that I am able to read maps so well and cook loads of stuff on single hob burners. It was one of the best things I've ever done, I highly enjoyed every minute of it. If I could do it all again I would ☺️.
My girl scouts troupe was much like Sammy's... we didn't do the pledge, we talked about random stuff, and we never got past the juniors...
Girl Scouts in the us:
Daisy: K-1
Brownie: 2
Junior: 3-5
Cadet: 6-8
Senior: 9-12
Ambassador is 11-12.
In my explorer group we focus on getting the diamond, platinum and queen scout awards, but we don't really do the other badges as much. it was much the same in scouts, but in beavers and cubs we did a lot more badges. it doesn't help that in explorers, most of us are doing our gcse's or a-levels
I did Girl Scouts from kindergarten to 4th grade. there was daisies (two years with a blue vest ), brownies (2 years with a brown vest), junior( 2 years with a mint vest or sash), and I don't know what's after because I quit after the first junior year. my troop did the derby one year and mine got disqualified because we could only decorate them and I had built my own. the girls in my troop never liked me except for a few but it would never last long. the moms hated me more they blamed every problem I had on my parents being gay (the rest had straight parents). my parents never told me these things until I quit and I remember crying for hours because it was my fault I put my parents through the homophobia but my parents kept letting me do it because I liked the trips we went on and the crafts we did.
and some how every year I had the fewest patches on my vest/stash I think there were a couple things I wasn't invited to when everyone else in the troop was
Our troop disbanded when we became juniors. We never did derbies. That sucks that you were disqualified for actually taking the initiative to build your own. And it sucks that you had such a hard time. I don't understand how people could be like that.
After juniors is cadettes (2 or 3 years with a tan sash). I never did the derby, and it sucks how you weren't included
It's awful that everyone gave you such a hard time :( I'm glad you're out of that situation now
i'm in girl scouts ( and English)
i'm atheist but i still just go along with the god thing ( we have to thank god at the end of the night with like a song thing)
girls can join boy scouts but boys can't join girl scouts which i don't really get
girl and boy scouts are basically the same
my sister went to girl scouts and thats why i go (she is in boy scouts now) but my friends go to the girls one with me so i stay(it's the only time i get to see them because we go to different schools now)
NoHomoHowell Who? Days done days done days done gone the sun gone the sun gone the sun from the sea from the hill from the sky all is well all is well safely rest safely rest God is nigh God is nigh God is nigh
My guide patrol (im a young leader, becoming a leader this year) have changed the final sentence of taps from 'God is nigh' to 'friends goodbye'. It promotes the community, prevents those who dont believe in God from feeling uncomfortable, and fits the space exactly ☺️
The song is taps i think... our unit actually speeds it up and we do the macerana along with it
that's something I don't get. Why UK and United states don't make genderless groups? like... The rest of the world? I mean, I live in Colombia, and there are few boy and girl scout groups, but the rest of the groups are just... Scouts. And we get kind of mad when non-scouts call us "boy scouts", not even here but in many other countries. So why in the US and the UK there aren't genderless groups?
In the UK, Scouts is genderless - it used to be boy scouts but now females can join too. Girl Guides is only female however, and every girl in my unit has at some point expressed that they enjoy that, particularly in knowing that they have an option to go to a mixed gender group, or come to Guides and be with all females :) (I was never a scout as their activities didn't interest me, and my friends were girl guides, so thats what I went with and I've never regretted it)
We played a game when I was in Cubs and Scouts called "Stone henge Rugby" the rules were "You have to get the ball over your opponents try line by any means" that was it! It's amazing no one ever got hurt!
I did scouts! but I'm a girl...the only girl in scouts
I'm a girl and a scout, don't worry 😂
+BlueBell yay I'm not the only girl scout!!
+gem nana I am the only girl in my troop, are you British or American?
+BlueBell British
I'm a girl n went from beavers n now im an explorer scout XX
once in scouts (when i was 7) a kid put a knife to my throat because my dad almost hit his brother.
Holy crap what happened after that?
(Btw I love your username)
a nice set øf tupperware an adult came and took him away
MY EMO AND PHANDOM FRIENDS I HAVE FOUND MY FAMILY
YEET WASSUP HAMILFAM
|-/
being in scouts was one of the best things I did as a girl in an all-girls school, because I think it's so important to have mixed environments :)
i just got off my duke of edinburgh yesterday, we did 14.5km a day carrying all our stutt
*stuff
my sister did duke of Edinburgh and I personally would not be able to carry those bags...
Try ten tors with the 25 miles
same :/ still pretty achey tbh
Try the Southern 50 with 50 miles
If you was in the American scouts we have a hike called phelmont that is 100 miles long
The Great Outdoors PHILMONT is a Scout Reservation and active ranch with miles and miles of MANY trails, checkpoints, and activities. It's so much more than hiking man...
I have two friends that are Eagle Scouts. One of them, their project was building a new sign for our town's library. Took him about a month.
Isnt the girl version of scouts called guides in the uk
+thepinkukulele (thepinkukulele) ye
In Canada too
+Evan Edinger Yi
guides is just the older version of brownies. and girls can be scouts too i think ( or at least they can be explorers which is scouts for teenagers). the whole brownie/guides thing is seperate to scouts. so it's not really the 'girl version' if girls can be scouts too... (in the uk)
or the brownies
i'm in girl scouts wow now i'm wondering if there's a secret cult in that too
There's not
+Lindsey Barney rip
+annaoddle yeah I'm in Boy Scouts and the order of the arrow seems really weird and I don't understand it at all. All I know is that they have us vote for people in our troop to join it
+annaoddle also nice profile picture lol
Wher I'm from we don't have 'boy scouts' and 'girl scouts', it's all mixed gender ( although mostly boys)
I'm in Venturing and work at a Boy Scout camp during the summer. I love Scouting. I never did Girl Scouts. I joined Venturing and BSA when I was 19.
I betrayed the brownies by going to scouts when I left
I'm doing my d of e next year!
Superfrog same
Superfrog I'm doing my expedition this weekend kill me
Would definitely love to make a video about Scouting today with you :)
Oh yeah, when I was in scouts, I reached the rank of EtErNaL SCouT.
I went to a scout group in England and I have a riffle badge
I refused to do the pledge-thing in brownies until they took the "I love god" part out
HAS ANYONE SEEN THE MOVIE ABOUT THE PINEWOOD DERBY?!?!!?!?!?!!? ITS THE BEST THING EVER
Ive been in many pinewood derbies and I won first place once
for us in _________ OA (order of the arrow) is not a secret
wow that's so freaking interesting! I didn't know much about scouting in both US and UK cause I'm Finnish¤tly live in Russia (loving it) my scout experience is so different: we have a mixed group, you can become a scout once you turn 12 after finishing five challenges (equal for all genders). scout-community is full of really caring&supportive and generally very nice people, and there is not such a thing like "let the boys do all the hard work and stay in the side". it's funny how I didn't even know scouting existed and now it is my pation
I did rainbows, Brownies and then Boy Scouts in the UK. Are girls allowed in boy scouts in America?
my fondest memories of scouts are capture the flag and cooking cakes in grapefruit skins.
(nvm the girls comment I just watched the rest of the video XD)
It's just called Scouts, not Boy Scouts in the UK.
in my scouting, Girls were only Scout leaders.
No girls aren't allowed in Boy Scouts, there are Girl Scouts though.
Scouts is awful for me bc I'm 13 and everyone else is 9 years old and talk about nothing but Minecraft
They would be in Cubs and you in Scouts though, so you shouldn't be there at the same time.
+Rebecca Bryce +Rebecca Bryce That depends on what country's scouts you're in. The scout group I was in had Bear/tiger/fox: 5-8 Snake/eagle/shark: 9-13 Wolf: 14-15
Rebecca Bryce
I'm in the UK, where you are in Scouts from age 9-13 and then to Explorers from 13-18
I'm britsih and have been scouting for years and may I ask you where you come from? In our area we have Cubs 7-10, Scouts 10-14, Explorers 14-18.
I'm British and we have Cubs: 7.5-10, Scouts: 10.5-14 I think.
I got fairly high up in the Order of the Arrow in scouting. It was pretty cool we had OA member only events during summer camp and jamborees. I know it sounds kinda nerdy but it was pretty fun to be in a "secret organization".
I was an atheist when I was in scouts and every one knew it and although I didn't, my whole troop really pushed me to get past life scout. I really was just in it for the camping ever other week.
Also that was about 10 ish years ago that I left Boy Scouts and joined adventure scouts, shits tight yo.
Omfg I live next to brown sea island!
Will Tabor omg omg that is so amazing im so jealous im crying
Jimbo sarcasm is my best friend
XLZ Clan wait but sarcasm is my best friend STAY AWAY
I got attacked by peacocks and stood in an ants nest when we went to Brownsea Island... It was a fun day! 😂
Poole
I just recently went to an international Scout jamboree and i met some BSA and it was so cool to talk about how different scouts are!
Just a causal American Star Scout passing through
WOO! Stars unite, but I am not going to be one for long, I'm getting my life first the scout meeting of the year.
same here
FaZeBooce Eagle Scout my dudes, keep going! I believe in you! Also, try to make it into the Order of the Arrow!
The Pantaloon
+Evan Edinger They said he had lost his mind
+JoshuaFunDun you have learned
+frezzmaster way to soon
+Bri Schmitz you should never trust the pantaloon
I was Eagle Scout and in the OA as well. Loved every bit of it all in the BSA.
Was anyone else in the rainbows and the brownies
EDIT: did any other brownies go to the diamond jubilee and meet the queen
*insert Edgy/emo band names here* * I did brownies for 3 weeks now I do scouts and I'm in uk
I didnt go to the diamond jubilee as a brownie but I went to both guides and brownies 100 year celebrations
what about air cadets
ejsmasher777 one of the boys at my school does that - he's 14 and learning to fly a plane in simulators... Go UK? 😂 🇬🇧
ejsmasher777 my 13 year old friend does it and he can fly a plane
ay I'm in the air cadets, just came back from an RAF camp
Air Cadets is not part of scouts
Air cadets is the best I’ve been part of them since May I’ve been flying and it was amazing we do some shooting and a lot of archery, which I love
If I recall, there was 4 phases of the Cub Scouts...Tiger, Bear, Wolf, and Webelo. Because the patches were diamonds (squares turned 45° on their points) and you could sew them onto your uniform into a 4-piece diamond.
Why are Americans BTEC everything?
Maybe explain to them what BTEC means, no such phrase over here in the states.
Americans invented boyscouts, it is a weird para-military organization with ranks and badges. Why did other countries adopt it?
@@tjstarr2960 No... No they didn't? They literally didn't. The scouts were founded by Robert Baden Powell, an Englishman.
@@tjstarr2960 St George, the patron saint of England, is also the patron saint of Boy Scouts. Scouting could not be a more English organisation in origin.
Beavers and Cubs were such a great time honestly, scouts was good but they put me in a few weeks after I turned 10 and it was a bit too soon for me. But the camps were SO GOOD and I miss it honestly.
Been in scouting for 16 years now, honestly the best experience off my life, going on to get my wood beads now and honestly scouting is the best thing in the world
Actually I was in Boy Scouts from 2011-2015 in the coed branch of Venture Crew :) We were completely mixed in with the troop and held rank alongside the guys of the troop
As a Queen Scout (UK) this is really interesting to watch! :)
I went through the Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and then Panthers. I started training to become a Leader and worked as a Beaver/Cub Leader as part of my training.
I remember going to my boyfriend's Eagle Scout ceremony when we were 15. Its so cool hearing about different kinds of Scouts both in the US and now in the UK :)
