It isn't on the list because it happened so long ago that the death estimates are really rough estimates and there is a lot of lack in knowledge of the eruption

You should add the Lake Toba eruption in this list too, because it almost caused human extinction 75.000 years ago. Global population was about 2 million people. After the eruption only two or three thousand were left, and these are our ancestors. In a way we all owe our lives to those few thousand survivors.

A lot of comments asking where's the Toba supervolcanic eruption. Two things to keep in mind on that:
(1) The video is specifically referencing eruptions "in human history". While that is sometimes used to refer to all the time humans have been on earth, it's more commonly used to refer to _recorded_ history, the time since humans started writing things down about what happened. Writing was first developed around 5,200 years ago.
(2) The Toba catastrophe theory is still controversial. Some areas of the globe show traces of significant climate change at the time of that eruption, but others don't. Evidence for a "genetic bottleneck" (drastic reduction of human population) is not really conclusive either way. So we can't be sure of its impact on human life even within a couple of orders of magnitude.
I'm shocked that Philippines ain't here like we're even studying about the Volcano that erupted on 1992 if I'm not mistaken in my history class here in Australia
As big as Pinatubo's eruption was it only resulted in about 800 deaths if you include the typhoon that slammed the area at the same time the volcano blew its top.
Not many people died in that eruption but the effect of the volcano was felt worldwide. Global temperature decreased because of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption.

Actually; Mount Pinatubo erupted in June of 1991. This is the most high profile volcanic eruption in the Philippines. One volcano I'm worried about is Mount Paektu. This volcano straddles the border of China and North Korea. If Mount Paektu erupts; North Korea will be royally screwed by volcanic ashfall, poison gasses, and lava flows. South Korea and Japan will be dealt a softer blow from the eruption as they are further away from the mountain; China would be spared from the poison gasses and ashfall as the winds tend to blow towards North Korea.

The title is incorrect, time should be "in 17 until 20 centuries" not "in human history".
Yup, otherwise a few more would have made that list. Although, much of our knowledge on super volcanos locations and eruptions are still ongoing, since even the term super volcanoes was invented/made popular in 2000s and mega calderas weren't too well known. For Pete sakes, there were only originally 7 known ones and now we're at almost 30+.

@@stormzzy6347 Indeed, volcanologists need heavy evidence to prove that it's a fact instead of a theory and find out if the whole catastrophe with the bottlenecking of human race is real or was caused by another reason.

2). Tambora Eruption 1816 : resulting in defeat to France and leaving Europe out of the summer.
3). Krakatao Eruption 1883 : causing crop failures and famine in America and Europe

I came here after Taal volcano's eruption in Philippines. I live in the same region where the province of the volcano is located and the ashfall was bad. I feel bad for those who suffered more.😞😞😞
