Florence + The Machine - Lover To Lover (Lyrics)
I've been losing sleep
I've been keeping myself awake
I've been wandering the streets
For days and days and days
Going from road to road
Bed to bed
Lover to lover
And black to red
But I believe
I believe
There's no salvation for me now
No space among the clouds
And I feel I'm heading down
That's alright
That's alright
That's alright
That's alright
And I've been taking chances
I've been setting myself up for the fall
I've been keeping secrets
From my heart and from my soul
Going from road to road
Bed to bed
Lover to lover
And black to red
But I believe
I believe
There's no salvation for me now
No space among the clouds
And I feel I'm heading down
But that's alright
That's alright
That's alright
That's alright
Road to road, bed to bed
And lover to lover and black to red
And road to road, bed to bed
And lover to lover
No space among the clouds
And I feel I'm heading down
That's alright
That's alright
That's alright
That's alright
That's alright
That's alright
Yeah, road to road, bed to bed
And lover to lover and black to red
And road to road, bed to bed
Lover to lover, to lover, to lover, to lover, to lover, to lover, to lover
To lover, to lover, to lover, to lover (Woo-hoo)
No salvation for me now
No salvation for me now
No salvation for me now
No salvation for me now
(Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh)
'Lover to Lover' was directed by Vincent Haycock. Music video by Florence + The Machine performing Lover To Lover. (C) 2012 Island Records, a division of Universal Music Operations Limited
I was actually on the set of this video during filming. Florence's voice is so amazingly powerful, we could hear her singing over the track half way down the street by the trailers. Such a beautiful woman with such amazing talent, even though in the words of her manager and a couple others, she was having a crappy day that day.
This song is the bridge between Ceremonials and How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful
Can be. Same director.
She should be an actress... she has such a powerfull sense of expresivity... her expressions are just to real.
I second this! She could be an actress or a model or really anything she wants to be!!! I wonder if she will ever act in maybe other people's music videos. (I remember her job in Sweet Nothing made me sob, because it was so convincing!)

I have never disliked a song by her. Every song she writes has such a raw beauty about it. its incredible
Every song from every album including Dance Fever is exceptional!
This is, by far, my favorite Florence and the Machine song. Hands down. I love how they incorporate rock, soul, pop & even gospel in their music. Awesome music.
Bruh her vocals are astounding
bruh? is that an actual word or just a grunting noise made by mammals of a lower order? my guess is that it's the second.
Ronney Rendon just shut up and take your anti-bitch pill, honey.
@@ronrendon Ok, boomer
For me this is one of the underrated songs of her.
I have no words for how much I love this song and Queen of Peace
Queen of Peace SLAYS my unworthy existence
+Solomon Haha your existance makes the planet better
Queen of Peace RULES!!!
They're wonderfully unspeakeable
Florence is a goddess. What I love about her is the pure power she puts out when she sings. She wears her emotions on her sleeves and just rocks it!!
It's funny that this was the last single from Ceremonials since it actually leads onto the new album really well, especially the video.
Okay I'm kinda mind blown lol
+alexf02071999 same director Vincent Haycock ;)
I couldn't agree more.
@@beatlesada98 oh for fuck sake... me to! 😯
Florence has mentioned this too and I love it. It seems to be a prominent theme with her music videos and upcoming album cycles. Another great example is how Big God seems to literally flow into Dance Fever so effortlessly.
The best female voice ever to have been born.. it's like se sings from her heart and puts all the soul she has..Not only in this song
Anyone else feels that this video could easily fit the odyssey mini movie?
I really agree with you.
Yeah so its not just me! :D Thanks for the comment Lorena! :)
IT was directed by the same guy who directed the Odyssey so maybe thats why you think it could fit in :]
Alex Blessed ues
yeah either at the start or end
This woman is just amazing. Untouchable.
I think Florence would do very well in a movie; her face can easily express deep emotions
I thought the same thing when I saw this video. She is so unbelievably talented.
Nathan Robertson she got an offer for a role in the new star wars film, so yes
Yes! In fact Florence has been rumored to have her first theatrical role in an upcoming movie!
Source: collider.com/weightless-cast-runtime-terrence-malick/
Do you remember that time the rumor circulated that she would be in Star Wars? She said it was the most exciting 30 minutes of her life!!!
I swear this song kills me everytime. One of her best songs by far. What the water gave me as well.
this song is so severely underrated, much like ben mendelsohn as an actor
I'm absolutely addicted to this song. But it's alright!
I see what you did there
It's alright!!!!
Does anyone notice how Florence uses the four elements of earth, air, fire and water at the same time in this video? The beach represents earth and she sings about "space among the clouds" (representing air and water respectively) around a bonfire
This video must be part of The Odyssey. Period
I wish this song got more attention
Same
Came for Ben Mendelsohn, stayed for the song. What a time!
I came for the song and found Ben Mendelsohn?! Wut! A welcome surprise.
Same!!
Yes! #BenMendelsohn 🙌🏼🖤
Me too, just saw a reference to him being in her vid but holy moly she has some voice, amazing song, video and he’s brilliant
Ive been a huge fan of both Florence and Ben separately (Ben is one of my two fave actors ever, gosh I’m so in love with him, aaahh 😄) and so this is just MUAH *chef’s kiss*

To lover to lover...
No salvation for me now...
No salvation for me now...
No salvation for me now...
No salvation for me now...
Florence's music is like a soundtrack to any film or book you ever saw or read
The sign she does at the end extending her arm towards the fire is the same she does at the end of Long and Lost towards the ocean....
And the one in Third Eye!!!
And Queen of Peace!
3:53 OMG it's the same hand gesture she uses throughout The Odyssey. Now more than ever I believe this is the real start of HBHBHB.
Directed by the same guy as well!
The actor in this video appears in "What Kind of Man" video as well ^.^
+TheBreadshit really? I don't remember that and this guy is a big-name actor
She does it on stage too
One of her best songs. Really heartfelt and true.
Dude, she's the BEST crying actress. Those are the realest tears ever.
In the behind the scenes, they said how Florence showed up, sat down on the edge of that bed and just started sobbing even before they began everything and the cinemetographer turns to the director... "I think she's going to be just fine..."
In short, all those tears were 1000% real...
Forgot how much I love Florence, came to listen after a long while. Makes me shiver, music with soul.
CEREMONIALS IS NEXT LEVEL
There are no salvation - I'm in love
No space among the sounds
Florence + The Machine + Ben Mendelsohn = GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
I feel like this video certainly have a connection with "What Kind of Man", didn't?
Jonathan Castro Yeah, it's like the end of this video and thi end of What Kind of Man are very related, I don't know. Maybe we have to wait to see the other videos to fully "understand" what's going on
Jonathan Castro maybe it's because it has the same director as What Kind Of Man
Jonathan Castro omg I thought exactly the same thing!!
choiseunghyunns maybe it's sung by the same person ,she has her own style and path to her music and videos
yes, that's obvious enough haha, but there may actually be a connection aside from being directed by the same director, i saw the behind the scenes of what kind of man by dazed and confused and they showed snippets of lover to lover
3 million is not enough for this song
Agreed with many of these comments so glad someone understands, I just LOVE Florence there really isn’t actual words to describe her
All the love from here in Zimbabwe, I pray to see you live someday.
Florence you have to come to Brazil!!!
I really love Florence. She's so beautiful and her voice so powerful and... I don't know, there are no words to describe it, you just need to listen to her to understand what I mean haha.
Oh my god!!!!!!! Her vocals in this song!!!!! No one can top Florence Welch. If anybody thinks they can, I dare them to try.
Gemini Linarh Sia :)
Love description in four minutes twenty secondes
Florence is my goddess
there's no salvation for me now ,..
Not only does she has the most beautiful and powerful voice in the world! she is a god damn good actress!
-Please don't ever stop making music Florence
!
Your songs are like Poetry every last one of them and it puts me in a Trans
agreed! i feel the same exact way....
that's alrIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT, THAT'S ALRIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!
OMG HER VOCALS!!!!! SOO GOOOOOD!!!
Most amazing voice out of anyone ever this past 15 years. She's inspirational, beautiful, and a genius. Her music isn't meant to be played repeatedly on the radio to get stuck in your head just until the" next best thing pops up" she makes her music to instill a little thing most music lacks today...emotion. Hell to even give people a jolt of emotion. Im sure there's at least one song that any of you could listen to, it will strike a nerve and you can relate to it.
OMG I LOVE HER
In this video, Florence is going underwater, in What Kind Of Man, she's being brought out of the ocean...hmmmm...suspicious, besides, the video story is kind of similar I think...
Aaaaaand Lover to Lover was the last single from Ceremonials. What Kind of Man was the first single from How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. Coincidence?
Rodrigo Rivas WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW THANX FOR MAKING ME TO REALIZE IT
+Rodrigo Rivas I think LTL is the actual chapter 0 of the HBHBHB odyssey. Like an introduction: it's the first video they make with Vincent Haycock.
Virginia Woolf...Martin Eden... a fee more. All ending their life in the water.. because of love in one way or another. Also in never let me go, "looking up from underneath.."..and what the water gave me about Virginia..sorry a bit chaotic, just trying to remember all the references.
Was the same director mate...no coincidence
God, how much I love this era!
She's so good man... it's astonishing!
This woman. Keep blessing us Goddess Florence
That voice is so astounding. Her vocals are a work of art
Her VOICE alone is a musical instrument. GORGEOUS sound.
Upon a buried body. The best cover of this song
her lyrics are so full of passion, life, and music. and her voice is a music all on its own.
Her voice is magnificent and the video is awesome!!!
Okay, I've only found out about florence + the machine about 4 to 5 months ago but I've already heard about 50 songs from her and have liked all of them.
Florence is AMAZING in concert! I would go again in a heart beat. She is hands down my favorite artist. I never get tired of listening to her albums over and over.
Florence Welch, Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee are all amazing vocalists! Great song as always Florence + The Machine makes great songs! Great band!
This song has such a "How Big How Blue How Beautiful" feel to it. If you ask me, it's a nice foreshadowing of good things to come for F+tM :D
The director from Lover To Lover is the same one from The Odyssey. Florence loved his style sp much that she decided to work with him again for the new album.
+VRM.Ludenberg Makes much more sense. Thanks for the info :)
Damn, that song is just amazing! People who disliked this - you don't understand the beauty of music! FLORENCE TEAM!
I feel like I'm watching The Odyssey
My body is ready for new Florence material
I didn't know I can have goosebumps 4 minutes long
I hear the voice- I hear the Machine-Can't describe the feeling, the shimmers- a whole new level of beauty
When she is standing in that doorway, shaking her hand at her lover, with her hair pinned up, it reminds me so much off the Sweet Nothing video. The hurt and conflict/ GOSH either this girl is a KILLER actress OR she sings all of this from experience and it is easy for her to make it real. Everything just looks so natural!!! Her talent never ends!
ben mendelsohn is my man
Wait is Ben Mendelsohn the mustache guy in the video?
Popped by for Ben Mendelsohn (and the song is delightful!)
Florence Welch,a true artist, still remains extremely underrated....
Her voice is universal.
I love Florence, she has such an amazing voice. I just wish I could sing like her.
She's just so amazing, there isn't the right word to describe her voice and beauty. And yeah! SO POWERFUL AND MOVING IM LIKE GONNA CRY.
Florence you're a Queen
My favourite female vocalist of the 21st century. No one else comes even close
this video is wonderful. florence is a force of nature...and ben mendelsohn is so beautiful
Don't mind me, just lipsyncing the lyrics into my hairbrush while jumping around my room
Florence is my all time favorite. I can listen to her songs for days and not get bored of them because she's simply perfect.
Her voice is....... OMG 3
Nearly 3 million? This as least deserves a couple dozen of millions.
The inspiration flowing thru her is amazing. Hope the industry doesn't snuff out her flame ever. (like it has for endless artists)
Wow I really love this video, it completely captures the emotions of when a relationship has gotten unhealthy and is ending, when it's just gotten too stressful on the heart and there's too many problems and too much tention and it feels like it just can't be resolved, and you're so tired and want it to end but the bond of love is what's kept you together and even made it worse, and everything just needs to be burnt in order to have the weight lifted and to be free again.
Essa música é poderosa
I still can't believe she is going to be in Star Wars 7 how perfect can this woman get? But II won't forget that the band is amazing too not just Florence
Her voice makes me relax!!
Love Your Voice
Who needs drugs when you've got Florence Welch?
As vezes eu esqueço o quanto amava a Florence, mas basta uma música pra me lembrar porque ela foi meu amor por tanto tempo
Eu tbm
I love this song, this vid, that woman. I love everything about her
Thanks ROSE
I cant believe that this song had only 3 millions.
Florence is amazing singer!
I was actually on set for this video. It does not do her appearance nor her voice much justice listening to it this way rather than live. It was an amazing experience and Florence is a wonderful woman!
awesome voice
She should make movies too, her acting in her videos is amazing. I'd love to have her in a movie, I mean, it would be like a double dosis of awesomeness
Essa música é uma obra de arte
I love the contrast between the fire and the ocean
Florence is just amazing. Simple as that.
I love this song because she sounds like she is so defiant and unapologetic for having many lovers. My interpretation anyways ;)
Completely agree. Could not have said it better myself :-)
Everything flo does is a masterpiece. It's not just a music video or a song with her, it's a deeper story. #inlove
Love from Italyyyy, beautiful song
Florence is phenomenal.
So far Between Two Lungs and All This And Heaven Too at Royal Albert Hall are my two favourites live performances and the best ones IMO. What's yours? I need crually some live performances of the band as I've listened to all the songs already.
