    Good day, glad you showcased Balule, we used to group camp there. During our last visit that low water bridge deck was submerged under water.
    My kids used to call the water bucks O-bokke, impala M-bokke as in Mac Donalds bokke and giraffes kameeldoringboomperde.
    They were also crazy about the burned porridge at the bottom of the potjie and called it vaspap.
    Safe travels
    Frans

    Geniet julle videos so! So dankbaar!

    This brings back so many memories of our camping days in Kruger. At Ngotso North watering hole was where, in 1999, we saw our first ever pride of lions.

      We didn't visit the Park for the rare animals, but for the overall experience. 🚙😍 If we were lucky enough to see any scarce species, it was a huge bonus and we would include foorage of it in the video of the particular camp in the general area where we had the sighting.

    "A sausage roll under a sausage tree!" Hehe... the shade and relaxing atmosphere out in the middle of nowhere is stellar! BTW, I greatly miss those pies, but not the electric fences. I once sideswiped one (in Namibia) and paid the price.⚡️⚡️⚡️

    Thanks guys for a fantastic visit to Balule Camp .Remember in the 1960's and early 70's we used to use parafin lamps and cookers when we went camping. You had to keep pumping them !! Lekker Wildebeest Patties. I have eaten Buffalo and of course my favourite , Kudu., but never Wildebeest. Did you hear any lions roaring during the night ? I agree with Curtis about the lovely setting and atmosphere at Balule Camp. No miskiete jag ? Die verweker van malaria sing nou jou laaste aria. Can't wait for the next episode. So nice to see an old Tusker still alive and not poached .🐘

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  11 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! 🚙😁 We didn't hear any lions roar the night we were at Balule, no. 🦁 The mozzies, on the other hand, were zooming about, but fortunately we had stocked up adequately on repellent sprays and sticks and such, so we were sorted and they thankfully left us alone for the most part. We believe Kruger is still a risk area for malaria, so we tried to take the basic precautions. 😨🦟

    Happy New Year you two! Another great trip, full of beautiful views over and around Balule and the Olifants river -- one of my favourite camps. Your close up shots of the zebra were very special Curtis. I won't be surprised if someone like National Geographic Magazine comes after you! I will remember this trip for the fantastic sunset and sunrise, and the praying mantis you had supper with. I'm ready for the next part of the tour.
    Keep safe (lions are not always so lazy as they appear)!

    I’m officially jealous, Balule is without a doubt my favorite camp in the park. I was last there a few years ago and from what I see , the only thing that has changed is the location of the braai’s, they used to be along the fence between hut 6 and the freezer room. Glad to see Justice is still there and wonder if the ablutions still have its “Resident Leopard “👍👍
    Totally enjoy your videos 🙏🏻

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  11 місяців тому +2

      We specifically asked Justice about leopard in the area, but his only reference to them was the one they spotted from camp three days prior. I so wish there were still a resident leopard around camp, that would've been super special to see! 🐆😍

  • @cbyhahn1

    I spent 160 nights in the park altogether, and another 22 nights will be added in January/February 2025 (Malelane 1, Letaba 1, Punda Maria 5, Satara 7, Lower Sabie 3, Croc Bridge 4, and Malelane 1). However, Balule is one of the few Sanparks Camps that I misseed so far (except Maroela, Sirheni, Talâmati, and Tamboti). It will definitively on my list for late 2025!

    Een wildebeest burger … kortom, gezien jullie aanprijzing en het enthousiasme van Sonia moet ik ooit een keer terug naar Zuid-Afrika om die eens te proeven! 🍔 Wat knap Curtis dat je de sausage met die dot ketchup netjes kon eten, bij mij zou er allang een klodder saus op mijn kleding zijn beland 😅. Die sprinkhaan deed een leuke gymnastiek oefening over de fles heen 🦗En wat een oog voor details heb je, zowel die oude spoorrails balk als de in de struiken verstopte uil worden waarschijnlijk zelden opgemerkt door andere toeristen. Maar ja, je bent trein en spoorwegen fan of niet 🚂?! Goed om te zien dat de campeerders zo netjes met alle faciliteiten omgaan, het glimt en blinkt alsof er een roedel Nederlandse huisvrouwen heeft gepoetst 😁🧼🧽. Last but not least, ook nu weer legde je veel prachtige dieren vast. Een giraf met dorst moet sportief aangelegd zijn om diep door de knieën te buigen voor een slokje water 🦒 De ster van deze episode was wat mij betreft de soort van hamervogel op de reling van de brug, een fraaie close up 👍

      It's a Cadac Supalite 300 which we bought with our skottel about 25 years ago. It surprises me every time and still works as well as the day we bought it. 😁 We just buy new mantles when necessary.

    Hello. The Boabab in Balule is the most southern Boabab in the Kruger park. Is there still the resident leopard in the tree at the ladies bathroom?

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  11 місяців тому +2

      Interesting about the baobab in camp. 🌳 On our map, the southernmost baobab in the Park is indicated as being between Satara and Tshokwane, but I'm no authority on the baobabs in the Park, so I really don't know for sure. The baobab I filmed is the closest tree to the ladies' side of the ablution block and the camp attendants didn't mention a resident leopard close to camp and we specifically asked about leopard in the area. 🤷🏻‍♂️🐆 I'm not sure if you're perhaps referring to the ladies' bathroom on the camping side.

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  11 місяців тому

      I contemplated including accommodation rates, but we had a lengthy stay and with all the variables like number of guests, web discounts, conservation fees, dates of travel, etc, it was just too much work. 🤷🏻‍♂️The SANParks website has all that info available and it's quite user-friendly once you've navigated around a little.

    Hi guys, we really enjoy your content from Australia but wanted to say that the footage for your Kruger trip was not clear on our screen, especially when you are driving? Is this something that we could rectify, or is this something only you can control? Thanks .

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  11 місяців тому +1

      Many thanks! 🚙🤩 It sounds like it's only the Kruger episodes which aren't clear on your screen and I'm not sure why that would be the case. I haven't heard any similar report from other viewers and the footage is clear on our screens at home. It could be that a UA-cam setting changed for you. If you click on the little gear icon below the viewing screen, you should have an HD option enabled. I used the same cellphone I used on previous trips to film with in Kruger, so there really shouldn't be any difference. I hope you're able to resolve the problem. 🤞🏻
