Very cool, I taught guitar for several years and you do a beautiful job of explaining how to play this piece. Now all I have to do is go learn how to put it together and practice it. Thanks, Paul

I have watched this video numerous times... Zorba is well beyond my pay grade... but I love the last 10 minutes... Something aspect of this guy (whose name I can never understand - and I am of Greek descent) that really comes through clearly and shines brightly... I guess it's his love of music and Life - his intrinsic Zorba!

Excellent lesson. I used to crank this in the 60's. When I was 8 or 9. The dude had several Herb Albert & The TJ Brass albums and I always liked this song. I wish someone would have influenced me at that age to play the guitar. But they didn't. I was 17 before I became interested in it. So I probably missed alot of good stuff waiting that long because after 45 years of playing, I still suck. But it's still fun to try. Thank you

I came across a comment suggesting that a couple shots of ouzo would solve our problem in playing this song easily. Yet, let me tell you my mom used to get me taking private math lessons when I was in primary school and she served the teacher with a bottle of beer along potato chips and the result was I had always failed in math quizzes.😂😂 Since then I am not in good terms with math....

Do you mean the zeros? Just play the open string.
Play the alternating bass-line with your thumb. For the "3 Os" pick the indicated strings with your index-, middle- and ring-finger simultaneously.
    Hope it helps...
It's a great video and a nice tune to play.

I found you becouse of this video, like 6 or 7 years ago. I just ended up giving up, i tried a bit but found it impossible to coordinate those variations over the bass/chord with accuracy. You know what i mean. Now i'm almost 21 and i feel that i'll never play how i want until i have this under my fingers: Any advices or videos to get those rythmns easily? Feel like the melodies and bass/chords are in a cross rythmn, which i still find tough to play usually. I'm working on some of your travis picking videos, which i've just found, the polyrythmn one, but still those are easy compared to this song. Do you remember how did you got it right?

thanks for the lesson. So many people play this in A major, I think I like it better in G now. Great idea with the open G tuning. I never thought about sometimes playing with the C major in place of the A minor. I request some day the beautiful song also by Mikis Theodorakis "varka sto gialo" βάρκα στο γιαλό "boat on the shore" if you have time. thanx so much again dude..

  • @SmilingDahliaFlower-wz6ld

Extremely hard. The difficult part is that the same notes are on different strings and in different frets. Is there an easy way to get used to the place of notes in different frets and on different strings. Usually one can find them counting on the frets once you know the open string note but one can easily fail when shifting the fingers. That is too hard.
