  • As part of the TFL Northern Line Extension project a new tunnel and 2 new stations were to be constructed between Kennington and Battersea.
CEMEX were awarded the primary lining of the tunnel and Shafts on the Kennington section by contractor Flo.
As the project was taking place in a busy urban environment CEMEX proposed to use a fully pre-blended dry silo solution to limit the noise and construction traffic.
Product testing took place at our dedicated production and trial facility in Dove Holes, spraying sample panels using a range of accelerators (provided by our partner NORMET)
At the start of the project we established six forty tonne silos and Gigamixers between two locations to store and produce the product.
Sprayed Concrete is pneumatically projected onto the surface at high velocity. To minimise any rebound, the product is highly engineered by blending controlled aggregate sources, CEM one, microsilica, admixtures and steel fibres.
We lined the tunnel and 2 shafts with over 13,000 tonnes of our CEMEX Sprayed concrete over a period of 6 months.
