Great list , seen all but cursed . Love all the films on this list apart from Ghost ship ( love the opening though) . My hidden gems would be slasher films like Valentine with Denise Richards and David Borneanz from Buffy from the early 2000s / late nineties .
Just yesterday, I was really in a 2000s horror mood and re-watched the 2005 House of Wax remake and the 2009 My Bloody Valentine remake, so this video comes at a perfect time!
Dread, also a Books of Blood adaptation from the 2000s, is also pretty damn good. We were supposed to get Pig Blood Blues, but that one went the way of so many announced Barker joints.
I got "Creep" on VHS for my 18th birthday in 2006 and it had me shocked to my absolute core! It is so gruesome and horrifying, I don´t think I could ever rewatch it!
It's funny you mention Ghost Ship as a hidden gem, because there was an even lesser known "haunted ship" movie in 2002 called "Below" about a submarine in WWII that experiences supernatural occurrences. It is, IMHO, the superior movie, and if you haven't seen it, it's definitely worth a watch. Also, I LOVE your t-shirt 😀
One of my faves from the 00's that literally nobody ever talks about is The Pool or Swimming Pool in some regions, it's a b-movie slasher starring James McAvoy and Isla Fisher (in her first ever role). I watched this movie sooo much as a kid and reccomend it to anybody that's in the mood for an obscure 00's slasher 😁 Also for anybody that liked Turistas I reccomend a 2009 thriller called The Perfect Getaway starring Timothy Olyphant and Milla Jovovich.
I’d love to see a video on people who are trapped and trying to escape! Here’s another video idea-You recently mentioned that horror movies don’t get recognized at the Academy Awards. I’d love to your opinions on movies that deserve Oscars. So you could give awards for Best Horror Film, Best Actor/Actress, Best Original Screenplay, Best Score/Music, etc… I know you’re busy with life as a new mom, but if you ever have time, I’d love for you to consider filming these. I’m a new mom too and share in your pp struggles. I watched your 1 month update. You’re doing a wonderful job. Would love to see more motherhood/baby videos from you as well 💗 I have 6 week old and it’s so nice to find someone who’s going through the same things as me. Hugs!
All The Boys Love Mandy Lane from 2006 is the best looking, sounding (soundtrack) and edited slasher i have ever had the pleasure of watching. I like that people seem to miss this movie. Festival delights, publishing hell and the second premiere after many years, which went unnoticed. A wonderfully tragic story.
I've been recently going through the 2000s era of Horror movies. An era I previously considered the worst time for horror and It's been slowly winning me back. Cabin Fever, House of Wax, Joy Ride, Wrong Turn and Slither have all become movies I would highly recommend. I have a list on Letterboxd called "Blockbuster Video - Horror Section" with 120 films from the 2000s. I plan on going through all them eventually.
Not enough people talk about Lake Mungo. The acting is so believable and the vibes are creepy as heck 💯 Also, Wrong Turn 2 is hilarious. The funniest of the franchise, imo.
Commenting because I thought you stopped uploading, but youtube just stopped showing your uploads on my feed for no reason. I really appreciate your channel helping me sort through all the chaos, and find things worth watching.
I am such a fan of Book of Shadows. I wonder how I would have felt about it if I was one of the people who saw it at the time it came out expecting a very "Blair Witch 2" but if you put this movie on it's own, it's so nostalgic and fun!
Ashley Osborn, I *was* the exact person you describe. My disdain for Book of Shadows was LEGENDARY among my horror friends. So you can imagine their shock when, a few years ago, after reading about its troubled production history and the original intent for its interpretation, I re-watched it with that knowledge and completely changed my tune about it. I now think it’s actually a very good movie when the expectation of an in-universe BW sequel is taken out of the equation. And the Y2K nostalgia is definitely wonderful.
Fun fact: Session 9 was the last film shot at Danvers State Hospital. So many haunted asylum movies use Danvers as *the* model for creepy mental hospitals. A lot of them use shots of Danvers for their exteriors even after it was demolished.
My favorite on the list is Session 9. It was a slow burn that got really underneath your skin with the voice recordings. I watched Ghost Ship when it came out in theater and it disturbed me at that age. Looking at the film now it just has that cheesy 2000s feel. A hidden gem from the early 2000s, for me, is The Omen from 2006. I absolutely loved that film and remember seeing in the theater when it first came out.
Great job on the video! Thank you for continuing to serve us amazing content even while you’ve got your hands full in your personal life. I appreciate you! And you’re doing a great job! Thank you so much, Sarah. Ps- your hair looks super cute! ❤
Some great movies you forgot: - "Feast" (2006): This movie was made from the "Project Green Light" reality TV series contest with a budget of $1M. It's a horror comedy on the level of "Evil Dead 2". This did spawn a trilogy of films, but the production quality drops substantially. Currently on Tubi. - "The Skeleton Key" (2005): Great psychological horror movie involving voodoo.
Off topic, Ever since you had your baby & you say how difficult it is to get videos out on this channel, I always get super excited when you randomly post a video. I hope you figured out everything with the baby scheduling (not just so you can post videos obviously) but also so your healthy & happy :)
My bloody valentine staring jensen ackles is hands down one of my top favorites of the early 2000’s horror movies! Just picked up a valentines special edition at my local Walmart
the 00s is my favorite era in many ways, so naturally, horror from that time is my fave too! I especially like directing/the way movies were shot back then:)
Fragile/Frágiles from 2005 with Calista Flockhart is one of my favorite hidden gems from the 2000s. It's hard to say anything about it without giving it away, but it's about a night nurse at a children's hospital that's closing down, and the kids are being moved to a new place. But as the children are being moved, something or someone is inflicting bad bone breaks on them to keep the children there. It's really creepy and the atmosphere is spot on. If you liked The Orphanage then definitely check this out!
Frozen-trapped on a ski lift, ATM-trapped in an ATM booth, 247°F-trapped in a sauna, Fall-trapped on a satellite tower, P2-trapped in a parking lot. There was a bunch of great, cheesy, 'trapped' horror/thriller movies that came out around the same time. I'd love a video on this!
These 2000's movies are hidden gems in my opinion 1. The skeleton key(2005) 2. Venom(2005) its from the director of I know what you did last Summer, and Kevin Williamson is a producer 3. Tamara(2005) its campy, but fun
Yes! I loved Boogeyman! I probably saw it for the first time when I was tween or younger and I really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen anyone talk about it either, I’m so glad you included it in your video. I also enjoyed Boogeyman 2 and I think it’s worth checking out if you’ve never seen it.
Boogeyman was one of my favorites as a teenager with the ring, amityville, blair witch, dead silence, the descent etc.. and I agree with you, no one is talking about it but it's so good, for me as much as the others I mentioned. You can find boogeyman 2 and 3 on prime video but not the first one. Well, it is on prime in some country only.
Great video. My favorite horror films from the 2000s that I think no one talks about are Shredder, House of Wax,Jeepers Creepers and The Hitcher remake.
Surprised Ginger Snaps isn’t on here! Peak y2k goth vibes, feminist undertones, and cool practica/special effects with the transformations! I remember watching the unrated version of Cursed. Campy, but I found it an enjoyable and sort of spooky watch.
The Host, Midnight Meat Train and Turistas (I know it as Paradise Lost here in the UK) are some of my favourites, definitely very underrated! Whenever I declutter old dvds I make sure to keep any films that barely any of my friends know, because one day I’ll remember it and not be able to rewatch anywhere 😂
I recommend “The Hole” from 2001. I think it was Keira knightley’s first major role. It’s more of a psychological thriller, but first time I saw it, it was playing on the horror movie channel. I saw it in 2008, probably need to rewatch to see if I’d still like it.
I'm one of the few that absolutely LOVES 2000s horror. One of my first episodes that I recorded was Cursed. I knew very few would be interested in it , but it was so game changing for me when I first saw it. I love this list and love your affection for 2000s horror !
I wouldn't really call some of these "hidden" gems. The Host, Cursed, Turistas and Ghost Ship were all really popular and pretty well known. The hype around The Host specifically was insane.
“Cursed” actually has an unrated version which returns the film to its original r rated format with scenes that either weren’t in the pg13 version or scenes that are extended from that version. I have the unrated version on dvd and it’s great.
Ghost ship was the first horror movie I ever saw. I remember the scene where the wire cuts everyone in half and being like 😮😮😮 I loved it immediately and been a horror fan ever since. I’ve also seen the 2005 Boogeyman and it was a fav of mine for awhile, and I had completely forgotten about it!
i vividly remember scenes in boogeyman 2 because my dad watched it with me when i was 4 after we watched the dentist. he would tell me the plot of wrong turn as a bedtime story too
Love the boogeyman! I bought a copy off eBay last year because I couldn’t find it streaming. There’s a second one too, but I don’t remember that one as well.
„cursed“ is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies of all time, I watched it so many times, I just love Christina Ricci in this and I like this whole sibling thing and the suspense when you don’t know who the bad guy is, I think it could’ve been executed better but I’m still so happy with the result.
Midnight Meat Train is so good! Creep genuinely terrified me 😨 Will have to check out Session 9 after seeing your description looks really interesting 🖤
hey have you seen the after dark film collections? grave dancers, the children, and a whole bunch of others. always comes to mind when thinking about the 2000's
i watched The Host with my sister and she hated it! she was laughing at the cg the whole time and i feel like it ruined my experience of watching it, i need to rewatch it alone🤧
The Tartan Asia Extreme “brand” has some of my all time favorite movies. Bloody Reunion, Reincarnation, The Red Shoes, Koma, Infection… LOVED Session 9 too, so many movies come to mind for 2000’s favorites.
As a brazilian, is so funny watching Turistas now. Cause I remember my older siblings finding this movie at a video rental store, on late 00's, and we would joke about taking place in Brazil and laugh the whole movie. I don't think is wrong to enjoy the film, since is been a while now, but it's just weird how US folks likes to shove Brazil on stuff, everytime they wanna sound "exotic" lmao. I wouldn't like to see this being made nowadays
Ghost ship was my first real horror movie when I was a kid. I wasn’t allowed to watch horror so my uncle snuck around and let me watch it with him and I became obsessed with horror after that.
I have a distinct memory watching Boogeyman with my sister- my mom was sitting in the next room when we were watching it-she hates horror movies, so she wasn’t watching it or anything- but she was working on something close by, and could hear the movie. There was a quiet scene- and we heard this creepy whistling- and my sister and I got freaked out and had to rewind to check we both heard it correctly. And the whistle was gone. Then we just hear my mom cackling in the room next to us because she pranked us by whistling at a quiet part 😂🤣 I haven’t thought about that in a long time. Haha. Love that movie.
My personal favorite era is 2005-2008. It's such a cheesy, fun, nostalgic era for horror, music, and clothing. Also, you were the one who inspired me to get Nord, and it's been SO fun.
The way I've been trying to figure out the name of Creep for years and you just reminded me of it, thank you so much! ❤️ I really do love watching a fellow 2000s horror lover, I always want to see more but can't remember half the ones I used to love. Two more I used to really love: Wicked Little Things and Vacancy 2
One horror movie from the 2000s that I never see mentioned is DARKNESS (2002), starring Anna Paquin. Not sure if it still holds up, but it scared the shit out of me when I was a child.
I love these videos, so nostalgic I also was in high school in the early 00s so alot of these movies bring back such good memories of my friends and I renting movies on weekends and watching them at sleep overs, really enjoyed this trip down memory lane.
I am so glad you included Book of Shadows. It was something i always left on when i came across it. It was just my favorite background nouse. Now its so nostalgic. Its definitely cheesy and not for everyone. But if the early 2000s was a good time in your life, throw this baby on and be transported. ❤
I was 100% certain that Darkness Falls would be on this list and was shocked it wasn't 😮 Maybe you have another video that mentions it but I'd love to hear what you think about that one! Big nostalgia for me, it used to terrify me in like third grade
Awesome list! I'm definitely gonna check some out. The Host is free on UA-cam, Pluto and Plex :) Also yes! As a 90s kid I grew up on Boogeyman! such a hidden gem. Not sure if the new one coming out is a remake or just the same name
Ghost Ship was good! Interesting to know that the movie wasn't supposed to be what it ended up as. Thanks for the list of movie night ideas, especially the Midnight Meat Train suggestion. I will definitely watch that this weekend :)
Session 9 is amazing but I am super biased as I do love old buildings and I love supernatural psychiatric type moves and really enjoy old asylums. I dont really remember the story because its been so long but I remember the feeling fondly
For anyone with a soft spot for Ghost Ship despite it going downhill after a killer opening scene, check out the book Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes. It's a psychological horror that's basically Ghost Ship set in space.
Oh my gosh one of my fav movie of all time is Creep (2004), I have watched maybe 10 times. Also, Cursed is the only movie about werewolf that is really cool to me.
Ghost Ship and Book of Shadows Blair witch 2 are my favorites on this list. I’ll check out the others though they do seem interesting. I recommend Stay Alive as a underrated 2000s horror movie. I really liked it but it does look dated to the time for obvious reasons.

House of Wax is underrated and overhated, it's honestly such campy fun and a great thrill ride.
you should watch Club Dread (2004)! i rediscovered it earlier and from what I remember it's cheesy goodness
@@ergoth154 yess
The original story for Midnight Meat Train, by Clive Barker, is amazing.
Love Clive Barker.
Dread, also a Books of Blood adaptation from the 2000s, is also pretty damn good. We were supposed to get Pig Blood Blues, but that one went the way of so many announced Barker joints.
Reckon anyone's got the balls to adapt The Damnation Game? ;-)
Just saw the Scaredy Cats review of this. Had never heard of it before but what a title!
I absolutely love the movie
CURSED is such an underrated horror gem that is breezed over quite a bit
I agree, this is my favourite movie from my childhood
it's one of my top favourites, and no one has ever heard of it when i mention it🧌
Literally watched it as a child and recently and I love it
Session 9 is an awesome movie!! Definitely underrated. The ending was such a twist! So good.
I went to Danvers right before it burnt down and that place was absolutely creepy as hell
I don't scare easy, but the ending of Session 9 genuinely scared me. It got in my head so bad. Those goddamn voices on the tapes
This movie genuinely terrified me. One of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen, hands down. I had goosebumps at the end. That last line. Damn.
I got "Creep" on VHS for my 18th birthday in 2006 and it had me shocked to my absolute core! It is so gruesome and horrifying, I don´t think I could ever rewatch it!

very good movie with good monster but it need more kills
I was obsessed with Splinter growing up. The monster is super underrated.

Yes! Below is WAY better than Ghost Ship!
Ah yes, good one!
u have good vibes
Never heard of below , will try and find it
There are aspects of Ghost Ship in 1899 on Netflix. Along with various other film homages and themes.
Great list, Sarah! Here's a couple more : The Skeleton Key (2005), Behind the Mask (2007).
Love The Skelington Key
Skeleton key is one of my favorites

I saw The Skeleton Key as a kid becouse i got it confused with another movie and im still not able to forget it lol

I have to say, one of my favorite things about your 2000s themed videos is re-living my high school fashion through you
i vividly remember scenes in boogeyman 2 because my dad watched it with me when i was 4 after we watched the dentist. he would tell me the plot of wrong turn as a bedtime story too
yess! ive been waiting for a new video ❤
Creep genuinely terrified me 😨
Will have to check out Session 9 after seeing your description looks really interesting 🖤
hey have you seen the after dark film collections? grave dancers, the children, and a whole bunch of others. always comes to mind when thinking about the 2000's
The hole from 2001, that's my favorite hidden gem.
i watched The Host with my sister and she hated it! she was laughing at the cg the whole time and i feel like it ruined my experience of watching it, i need to rewatch it alone🤧
2001 Maniacs is another hidden gem from the 2000s. Available on Tubi (US)
The Tartan Asia Extreme “brand” has some of my all time favorite movies.
Bloody Reunion, Reincarnation, The Red Shoes, Koma, Infection…
LOVED Session 9 too, so many movies come to mind for 2000’s favorites.
omg LOVE the new editing style for the titles
2000s had some of the best horror films of all time, I loved Wrong Turn series
The way I've been trying to figure out the name of Creep for years and you just reminded me of it, thank you so much! ❤️
I really do love watching a fellow 2000s horror lover, I always want to see more but can't remember half the ones I used to love. Two more I used to really love: Wicked Little Things and Vacancy 2
omg you bringing up Boogeyman gave me flashbacks, i've seen it so many times!
See No Evil (2006) one of my favorite slashers and i've never heard anyone talks about it
One horror movie from the 2000s that I never see mentioned is DARKNESS (2002), starring Anna Paquin. Not sure if it still holds up, but it scared the shit out of me when I was a child.
I had a muscle memory when you showed Boogeyman. I remember the counting scene from this movie everytime I see a similar trope in other movies
I am SHOCKED you had never seen Cursed omg I totally thought you had, it's one of my favorites!
Cursed is my fav werewolf film along with American werewolf in London. It’s also one of my top fav Wes craven films
THANK YOU for putting Boogeyman in this list! I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THAT FILM!!! Brought me right back to middle school. 😃
Do the top 10 home invasion horror movies
I was 100% certain that Darkness Falls would be on this list and was shocked it wasn't 😮
Maybe you have another video that mentions it but I'd love to hear what you think about that one!
I have watched you for yearssss and I still am not tired of you.
Ghost Ship was good! Interesting to know that the movie wasn't supposed to be what it ended up as. Thanks for the list of movie night ideas, especially the Midnight Meat Train suggestion. I will definitely watch that this weekend :)
so glad you took my recommendation of creep! I grew up watching this (in the UK) and never see anyone talk about it
I saw Creep on TV when I was about 14 at about 1am, so it holds a special place in my heart. 💖
Hush (2008) needs more love! I think you'll like it a lot!!
I’d love to hear your opinion on Australian horror like ‘the loved ones, wolf creek, rogue, the tunnel, etc’ also hey from Sydney, love your videos 🤙🏼
Session 9 is amazing but I am super biased as I do love old buildings and I love supernatural psychiatric type moves and really enjoy old asylums. I dont really remember the story because its been so long but I remember the feeling fondly
One of my favourites!
I watched part of the host years ago. It has haunted me ever since. I've always wanted to find it again to finish it
For anyone with a soft spot for Ghost Ship despite it going downhill after a killer opening scene, check out the book Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes. It's a psychological horror that's basically Ghost Ship set in space.
WHEN I TELL YOU I SCREAMEDDDD WHEN I SAW THE VID NOTIFICATION POP UPPPPP
Oh my gosh one of my fav movie of all time is Creep (2004), I have watched maybe 10 times. Also, Cursed is the only movie about werewolf that is really cool to me.
Ghost Ship and Book of Shadows Blair witch 2 are my favorites on this list. I’ll check out the others though they do seem interesting. I recommend Stay Alive as a underrated 2000s horror movie. I really liked it but it does look dated to the time for obvious reasons.
