I wouldn’t expect anyone to see this comment but the man on the piano is named little jimmy Taylor (Jimmy). He was my papa and he passed 8 years ago. It was a sad time but I know he is standing in fromt of the risen Lord and Savior

Your grandpa was a great part of Southern Gospel Music History. Thank you guys for sharing him with us. I'm sure he's gathered around a piano in glory singing with his friends and the angels having a good time.

@@ColtFan89 thanks man! Just a fun fact Jimmy and London were best friends and I was actually named after London and now my grandma Jimmy’s wife is still alive and healthy and she is a great grandmother! Pray for her though she is having knee surgery in 2 weeks. But I know that God not might, but WILL take care of her and you and everyone who trusts in him

That's a huge blessing to still have your grandmother. If I remember right all the Rebels are gone except for Mr. Booth but I'm just glad we have these tapes to remember them by.

@@ColtFan89 yeah I’m glad. All the rebels have passed as well. Mr booth senior has passed but Ronnie booth junior is still here all though he didn’t ever sing with rebels. He actually just retired from the Booth Brothers. I say good for him! He is in his 60’s now. Jimmy wanted London to be his best man when he married my Grandmother but London died a month before he got married. But I know now they are both singing and having a grand ole time!

When I look back at Basses in Gospel music I have to say this is the pinnacle. With that being said, I don't know of anyone with a greater disparity between their speaking & singing ranges. When you hear him talk & joke around he sounds like a Bass/Baritone but he has more cut and power below C2 than any other Gospel Bass in history. I almost feel like he went out of his way to speak in a higher voice so he wouldn't be type-casted as a bass exhibitionist who wanted to be as low as possible 24/7. Just my $.02...

His speaking voice is even like a bass-tenor

He really was. JD was good but sometimes it sounded more like he was growling than singing, when he was working on those low, low notes. London's bass notes had clarity.
