In Canada each and every newcomer need to rent or buy one accommodation and the people before them are not giving up the residences. I own two houses in Canada and I don't feel like giving up any one of them (one is a cottage) About current situation, things will improve in two to three years as long as they don't open the border like before. You have to understand that 1,000 people retire in Canada every day. That is approximately 365,000 to 400,000. So whatever surplus now will be wiped out in no time. It is not that dire like many people are making it out.
