Daniel Greene I actually quite like this casting. I just finished The Eye of the World and I was getting some serious samurai warrior vibes from some of the people in Fal Dara. So this makes sense to me.

At 6ft2 he will be at range with the others as hight goes. Buff dude and just turned 40, which is in par with Lans age. Seen him in Hawaii 5-0 and he can stare down at people, has a good "fu*k off"-glare. Good choice.
He definitely looks like a Lan!! and if he is big overseas that will be good for getting a more international market initially interested in the series. I must say I pictured him older and was interested in how the series would tackle the age difference in the romance element with Nynaeve. I wonder if they are just going to age him down for the show or if they will say something along the lines of "warders age differently once bonded to an aes sedai"
Really can't wait to see them in costume, or more importantly, makeup. I think it's so hard to tell how people will look while they are all dapper in promo shots and different roles.
Daniel Henney is the reason my Korean wife has agreed to watch the WOT with me when it releases. I guess I should be happy about that? Not sure if I should feel jealous...
The cast is coming together. But by how it looks it is a fine choice as far as I am concerned. I guess we have most of the main cast for season one then. There is Loial I suppose but I assume he will be a CGI character. We need a good voice for him though. I would say maybe not James Earl Jones specifically but something within that range, a deep booming voice. We also need people that only have part roles in season 1 but come back with a vengeance later, Elayne, Galad, Gawyn (shudder), Tam. Phew, I am glad I am not lead casting director. As it is, committing to WoT is a big choice even IF they manage to do two books a season. Though I guess at least one or two books happens in a fairly short span of time so it can be more easily be compressed? I think I am glad I am not in charge of script conversions too. Actually I am glad that I am not working on it in any capacity, I just want to enjoy the result! :-P
I LOVE this choice. He looks like he can pull off the brooding silent type, but can also do quips that will be needed against Nyanieve, Moiraine and Rand. I just can't wait to see him pull off the sword forms with Rand. Stoked about the castings. 100% Love what I see, so far.
When I read the books back in the day I envisioned her close to Elisabeth Hurley - beautiful with a mean streak. She does have an agelessness to her, but she's well over 50 now so it might be weird having her seducing a teenage Rand.
I hope they play up with makeup the planes and angles of his face, but I do think it has the right structure to do that and achieve that iconic description of Lan
He's almost exactly what I thought Lan would look like. If Amazon doesn't at least ask you to be a visible extra or for a pseudo-cameo I'm gonna be a little upset.
I like this. He looks younger than how I pictured Lan. Some ideas for remaining cast: Geofram Bornhald: Donald Sutherland Pedron Niall: Charles Dance Padan Fain: You can take this in so many directions. Robert Carlyle could play it close to the books, but I would like to see Zachary Quinto channel(ha) Sylar from Heroes in this role. I think he could draw an audience and beef up the role. Thom Merrilin: Viggo Mortensen has the look for it and would be a nod to Jordan's Tolkein inspiration. But can he juggle?
Lan was in his mid-fourties during the main series so yia, might want to give the actor a few gray hairs and a few facial scars to toughen up his pretty boy look.
I think he is a good pick, sharp features, I can see him pulling off a stern poker face, but damn I hope they make all the borderlanders asian. Immersion is important in these epic narratives, and things have to feel as believable as possible. Game of Thrones became so huge because despite the magic and fantasy elements it felt realistic and believable. They already are asking for alot of suspension of disbelief by making the 2 rivers a ethnic checkerboard, which makes positively no sense. I hope they dont do that in every location.
