Salt cured hog fat or bacon rind works good for catfish bait. I’ve tried using those cured shad a few times and never caught a single fish on one. Your better off a whole frozen talapia and cutting it up but nothing beats fresh cut shad or sun fish

It's lovely you have great memories of sharing time with your Dad. My dad only ever took me fishing once when my two friends left at 5am without me when I was 11. My dad said I thought you were going fishing and sadly l explained. He said grab your stuff and took me down the canal so l could fish. It's the only time it happened and it left me wondering if my dad had been abducted bu aliens and replaced with an alien clone.😉😂😂😂😂 It was the 1st and only time though. But he kept a roof over our heads and l can't remember going hungry though, even though we were piss poor.😊🙏🏻

Those preserved baits have never caught a single thing for me. However I think they add actual preservatives. I think if we (you and I), just threw a cast net and salted our own and froze them, we would be money ahead. I actually bought a battery powered vac sealer, so I can vac seal the shad right when caught. Obviously Skipjack would be best. Do you watch "Catfish Dave"? He lives in Kodak, TN. He's got some good videos.

I enjoy your show . You work them kids hard but give them very little praise, at least on camera and you definitely show favortism to the youngest. As a 61 deep south Louisiana man I feel for your older sons. I grew up on the farm and had to do all the work while my younger brother got away with murder. If he was even given chores and didn't do them I not only got punished and beat. yes beat but then was made to go do the chores that he didn't do. I will always love my dad even though he raised me hard. I just wish you would show the other boys the attention you show the baby. They work their ass off for you.

You are interpreting what you see through your experience and I don’t blame you for that. What you don’t know is that in this video Caleb was the only one that wanted to go with me. The rest wanted to stay in camp and play with their friends. I’m happy to let them do that.
      I don’t beat my kids
My older boys would be embarrassed if I vocally praised them like they were a little kid
Showing their accomplishments on here IS the praise they deserve and want. So please realize that they are never forced to do anything. We all work together as a team. We aren’t you.
