I only teared up from this. I didn't actually cry, because the made in abyss already made me cry ugly, and that anime hardened me about the tragic scenes like this.

This also serves as to link the mothers emotionally to the kids they tend to, as any one of them could be their kid. 2) This is also the downfall of the system, because after generations of essentially selective breeding of only the brightest kids, one of them turned out smart enough to outwit them all and plan a successfull escape.
Slowly, the story goes towards survival and question life, choices, rationality, logic and then finally the most important part ---> religion. Does religion make everything right or wrong? Is religion just there to cover up for our guilt of killing? Is religion a tool for ruling and controlling?
Everytime Isabella sang that lullaby It wasn't because she was happy or careless. It was because she was sad, and she needed to calm down. She sang It everytime she delivered a child, and when she was pregnant and about to give up her baby to be eaten (as cattle). It was a self comfort. She could also always remember Leslie, her first (and probably only) love, through his talent. This thought makes holding back tears harder.
It’s hilarious how many people are shocked that she actually had a kid in the past but like...she literally told us already. With Emma she said to become a mom, you had to be the best, get a recommendation, beat everyone else and then have a child and then you could become a mom. Everyone just collectively missed that requirement I guess.

I remember seriously thinking that Ray might actually be her child in the previous couple episodes. But I brushed it aside thinking "Ray would of remembered". I didn't even consider that Ray did know but we, the audience, just weren't informed. The writing is so good that even people who at one point guess the truth (like me) are still shocked when the plot twist is revealed. Bravo

This is quite similar to farm animals like pigs, cows etc. Several animal mothers only survive (but not for long) to give birth and their newly borns get mixed up with others' newly born, so they have no idea if they are truly together with their real offspring.

There's a few reasons why they never noticed. For one, they're *all* under the assumption that they're orphans; Ray played into that and went along with the idea he was an orphan. After all, why would he be there in an orphanage if he had a parent alive/in his life? Second, no one's heard that song before, so even if they did hear him humming that song, they probably just assumed it was a song he made or something like that. Source? The little kids with Mama at the end, when she tells her "Mama, that's a really pretty song!" or in the first episode, when Conny is being shipped out. Mama is humming that song, and Conny questions "Mama, what song is that?" without getting an answer, only the continuation of the song before her death. We were able to potentially piece it together, because we were given the pieces to the puzzle throughout the show, and finally shown the answer in EP12. The others never got those hints, we as the audience knew more than the characters.
I honestly wasn’t THAT surprised that Ray was her biological child.( even though I was still shocked ) Because if you think about it, it makes sense. He’s been her spy for a while now, he’s always humming her song ( for example, when he was gonna start the fire ) and they just look VERY similar!

He did see a demon in the first episode so this time, his reaction was supposed to be nervous or a little bit scare. However, his reaction was being surprised, like something else. I guess it is "the boss" that those demons have been talking about. And he is not gotta die. It is just my theory

I havent read the manga but dayum.Earlier episodes Ray said he is one of the very rare persons that have a syndrome which makes him remember everything ever since before being born even in its mothers womb.That explains why Ray knew the song Isabella was singing since she sang it while being pregnant. I am glad that i eventually decided to give this anime a try after hearing alot of praise for it but the character drawings always made me stay away.It was so worth it and seeing there is a season 2 coming gets me the more hyped.

I honestly wasn’t THAT surprised that Ray was her biological child.( even though I was still shocked ) Because if you think about it, it makes sense. He’s been her spy for a while now, he’s always humming her song ( for example, when he was gonna start the fire ) and they just look VERY similar!

@@lovestay871 Hmm well I agree the shape of the eyes does look a little similar and both have dark hair. But some of the other kids have dark hair too so doesn't really apply.

Having her real son working with her (kinda) until it’s rays time! It’s kinda sad though! But it does make more sense for the fire thing! He wanted to get his type of revenge I guess

Norman just shows up at last in Ray and Emma imagination, but I'm pretty sure he is not dead. My theory bases on how Norman act when he is out of the gate when the Mom told him to wait in a room. He did see a demon in the first episode so this time, his reaction was supposed to be nervous or a little bit scare. However, his reaction was being surprised, like something else. I guess it is "the boss" that those demons have been talking about. And he is not gotta die. It is just my theory

I havent read the manga but dayum.Earlier episodes Ray said he is one of the very rare persons that have a syndrome which makes him remember everything ever since before being born even in its mothers womb.That explains why Ray knew the song Isabella was singing since she sang it while being pregnant.
I am glad that i eventually decided to give this anime a try after hearing alot of praise for it but the character drawings always made me stay away.It was so worth it and seeing there is a season 2 coming gets me the more hyped.
The guy with the glasses and white earphone got me laughin' my ass off when he's reacting to the last part 😂
