      @Ramses Stafford Apparently torn Achilles means trade to NBA teams. Like Golden State did to Durant. The MVP of the ring last year. Talk about dumb as hell. He's gonna make sure he make them eat that shit up this year. Cause I know he mad thinking about how they let him go so easy after basically carrying their team to a championship. And I'm a Bulls fan. I just hate fuckery.

    When that stupid list came out and he wasn't on it, I literally stopped watching and caring about the NBA. I just lately started watching again and it's just so boring now. But back to the subject. I also think the Hawks and Spurs did him wrong too. He was WAY too exciting to be playing on the Spurs so they drafted Duncan and Robinson came back from his injury. I was so looking forward to that trio, but then I found out they didn't resign Nique. Later that year though they won a championship and all I could think about was how they robbed Nique of winning a ring.

  • @bulwyf2572
    @bulwyf2572 4 роки тому +2

    Lifelong Hawks fan. When they announced that team I kept waiting for Nique's name. They did it by position if I recall correctly. When there was no Nique on that list I had rage tears over it. The utter disrespect for him was unreal. As Nique said in this video when he retired he was like 7th ALL TIME in points scored. He was a small forward that could get you 6-8 rebounds as well. He played in the toughest conference era in ANY sport in the eastern conference in the 1980's. He consistently dragged a Hawks team to fifty plus wins that didn't have much on it when compared to Boston, Detroit, Bucks and Bulls in that era. He is the greatest dunker in NBA history.
    I don't know why Nique was disrespected then. I have met Nique on a few occasions over the last twenty plus years and he's a true class act. Those who actually watched him play know exactly how great he was.

    'Nique scored almost 27k points during his career and ended up with averages of 24,8 ppg and 6,7 rpg! Those are Hall Of Fame numbers and also numbers that should have achieved him a spot on the list of 50 greatest players back in '96 over names like Dave Bing or Dolph Schayes! And that's not an opinnion but a fact!
    Many younger fan thinks 'Nique was just a dunker but his midrange was also lethal. Also one does not drop 50+ on Larry Bird with just dunks! 'Nique is my all time favourite sf along with Grant Hill!

    I was a Dominique fanatic!! I was very pissed off when they didn't have Nique in the top 50. Total disrespect. There are at least 10 players for sure he should have made it before. Next to Jordan Nique was the man that people wanted to see as highlights were concerned. Led the league in scoring & was #2 behind Jordan a few times. 2 time slam dunk champ, which easily could have been 4, 3 for damn sure. Came back from a normally career ending injury. Possibly the GREATEST comback after an injury in sports history. Then they had the nerve years later to add 10 more players making it top 60, naming Dominique as #51. SMDH He was GREAT on & off the court. A TRUE SUPERSTAR. He's not only top 50 player, but a top 50 person as well.

    • @bizil100
      @bizil100 5 років тому

      Well said brotha!!! Nique was my favorite player growing up. He was one of those rock star type players the league built it's marketing around. I"m talking MJ, Magic, Bird, Nique, Barkley, and Isiah in that era. While Dr. J and Kareem were the living legends! Those are the guys the league pushed the hardest back then. And as you stated, Nique SOMEHOW made it back to a superstar level after the Achilles. And he did it in his early 30's!
      Numbers wise, Nique was putting up the same numbers he was BEFORE the injury! Casual fans who don't watch basketball often are VERY SURPRISED when I bring up how Nique was disrespcted. BECAUSE Nique was one of the HANDFUL of players they would sitdown and watch! They assumed Nique would be on the 50 greatest list. And were APPALLED when Nique wasn't a 1st ballot HOFer! It's a shame Nique had to wait to get in the HOF!
      If u are one of MJ's AND Bird's more famous and fiercest rivals, THAT MEANS u are on GOD STATUS in hoops! U gotta be among the best of the best if MJ and Bird saw u as direct competition!! Those guys just had better teams around them to win rings. BUT those guys knew Nique could dominate a game scoring on their level!

    Dominque Wilkins being left off of the 50 Greatest Players was a worse snub than whatever the worst hall of fame snub may be. That Bill Two Seasons Walton made that list and Dominique didn't is a disgrace. (How is Walton even in the Hal of Fame l with just those two seasons?) What isn't mentioned in this video that might be the most tragic Dominque Wilkins fate is that he actually had a chance to win a championship and that opportunity got snatched from him. In 1994, the Hawks had the best record in the east at the trade deadline when they traded Dominique to the Clippers for Danny Manning. Had the Hawks kept Dominque they would have been the 1994 Eastern Conference Champions and I'd have given them a 50-50 shot of beating the Rockets in the 1994 Finals.

    I don’t think he was disrespected. He never really adapted his game. I just saw Chris Webber and isiah Thomas say Wilkins should be on top 50 and replace Pippen lol. If Wilkins could replace anyone from the 80’s-90’s it would be Drexler.

    When Dominique got left off the 50 greatest players list (wrongfully so) it seems like we kind of overcompensated and made him out like he was the best small forward of all time. Was he the best Atlanta Hawk ever? Easily. Was he the best game dunker of all time you could make that argument. But for a guy who led the league in scoring one time because Michael Jordan was hurt and never made it past the semi Conference Finals we do need to pull the reins back a little bit. I don't think he was ever really a top three or four MVP candidate. I could be wrong on that I've never looked. The guy that really got screwed between the two that we always talk about that's left off in the NBA at 50 list was Bob McAdoo. He actually won League MVP and led the league in scoring three times if I'm not mistaken. He also coattail the couple of rings with the Lakers as a key player.

      Nique finished 2nd in MVP voting in '86 behind Bird. He was first team All NBA. And I hope you realize that Nique scored MORE POINTS than any SF in NBA history UNTIL Lebron passed him by a couple of years ago! Kareem leads centers, Kobe SG's, Mailman PF's, and Big O PG's! Nique held the mark for SF's for a long time IF IT TOOK Bron (a player who debuted in 2003) to pass his mark!!

    Two things hurt his legacy: One, he was overshadowed by Jordan. IMO, Dominique is roughly equal to Durant. Two, he played on small market, mediocre teams. Had he played for the Knicks or Lakers and had the same stats, he'd be considered an all time great.

    As for the point that he didn't have a Supporting Cast that shows a couple of things. A. He didn't make his teammates better. B. Maybe nobody really wanted to go to Atlanta and play with him because he was a shoot only one dimensional player.

    • @bizil100
      @bizil100 5 років тому +1

      Didn't make his teammates better??? Do u REALIZE how much he elevated those Hawks teams. They pushed A MUCH MORE TALENTED Bird's Celtic team to 7 games! When u compare Nique's supporting cast to Bird's supporting cast, Nique FOR SURE made the Hawks better! Nique was who he was. A dominant scoring machine. AND a very good to great rebounding SF!
      And free agency was MUCH DIFFERENT back in Nique's era. Plus MOST of the players on his level or better were ALREADY on teams built to compete! So the fact Nique led the Hawks to multiple 50 win seasons and a Central Division title goes to show HOW MUCH Nique did for that franchise. Look at the Hawks roster, HOW in the hell could they win a ring with those roster??
      And Nique HAD THE HAWKS first in the East midway through the season in 93-94. BUT they traded him to the Clippers! The Hawks FELL OFF THE MAP in the playoffs with Danny Manning in place! Nique made the Hawks MUCH MORE DANGEROUS than Manning ever could! BECAUSE Manning couldn't dominate a game like Nique could!
