- Africa in CK3 is an absolute thunderdome. Today, we're going to attempt to navigate this battle royale in order to form an Empire that will take over the Europeans. We do eventually take the fight to them, even taking over Rome and converting it. Let's see what the rest of the story has to hold in this region - I also end up reforming the religion and probably should have introduced a new culture too!

The royal court you had actually is very West African believe it or not.
That part of West Africa is where my family is from. Beautiful country. Also, the words are largely pronounced how they're spelled; most people from that region speak English or French, so the spelling of these tribal words have been latinized.

Laith, if you need to kill your male heir to sort out sucession, one good way to do it is to force them to be knights in your army, this way they will get involved in battles and are more likely to die of natural causes, when I played in Ireland and found out it wasn't really a good idea to have 4 wifes making lots of kids, it was a good way to really trim them out, specially if they aren't that good with combat x), plus, even if they don't die, well, you got a lot more land to give around and satisfy anyone thanks to their contribution :)
I've been watching your channel since Victoria 3 released, and since then I've watched some of your older CK2 stuff. I'd really enjoy watching more of that, especially with how much more complete of a game it is in comparison with CK3. I do enjoy watching CK3 and Vicky 3 quite a bit, though, and would love to see more of those. I'd for sure be interested in Elder Kings if you felt like doing non-Earth stuff for a break.
Personally, I don't really enjoy any of the EU4 stuff, but that has more to do with the interface looking like garbage than anything else.
I just played a game as mushasha with Europa expanded and I found myself in a situation that I think you might like... a disaster that always tiks up and gives you 10 discipline, 20 ccr and other good modifiers but also tiks down if you win battles, wars, convert or coquer provinces

Afrikaans was a dialect formed by the white tribe of south africa. They were the dutch colonists. they were exiled when the british annexed the colony.

Dunno if you'll ever see this but laith if you use the button to give a holding to a local noble it circumvents the stress gain from traits like ambitious or greedy
Forming ajuran is really fun, because it is the easiest empire rank formable.

I did something similar by basically becoming the berber ottomans and conquering most of Spain,all of Italy and destroying the Papacy
When trying to grant a territory Holy Order from the territory, it'll say you can't because it's leased out. But if you go to the individual you want to give it to and grant them titles you can pick the territory.
The Unite Africa decision should really give more benefits. It should give your empire title De Jure over all of Africa, Some custom modifiers, a bunch of prestige and splendor, etc.
All the unite giant swathes of land decisions should be better.
They should also give better culture, ideas, and tech due to better perspective 👀 and economies of scale.

It's barren of content there's nothing interesting there and people don't make their own lore because most players only know European history and a small fraction of them middle Eastern. But even so India and the Steppe still have a fair amount of content to encourage playing there

You probably already know this, but just in case you can use single female courtiers to marry in more knights, or councilors. And for single male courtiers I usually try to just marry in a bunch of high intelligence people for Court Tutor/Physician positions instead of wasting prestige on inviting in these positions or much needed money. (Depending on what you're having to spend for troops/buildings)

Lol you think immigration to Europe is for any reason other than immigrants will do the jobs nobody else wants to? There are strict immigration control abd the vast majority of immigration is legal to get people working the worse jobs and the most educated to advance their own technology. When you look at pre pandemic Italy that had a job shortage in all manual labour fields abd simultaneously recorded record high unemployment it seems like maybe economically Europe needs more immigration or at least Europeans need to have more children and actually fill the jobs they claim people are "stealing"

He said he would like to understand native languages to more mixed languages like Afrikaans. Also Afrikaans might have developed out of Dutch, but it is considered an African language as it is indigenous to southern Africa with the majority of Afrikaans speakers being non-European.
@@dehanj6552 Considered by whom? In my opinion it's generous to call Afrikaans a separate language from Dutch. Not because there is no claim to it but because things like AAVE and Scots are both considered English. In any case it's certainly an Indo-European language regardless

The languages aren't mutually intelligible. Afrikaans speakers can understand written Dutch to a degree, but spoken Dutch is a different story. Saying that Dutch and Afrikaans are the same language is like saying that Spanish and Portuguese are the same.
Afrikaans is an Indo-European language as you said, but it is only recognised in southern Africa where it developed into a distinct language.
@@dehanj6552 I do happen to think a case can be made that Spanish and Portuguese are the same language and I don't think the chasm between Afrikaans and Dutch is that wild given so many Dutch dialects have also lost gender distinction and reduced verb morphology. You can claim they're separate because of different written standards but again that's weird because most languages aren't written. I'm not saying they aren't different languages but saying it's clear and obvious I don't really buy. But I also can't say there's no case for them being separate Swedish danish and Norwegian are essentially dialects of the same language to me but widely accepted as different languages. But Caribbean English is largely not mutually intelligible with the English of the far north in Scotland that is itself not mutually intelligible with the English of rural new Zealand but I don't think anybody argues these aren't all English

This is not a widely help opinion in Jamaica. And this is a thing that is significantly more different than Afrikaans Vs Dutch both lexically and grammatically. Phonologically can be argued since most sound changes exist in one English dialect or another but English is so big that was bound to happen

One of my most favorite playthroughs in any game ever was forming the roman republic as amalfi in ck2

Court positions are super helpful. Like seneschal is like having your martial raising control but in every county. Huge buff. Court architect is also huge.
Also better vassel managment would help raise their overall opinion.
They really need to add QoL features from ck2, I need my auto-assign minor court positions setting

Play the shattered realm in CK2 would be really fun to watch
I know when you said "viking raids" you probably meant the Sons of Ragnar or someone in Scandanvia, but what about creating a custom character based off of the Birka warrior instead? DNA testing was recently done proving she was a woman, and other artifacts suggest that spent time in conquest of or raiding in the East. It could be fun to conquer south along the Baltic, and eventually take on the Byzantines?

Tried to make a similar run Kanem Bornu in CK2, and it was very fun, but I had to give up because of the absurdly stupid flooding even which keeps destroying your stuff even if you have a developed capital -_-

The religion and culture down there can be pretty naff for most of the game, but if you can secure the goldmines in Mali you have infinite money. It's a fun region, IMO, but not always the most enjoyable one.

More than anything I just think Africa is just lacking content. Unite Africa is like the only goal you can set yourself if you're not familiar with the history of the area for inspiration and it's so hard most people won't even try it
