Why are people surprised by SC It’s a great state to retire in. Cost of living is lower, there are beautiful beach towns, historical towns, mountains, lakes, etc. Tons of people retire there.
I won’t be moving to another state when I retire because of how expensive houses are these days.
Seriously!? Houses are so cheap in many of these states in the US. In Florida and SC, a house that’s worth 300K would be worth 1-2M in Toronto or NY. My brother moved to Fort Myers just because of the low cost of living

@@alejandrov.l431 Mississippi, Arkansas, and Alabama have to be the worst states to live in. Those states are nowhere near the top 25 states in any category (good category anyways). I'm honestly surprised Texas wasnt on the list.

I was born and raised in Montana. I moved to Arizona for 33 years and then retired back to Montana. You all come over and stay awhile. We can always use some good new folks.

@@ICU1337there’s one advantage of Florida which is no state income tax but even then you have taxes for the property and even that’s not so friendly. If I was given the choice for retiring today in the US I’d personally pick Wyoming. It’s affordable not a lot of people live there low cost of living and also no state income tax to pay.

My friend lives there and tells me that the winters are long and the summers are short. I would hate to live there as I don’t like winter.
I‘ll take the cold over the high temps anytime. You can always put on an extra layer, but you cannot always remove a layer.

Honestly before I vacationed there I would have said Hawaii to but its expensive out there it's a good spot to stay for a little while but not to live in unless you have some serious money.

MV is a nice place to vacation, but not to live. It is an island, the ferries are very hard to book, and the housing on the island is very expensive. It's a hangout for rich liberals. There's nothing to do in winter. As for the state of MA - no. The taxes will kill you if you die there. 🤣

i'd retire early in the state of Canada. healthcare is free there. in the US, my entire live savings would be wiped with a single hospital visit.

Wow Arizona and Texas not making the list was pretty shocking to me. Alot of folks are relocating out of California too whether they're retired or not so I'm suprised that state made the list.
Arizona not on the list kinda shocks me also because according to an article I read it’s one of the best Texas I’m not surprised it didn’t make the list. Everything might be bigger in Texas but lots of people are pulling out of Texas and relocating elsewhere and it’s expensive also. The taxes are high there since it’s I believe the third biggest state. The cost of living is very high there and it’s not affordable.
I'm definitely staying in California if at all possible. A lot of people are relocating because the state is so expensive, but it's still a gorgeous state to live in. Arizona's hot as hell, and Texas used to be fine when I lived there, but I wouldn't go back now.
