It's looking sick, idk about anyone else but I love watching rust repairs it's great to see how other people do body work and gives me better ideas to use when I'm doing my own repairs, keep up the sick videos man can't wait to see more
my advice is make sure you spray steal it on the backside of any new panel you weld to the car Nissan has an issue with rusting from the inside out no matter what climate it’s in they didn’t coat the inside of the panels. Good enough from the factory.
Hate to keep bringing it up, but 5 years ago you were booger welding a janky manifold to turbo your hilux in your front driveway. To watch you fab and weld in a whole half a sill in your JDM R32 Skyline.. Props Mike, putting yourself out of your comfort zone and killing it!
Mike one major thing, just relying on fish oil isnt the best method, what you can use is 'Deoxit' otherwise known as Deoxidine, its phosphuric acid and you can get this from supercheap, repco, bursons etc, you brush it on let it eat the rust oxide in the paws of the metal and wash this over with a cloth and water, then give the area a wire brush down and then treat it with fish oil, the acid gets into the paws of the metal and kills the rust you dont see, this way if you choose to paint over it you can rest assured the rust wont come back, the fish oil in those lower quarter sections is a good idea to keep the water away, but treat the metal with deoxidine first, also that rear section you've made this is where plenishing hammers and dollys come in handy to hand form those pieces whether its a convex or concurve shape, just a few tips btw the weirdest thing we found on our lancer was a neko cat charm under the drivers seat lol
I wish I had this level of motivation. Don’t know how you just jump in and attack projects so quickly, so much respect for you! R32 is lookin mint, killer work.
You sir, are an absolute inspiration and legend for just giving it a crack and stepping way outside your comfort zone. Keep moving forward. Keep doing what you do.
Thanks for showing us how you repair rust, it gave me enough motivation to tackle the rust on my r32 skyline. keep up the good work and make more skyline vids.
Rust is a large part of what I deal with. Just posted about rust repair on doors of 69 Hurst Olds. For coating the inner panels you can use spray cans (made for rust prevention) with nozzle/ hose with 360 spray tip. I use Eastwood's. Good luck and keep the vids coming ✌️
Hey Mike, this is not my industry, however, I am fixing some rust at the moment myself. A mate gave me a bottle of feronite, they use it on shipping containers. best stuff I have used for rust prevention and acts as rust stopper, rust converter and the primer. strong stuff! I am enjoying your videos keep it up mate!
Dude! Didn't think that panel was going to turn out very good in the beginning but you smashed it out and it looks bloody awesome man, showing what a bit of effort and hard work can achieve. Look forward to the next videos
Keen to see her cleaned up man its so hard to find a good base to build anymore, got super lucky with my 33 i think the early 2002 import saved her from lots of years on the snowy roads of Japan
Nailed it man. There are a number of ways to get that shape done, you just chose the one that made sense for you at the time, and the results are fantastic. Good on ya.
If you weren't already aware, you have R33 rear brakes on the car. Internal drum handbrake which are AMAZING for drifting!! The internal handbrake mechanisms are the same as S13 handbrake mechs if you ever need to replace them, and every arm on the rear subframe is the same as an S13 except the rear toe arms because you have HICAS rear steering on your subframe. The HICAS can be removed and replaced with an eliminator kit if you choose to do so
Loving this build so far Mike, props for having a go at making your own body pieces bro! that would scare the shit out of me trying to do! keen for more!
Been there done that mate, my E34 BMW had rust as well, I took it to a body shop and they charged me quite a bit. After about 4 weeks the rust came back out, took it back and the guy was like nah they just cleared the rust and bondo over it. I was super upset and ended up doing mostly what you did, after the repair I did in my small home shop the rust never came back in that spot. I wish we got these cars here in my country I would love to own a skyline with an RB motor.
Dose that kink do anthing to the road worthy in vic im planning on putting bolts through my 4wd chassis for rock sliders hope it wont make it look bad to the pigs in mud
I don't know what it was I use to hate you with a passion and kept thinking one day I'll kick your head in. I watched a video on your lancer after it got stolen and now I can't wait for your uploads keep up the good work cars like this will make the cars you build in 5 years top shelf from the work your doing now I can't wait to see what your doing in 5 years
Haha bro this is such a good comment 🤣. For real I really appreciate the feedback aye. Good to know I’ve improved over the years! Thank you for watching ❤️
unfortunately your on the receiving end of 'skim it with bog an it will be fine for now' im in the trade an know how much the filler holds moisture. dont be scared to go all out an do wt y need to but if time is an issue it would perfect knowing thwt it wasnt a clean track car u just walled ?? its worth the time for the rego sake
Can't wait for a collab with Rex H and your Skyline's

You’re a fantastic fabricator, so I’ll take that as a massive compliment! Haha ❤️

Haha cheers bro, bit hectic aye 😅. Definitely dove in the deep end with this one!
Hey Mike great video love your channel so excited to see what you do with the r32
Wonderful video buddy. Support from singapore 💪🏼💪🏼
unless you are using a weld proof primer you need to recoat the back side of the welds to prevent future rust
nice work mate love it that you throw yourself in the deep end and give a crack keep it up🤙
Thank you bro. Nothing like learning new skills hey! This thing will be 💯 when finished 😁
Friday afternoon 🔥🔥

doing a great job restoring a legand
Thank you bro!
Yea Mike love the car
What thickness of sheet metal do u use for repairs
Well done 👌🏼
monochrome beast! 😂 👌 👌
Wheres rex? 😂
Should paint it black bro, make a twin with Rexy but a 4 door!, cool little collab between you two 😂
bro you need to start trusting yourself more your one hell of a fab guy
You should tap the entire car with that magnet thing panel beaters use to find bog around the car
I have seen alot lot more "bog" in cars.. that was pretty Tame tbh 🤣🤣😂
Always use rust converter it will be your best friend
Can't wait to see it get a 5 speed but are you going keep the RB20? Or are you going to go 25 ,25 neo or 26?
Mike’s custom bodywork’s 😂
Love this
There is bloke down here in tas selling complete 26dett turbos everything attached ?
Film the rust repairs dude. So interesting watching your brain work

Watch prizza Mike and his Integra build video because it’s really cool how he fixed his from all the rust!

Joys of a 25+yo car

them holes look like what they used to hold on the body filler lol

Hahahaha rust baddd
think flares are mandatory in japan u put them 100m behind ur broken down car on the road so people know to stop
That’s so fricken cool. Japan does everything better haha
