They need a new director, IMO. The one they have was a one-hit-wonder with Gettysburg. G&G set the Civil War back decades. I was so disappointed that I lost interest in it for many years.
Thanks for a lot of great movies Ted Turner Gods and Generals, Gettysburg and Andersonville are great! I've bought The Hunley and will watch the Ironclads movie
Unfortunately Gods and Generals lost about $40 million and I don't believe Turner wants to make that same mistake again. Would be well that he did, or maybe someone else.
The Last Full Measure will never be made because Gods and Generals was a Cinematic failure and it failed to even make its production cost back. It was also very ill-Conceived, for instance trying to detail the entire first 2 and half years of the War and 4 major battles was ridiculous. The context before and after each battle is absent as is any real character drama which makes us care about the characters in play. They should have patterned it after Gettysburg. It could have focused on just one major Battle. Perhaps Antietam! The Whole movie focusing on that one Campaign. The opening sequence not being a parade of flags. But a Action set piece in the final moments of 2nd Manassas showing the Army of Northern Virginia taking the field and the Union at a real low point. Setting up some real context leading into the Maryland Campaign and all the events surrounding it. The Bloodiest Single day in American History. A Battle that truly decided the ultimate outcome of the War at that moment. Cumulating with Lincoln issuing the Emancipation in the Final Scene of the Film.
Please, make more civil war movies. I miss them. They are always great to see and you do the fallen veterans a great honor.
Ted actually had a role in Gods and Generals
make the "last full measure" do it for us, the reenactors

Totally agree with all of you!
You always give it one hundred percent. Appreciate your efforts

True son of the south
"Exactly as it was" According to the Lost Cause historical revisionists
Now we have the 150th anniversary of the War and all we get is Hollywood crap. There's nothing on the scale of the movies that Mr. Turner made.
Gods and Generals is probably the poorest of them all. It trys to cover too much history too fast for the uninformed person to follow.
