Somehow, i have both both of these. i paid for a dozen ghost shrimp, and half of them were amano shrimp. I was confused when I saw my "ghost shrimp" did not have an arched back so I did some research and i found out that all ghost shrimp have that arch in their backs they went into the same tank as my bamboo shrimp
Looks like the store had someone that could not tell the difference lol. They saw translucent shrimp and bagged it all for you. The good thing is that Amanos are much hardier.
It can. Depending on the sponge filter you have, position the outflow just at the surface of the water. It should create enough movement for the Bamboo Shrimp to enjoy.
2 inch is not enough to prevent Amano suicide 😢 Each time I've lost Amanos, it was after a tank revamp with drip acclamation. The lid is a must when the water params change drastically.
How long before you re-vamped your tank and added the shrimp to it? Drastic changes in water parameters will stress them out causing them to want to climb out sometimes. If you notice them swimming frantically around the tank, then something is usually off.
@shrimplycanadian I revamped this tank a few times now over maybe 8 years Ive started it, usually to change the substrate. During one of the revamp, I had the shrimp in a bucket in old tank water while I changed substrate, no lid on bucket. I'm pretty sure the water was lower than 2in from top, but I don't remember if I had a "ladder" to help the escape. Found it a meter away from the bucket. The second time during another revamp, finished tank revamp, drip acclimated maybe for 30min-1h + temp acclamated, returned the shrimps to tank. Next day found one in the hallway outside the tank room. The tank had "ladders": heater, filter, co2. I've never had amano die of old age, they all die from tank jump 😭

No pet is perfect except in the eyes of it's owner.
Very well put together video, I personally have Amano shrimps but watched Your whole video even tho I'm not looking to expend my aquarium, well done!
Thanks Sebastian. Having shrimp in an aquarium adds a whole other layer of liveliness.
Thank you for the information and video.

Thanks. I can't make any changes to this current one but I'll make note of this for future videos.
That’s where I got my plants and ramshorns
Does a sponge filter create enough flow for a bamboo shrimp?

I got an amano shrimp it didn't get eaten by my betta because this type of shrimp is bigger than cherry chrimp , why do shrimp like moss balls tho?
Biofilm and other edible matter collect on it and so it's easy for them to feed off it.
