    • @CoinRingsfromTheMint
      @CoinRingsfromTheMint  4 роки тому

      Pure silver isn't the best choice because it is so soft. Sterling silver is about the same as my coin silver scraps I use.

    • @starwarsenthusiast151
      @starwarsenthusiast151 4 роки тому

      @@CoinRingsfromTheMint that's makes sense I thought the copper in the coin made the ring a bit harder to make which was a bit dumb because I've seen you make other rings from morgan dollars, and because I thought it would be better to use bullion because it costs less to buy that than a coin.

      ok just revisiting this comment - just because it's a common coin doesn't give you an excuse to destroy a piece of history. They'll never be made again, and with that attitude, you're only culling the existing stockpile of these ancient coins and eventually there will only be a small handful left in the care of those who appreciate it for their history

    It is in Section 331 of Title 18, if you want to brush up on that law you have been breaking.

    • @robertyamen9446
      @robertyamen9446 4 роки тому

      Right from the US Treasury website...
      www.treasury.gov/resource-center/faqs/Coins/Pages/edu_faq_coins_portraits.aspx
      Section 331 of Title 18 of the United States code provides criminal penalties for anyone who “fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates impairs, diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined at the Mints of the United States.” This statute means that you may be violating the law if you change the appearance of the coin and fraudulently represent it to be other than the altered coin that it is. As a matter of policy, the U.S. Mint does not promote coloring, plating or altering U.S. coinage: however, there are no sanctions against such activity absent fraudulent intent.
