you can push extra silver into your shoulders in the sand before you cast. Push the sand using custom shape pieces of eraser as pushers. HTH
My heart sank when I thought you were going to use that old coin for the ring! Whew, excellent!😃
Loved to see that you made a mold for that coin. I thought you were going to use the original at first! It’s neat to see how metal working is done.
Dude, serious props for such a cool ring project. Nicely done!
Very, very interesting! Wonderful craftsmanship. Always a joy watching you work. Thanks for sharing!
Always stepping it up a notch awesome Ring!!!
This was such a neat one to watch! Sometimes the process doesn't look like it's going to look as great, then you get to the end and I'm like, hmmm, this is awesome!!
Another beautiful creation!
Simply beautiful
The worn aged look is befitting.
That was awesome!!
Awesome ring
Work of Art man. Good job. Enjoyed the video.
Great work
Music so close but avoiding copyright issues. Master level
Very cool video
I'm a beginner in a coin ring.
I'm going to buy a hand press.
Is a half-ton hand press enough?
I would go with a 1 ton
Better stay a beginner because doing this is illegal.
how much would it cost to make ring out of a toonie ,that my friend is two dollar coin from your great white north CANADA. THE center will pop out so no drilling. size 12
He knows what a toonie is: ua-cam.com/video/1LJDoXRjp28/v-deo.html
Great video Tyler, very awesome ring!
Can you do a video making a simple coin ring with household tools? I'd love to give it a try!
I did. Check out forged coin ring making for beginners :)
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint sorry! New subscriber here lol. Thank you!
I love this! What a cool idea!
That is unique. One of a kind. Beutiful
May I ask what you used to tarnish the ring? And does it work on steel?
Seems you hate sawing mate lol, beautiful ring you made, learned alot, thank you ♥️
Haha I was really just learning how :) I’ve got quite a bit more time behind me these days
Very cool, well done.
Excelente trabajo
Awsome job! Thanks for the upload :)
Cool ring and happy Halloween
Can you make another one for sale?
Wow cheers
How did you turn it in black? Wow! Tanks much!
I used liver of sulphur in hot water.
Hey, when you heat to anneal and then quench; aren't you re-hardening?
Non ferrous metals like silver and gold dont harden like steel does when quenched.
I like it....
I had a problem with melting the American coin down for the silver.
Dude you rock Skyler. That ring looks amazing and would go great with my reniassance gear. How much would you sell a masterpiece like that for?
That's a great question lol. I probably won't be selling these just because of the time that goes into it. If you wanted this one I would do $100 for you.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint im sold 😁👍
I know the channel is called change you can wear so this might be a dumb question. Why don't you buy silver rounds that are completely silver when you make rings like this?
Pure silver isn't the best choice because it is so soft. Sterling silver is about the same as my coin silver scraps I use.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint that's makes sense I thought the copper in the coin made the ring a bit harder to make which was a bit dumb because I've seen you make other rings from morgan dollars, and because I thought it would be better to use bullion because it costs less to buy that than a coin.
Nice project. Where can you find that cutter punch you used?
Potterusa.com
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint Thanks
Thanks for asking..I was gonna ask the same question 🤣.
Cool
Merci boucoup pour la vidéo bonne travail
Super!
Are you going to sell it, for how much?
Probably not this one. A bit too much work.
wait, 1800 year old coin?
yep
최고
Ну так себе работа ... 😏
Кощунство и издевательство над предметом имеющим историческую ценность...!!!!!!!
Anyone who makes rings with coins are shame but you are not included because you used the mold not the actual coin.
I would've been very disappointed if you actually used the roman coin in the right. That thing belongs in a museum, if not in someone's personal collection. Glad you used a mold of the coin!
The Denarius he used in the video is actually very common and only worth around $15. He probably bought the Morgan for more.
Those coins are stupidly common...
Man I was thinking the same thing... I'd love to have just the coin...1800 years old!?!
ok just revisiting this comment - just because it's a common coin doesn't give you an excuse to destroy a piece of history. They'll never be made again, and with that attitude, you're only culling the existing stockpile of these ancient coins and eventually there will only be a small handful left in the care of those who appreciate it for their history
@@DSCuber yea....becuz it's not worth much now...will it be in another 1800 years?
Cool
Perfect music for the process.
As a coin collector, it makes me happy that these are essentially junk coins, and not really high quality examples
Definitely different but I definitely like it. The whole process with this piece was intriguing.
Beautifully done! And I like your ring making skills also. Skyler, thanks for another great video!
Oh thank God you didn't ruin the ancient ring lol
I loved your musical choice here. And the ring is beautiful!
Why didnt you bend the top of the ring?
Skyler, Nice ring. I have been thinking about how to make a signet ring using the center of a state quarter. This technique with a few modifications should work.
That was so wonderfully relaxing to watch ♥
This guy must be targeting the rich I cannot afford those prices I’m better off going to a pawnshop or regular jewelry store If you want one of a kind engrave something special
Loved it. Now, if only we had silver dollars in Australia :)
Awesome! I would have been pooping my pants while doing that.
i dont suppose you have tip for restoring old coins? I dont want to scrub my old New Zealand Half Crown as im scared to scratch it :P any advice would be amazing ::D
When the video started i thought. Is this an Apocolyptica song?
Just for fun: why not dip the next ring in household bleach instead of the product you used to blacken it. Or maybe try garden sulphur mixed in water. Try it out and tell us what you think 😊.
Nice work by the way!
That is a good idea if I didn't already know I hate the bleach antique :) I'll definitely keep it in mind though.
Oh man I thought you were gonna use the actual coin I was fixing to flip but luckily you diddent
You can make a belt buckle with that dollar
Definitely unique. You're doing a great job. Keep it up!
Very nice 👍
2:57 me on saturday night
that turned out really good man! :D
very nice👍
You destroy a coin
Hoi my coin you put, back to me
What's the material you're using to heat up the coin on at the beginning? It doesn't look like fire brick. And is that a custom made bench? It looks beautiful!
Thank you! That is a fire panel that my dad’s company made for burn rooms for the fire department. I’ve since discovered that it’s a huge heat sink and I use an annealing pad now :)
Hey nice work
Nice ring!
For sale?
Very nice
Hi
You had a tool that termed out the inside of a coin ring
What is that tool called desperately need one
Thank you
I think you are talking about a deburring tool.
Which material, did you use for this particular ring project? Greetings from an aspirant
it was 90% silver.
It is in Section 331 of Title 18, if you want to brush up on that law you have been breaking.
Right from the US Treasury website...
www.treasury.gov/resource-center/faqs/Coins/Pages/edu_faq_coins_portraits.aspx
Section 331 of Title 18 of the United States code provides criminal penalties for anyone who “fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates impairs, diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined at the Mints of the United States.” This statute means that you may be violating the law if you change the appearance of the coin and fraudulently represent it to be other than the altered coin that it is. As a matter of policy, the U.S. Mint does not promote coloring, plating or altering U.S. coinage: however, there are no sanctions against such activity absent fraudulent intent.
Superb craftsmanship. What country are you in.
I'm in the US 🇺🇸
Do you sell your scraps on eBay?
No I use them.
Where did you get the device to cut out the ring shape? Thanks.
There is a link in the description box. It is potterusa.com
😉😉
👍❤️
Such a cool video! I love your channel! I lived in Monmouth Oregon and would have loved to take one of your workshop classes. Thanks for sharing and have a good Halloween 🎃 -Zeke
Enjoyed your video! I loved the choice of music you used through out. It fit the different style ring design. Thanks for taking the time.
You did not use the coin really now did you?
Why the clickbait?
I made a ring with it. That isn't clickbait :)
Actually better than using the original ancient coin. It looks the same with the replica. Not clickbait.
Do you ever go to store and realize you’re short on change so you give them your ring and tell them it’s a coin just shaped differently?
awesome love your videos. I think I'm ready to get some equipment and get started.
Fantastic as usual great work I'm from the UK love your videos.
Well done!
real cool
Great work it’s excellent job well done 👍👌
THOROUGHLY enjoyed that!!!!
You're a magician ...just love it
I was just wondering do you also collect coins to not make rings out of?
A little bit. I really like ancients :)
Awesome ring!!! Size 8 please 😃
Interesting, fun video.
Please make me one , please
How much for one of those in the silver, and what would a family signet ring in 22k gold cost,,,I will supply the gold
I probably won't be making any more of these for sale. There is a ton of work in one. I would sell the one I made in the video. It is silver. Contact me through my website www.changeyoucanwear.net
