Thanks Mr PJ found my biggest vibration come to find it was the cv bolts had two missing and I noticed that the past owners removed those small plates if I may ask what is the purpose of those plates around the cv bolts just would like to know for sanity sake lol one thing that i have seen a lot on videos and even on your golf Mr PJ is the OD still to this day inspires me how awesome a mk1 can be for being one of the most modified and such an vintage design and still doing 500K plus km wow that is impressive , even in my experience with both my mk1's way up there, my most beloved one reaching 698K and still kicking every morning. when the music plays and the streets are empty just cruising along its like everything just belongs you feel in a way connected if i can put it that way it's one of those feelings after fighting with oil and spares you go for that drive at 3 in the morning no destination in mind just wanted to test and you start enjoying the wind, music and the road so much that you end up finding yourself far from home and in such a better state of mind that is what makes all the frustration and anger worth it for me sorry for the horrible spelling mistakes my english is very delicious since i was twice.lol
My Goodness I can so identify with you when it comes to this square shaped car.... It grows on you, there's just something about it that only we mk1 owners will understand.... We look at this old car as if it's a porche... And we just cannot stop fiddling and fixing things , not that it's in dire need of maintenance or fixing, but Damn it, it's a lovely feeling...,. Just getting in, starting up and driving for a stretch...I have owned 3 of these mk1s, even the jetta fox.., by the way those plates on the inner Cv is important. They kinda hold everything together evenly to the gearbox flange, and ensures you don't lose a bolt shud they loosen up, because they paired up... Anyway,.. Happy Mk1 motoring,. These cars are going to be around for a long while still.. And look after them, because they will become very valuable... Even my 19 year old son loves the Mk1... I'm in my 50s,..... Had my first golf when I was 21 and that was a 1979 LS. 1100Cc...similar looking to the Rabbit.. Any way, let me stop.. Cheers!
Hi, what can cause the steering wheel to be loose only at high speed, inside roads the steering is normal.. iv changed the rack, rack bushes new brackets and new knuckle.
Oom my golf has been making rattling sounds by the left wheel, tried to have a look at it and thought it was the brake caliber but it was not. In your opinion what may be the problem that causes rattling sounds like that?
Howzit, I have a citi golf, and every time I drive it feels like the wheels are turning as if the steering rack is lose, like I would keep the steering wheel straight but it feels like turning left or right, I have coilovers on the car now, I did change shock mounts, also checked the shocks where they connect with the hubs, n they are tight, So I'm not sure what's goin on now
Thanks for the info always appreciated. Do you have any suggestions on steering play? My clutch pedal bracket tore away from the steering rack so I had to tack weld it in place. Since then I have a bit of steering play.
@@pjs-golfmk1-diy Yes, sorry. The clutch pedal tore away from the steering column at the bottom. Had to weld it inside the car. Since then there is some steering play when driving. (But no play when the car is stationary) I'll take it for wheel alignment maybe they can pick up something. Thanks for the videos always helpful 🙏
i know this is off topic but i see your car runs with no return system i woukld like to know how that works i have a carb model if its a good thing or not
I have a return there... I am using a T. Valve ... Have a closer look. I dont believe in running pump direct to carb.. Or have a look at my video "Fuel Starvation "... On the channel. I explain it in detail there...
I checked the video now i need some info about the restrictor you were talking about i have a t piece just needto know what kind of restrictor your using
Howzit Mr PJ, my Citi golf steering wheel shakes soon as I reach 100 mph and above. Cannot go over 120 or the shaking gets too much. What could be the issue?
Have u watched the video? .. That will give u an idea where to start..Sounds like it could your wheel balancing.. That's cheap to rectify... Take it for a suspension check at a fitment center.. I have a part 2 video too on this topic..
Good job my brother, keep it up

hi PJ. I'm looking for authentic spare parts for mk1 I need to buy from south Africa.. I'm in Zimbabwe kindly help
Oom my golf has been making rattling sounds by the left wheel, tried to have a look at it and thought it was the brake caliber but it was not. In your opinion what may be the problem that causes rattling sounds like that?
Check the shock, tie rod end and ball joint.. The name is Paul,.. Or PJ.. Please. Thanks..
Howzit,
I have a citi golf, and every time I drive it feels like the wheels are turning as if the steering rack is lose, like I would keep the steering wheel straight but it feels like turning left or right,
I have coilovers on the car now, I did change shock mounts, also checked the shocks where they connect with the hubs, n they are tight,
So I'm not sure what's goin on now
Check the ball joints... Or just take car to fitment center for a suspension check.. They will easily identify the problem

My golfs steering wheel shakes when moving extremely slow (traffic for example). Do you know what would cause that?
