This 2MT was built in Darlington and entered service at West Auckland Shed 51F in 1954. My Father was one of the first to Fire and Drive it. He told me it was a good steamer and rode will, but some drivers didn’t like it because of the steam actuated reverser.
No. 78059 is no longer in existence as it is now currently being converted to a BR Standard Class 2 2-6-2T class which is a new build under construction at the Bluebell Railway which is No. 84030
Yes it can, but however there are reasons for not doing it are, the coal dust from the tender coming into the cab, visibility for the driver, locomotive doesn’t take the curves as well as going forward.
@@alanhindmarch657 ... however it is still awesome, having enclosed cab on the tenders. I do hope other tender steam locomotives can have this feature to make them capable to go tenderfirst at great speed.👍🏼

Snowdrift at Bleath Gill… starring 78018 😮
Great footage!
Can this steam locomotive actually run tenderfirst as fast as he runs forwards, if it is, that it'll be brilliant 👍🏼💘

yeah. but It's a Bummer HIS story was, and likely will NEVER be, published, though. :\
Why does someone associate every single irl engine to some thomas character 😒
@@Northerner_Transport_Hub Why are you annoyed about that?
@@JTrailroadinboi12 it's embarrassing to some rail enthusiasts
