Farewell Trion - Fiddle Lesson With George Jackson

- Here's a really pretty and popular old tune in C called "Farewell Trion", I use this tune as a jumping off point to talk about some smooth bow fiddling (I normally play with more syncopation and bow rocking, but it's always good to be able to change your bowing if appropriate). So I talk a little about how to emulate the smooth way James Bryan plays this tune in the video along with breaking down the three sections of the melody. Excellently, thanks for your passion for music. I can learn. Film is good way knowledge learn, because you play slowly and comments. Good done. Congratulations
Thanks so much for sharing this, I've been working on it for a long while and your bowing breakdowns are wonderful!
Helpful video! So I’m a cello player that’s been transcribing old time fiddle music because I can’t find it for my instrument. Mostly doing it so that I can play with my girlfriend that is a banjo player. Anyway, your video helped me out and just wanted yuh to know!
Thanks Sam, glad it helped!
Really great. Thanks so much.
Best lesson ever, covers so much about the mysteries of old time bowing. I've been trying to learn this tune for 6 months, and you gave me what I needed to play it better (and you play Trion so beautifully), thanks!
Geroge -- I love the use of the C-string as a drone. Do fiddlers still play 4-string fiddles? Why? Thanks for sharing this tune. Regards, Holger, a 5-string fiddler from Germany.
Superb lesson.
Great tune and well demonstrated. By the way I highly recommend Everest Collapsible Shoulder Rest: Model EF-4. After giving up on 4 other shoulder rests I found this one. Works well on both my wooden and carbon fibre fiddles and will not fall off. (I am not paid to promote this shoulder rest.)
I use a bon musica shoulder rest these days, that’s my favorite. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@@GeorgeJacksonMusic Yes that was my previous goto 👍
I learned this great tune a while ago so this is a good review and discussion of the tune and bowing. Thanks. Is that a new 5 string for you?
Glad you enjoyed the vid - Yeah a fairly new fiddle for me, I got it about a year ago.
👍
