    Excellent explanation in four minutes!
    You should put an advertising in the video about de comment of Sea X-pedition: "Open M/E JCW discharge and inlet valve to evaporator" Just in case juniors doesn´t read the comments

    Sir
    Didn’t mention plate type evaporator n condenser ??

    This is the best explanation I've seen, can you explain how does the main engine fresh water system works?

    How can the ejector pump simultaneously provide feed water and create a vacuum ?

    • @marineinsight
      @marineinsight  4 роки тому

      It is a regular pump whose output goes to the ejector to create vacuum.

    Open M/E JCW discharge and inlet valve to condenser? Shouldn’t it be evaporator?

    What is the temperature of the coolant which leads to fresh water tank?

    What will happen if vaccum reaches 100%? Normally We keep 90-93% vaccum when we start FWG but why not 100%, I would love to have clear Explanation here...Thanks

      Because the heating used in fresh water generator comes from the jacket cooling water of the main engine which is usually around 75-85 degree celcius. Water usually boils at 100 degree at 1 atmospheric pressure. The eductor creates a vacuum in the evaporator which lowers the atmospheric pressure around -0.85 so that the evaporating point of water will also be lowered around 75-85 degrees. Since pressure directly proportional to temperature

    What is the difference between plate type and tube type fresh water generator,?

    • @marineinsight
      @marineinsight  5 років тому

      The heat exchanger in the FWG is either plate type or shell and tube type. Rest functioning of the system will remain the same.

    If the vacuum is too low, n the shell temp increases, so how it will affect the production rate?

    • @thebusinessman2936
      @thebusinessman2936 4 роки тому

      Imploding will occur and outer shell will buckle inwardly. Improper function stop fqg

    Don't know how it's make vacuum process. If I used this for salty tube well water, how to dispose brine not to return to the well?

      ep. nainghtooaung When the SW passes through the Ejector the velocity of the fluid increases and the pressure inside the FWG decreases (Venturi Effect).

      +João Gonçalves I only know this because of my damage control course where we used eductors to take our flood water. but i like your definition.

    Did you say.. taste the water? Isent that what the Salinometer is for?

    • @mrsourav63
      @mrsourav63 10 років тому

      we taste the water to check if the salinometer is working properly or not.. what if the salinometer is not working properly and your entire freshwater is contaminated with saltwater? as it it; we are going to use the fresh watr for drinking and cooking purposes, right??

    • @gordonbrown2204
      @gordonbrown2204 10 років тому +1

      sourav mitra Fair enough I suppose. Cheers

    • @Jonesdoka
      @Jonesdoka 9 років тому

      Gordon Brown Notice that the salinometer range is usually between 0 and 20 (Alfa Laval product at least), so we taste the water because if u have 100 or 180 ppm the water is not salty. The salinometer can show 20 ppm because its the maximum range and u are producing water with 100 ppm, in this case u are producing fresh water.

    • @clarkmeyer7211
      @clarkmeyer7211 8 років тому

      +Gordon Brown (Wanna be climber) salinometer is not always accurate. tasting the water in small amounts to check the salt content is usually the best way.

    • @gordonbrown2204
      @gordonbrown2204 8 років тому

      Yeh. I have learned a little more now and gained a little more experience. And understand much better why we taste it which I have actually done a few times now.
