  • This is a slightly alternate version/take of “About the Ocean”, a song written by Jimmy Webb’s sister Susan. This version is exclusive to the quadraphonic 8-track tape of Glen Campbell’s 1974 album “Reunion: The Songs of Jimmy Webb”. Only half of the quad mix is heard here, but what makes this version unique is, toward the end of the song, the lyric “you’d ever want to harm me” is edited in from an alternate take. Glen puts extra enunciation on the word “ever”, and there is less space between this verse and the subsequent verse, compared with the regular stereo version. How & why this alternate take snippet was edited in, the world may never know.

W0w. I haven't hear him for decades.Such an inelegant melody, and Glenn Campbell, with his distinctly mellifluous voice, transforms the tune into a thing of crystalline beauty
I wish i could thank him for the style and grace that he brought to us all.

I have the quad mix of this album... it’s fantastic to hear Glen in discrete 4.0 surround sound...
