- This video was shot back in the summer a few months ago. It's just a road test of the Caterham 420R, it's everything you would expect of a car that weighs 560kg with 210bhp - a RIOT!

Yes, the Lotus 7 was conceived before you were , when people who reported on cars had once upon a time got their hands oily. I remember first seeing the Lotus 7 on the road in 1968 but they had been around for some years already.

The 620R is mental. Genuinely mental. On track it was untouchable. On the road it would be obscenely rapid and I imagine the Sadev gearbox would be a pain in the arse. Incredible cars.

I would like your opinion on the 620S vs the 420r to have fun as a road car. I’v had the 620R at donnignton for a day. It was mental and spinned its rear wheels in 4th gear in the dry. However the sequential box is probably too much for the road. Would love to see you in a 620s on the road to see if you can actually have more fun with it vs a 420

The great thing with super lightness is you can have more side wall on the tyres giving a more supple ride

Only downside to Caterham’s design is the indicator stalk ( or lack of one) would be nice if they or some manufacture would design and build steering hubs with neat switchgear so you can have traditional indicator / hi & low light beam and wiper stalks,

620R..... it has to happen. Then you bring it here for my cameras mate ;)
that looks like a SV to me, so it is 565 kg making the power to weight 358bhp/t....not 420bhp/t...caterhams are named after
the engines bhp x 2......170 = 84bhp,
360 =180bhp, 420 = 210bhp, 620 = 310bhp...more research reqd i think.
caterhams are great though...i had a r300 tuned to 232bhp so it was 421bhp/t

As for the hoods , I drove mine back from Ipswich to Eastbourne in rain 3/4 of the way , stopped for fuel ,put up the Half hood , popers on the windscreen , 4 straps ,1 min , all was fine enough, its bloody amazing Car , 260CSR.
Oh I'm over 60 , no problem getting in or out , so what's UP with Him ? Who knows.

I wonder about Caterham's figures, 560kg, 210bhp is not 420bhp/tonne its 375/tonne. Why don't they just tell the truth and call it the 375R?
What Sideways scores Sid? If Doug can do the Doug score Sid can do the sideway score! What a tremendous driver, if Lewis was a UA-camr he would be Sid, if Sid was an F1 driver he will be Lewis Hamilton.
