This episode massively over exaggerates what being at the gym is like, there are so many different types of people, I go to the gym but I don't do massive hard workouts, I had a personal trainer but they were a normal person now they do personal training with me at home and we just do Boxing and stretches and weights, like you can personalise it, they shouldn't make you do stuff that you don't want to do, usually you can personalise or choose the kind of workout you do depending on what you want, like for example I'm disabled and I have a type of cerebral palsy that means that my right side is weaker than my left so I have things that are personalised to that and when I go to the gym I have specific machines and specific workouts that I do, some gym episodes of shows are like that where it's more normal like where they show different types of Workouts and things, but this like especially with Marshall the whole personal trainer thing where she's just like aggressive, I'm sure those kind of trainers do exist but that was like a massive over exaggeration. Also based on everything else we know about Ted, as well as the fact that he's not a massively reliable narrator, I think we can all assume that in 2030 gyms do exist, but maybe more people just do home workouts or maybe it's specific to yet like his kids don't go to the gym because he doesn't go to the gym. I'm sure there are still gyms, I can't imagine them going away any time soon, I think it's just supposed to be mint as a joke, because I don't think Ted goes to the gym so he probably never took them, but some people have a theory that it's Covid times again in 2030 or some other kind of virus where they can't leave their homes And why gyms are closed down. While it could just be school holidays, like I said, some people have speculated that the reason why Penny and Luke are still at home, is because during the time that Ted is telling them the story of how he met their mother, there's some sort of lockdown again or some sort of outbreak of something and they can't leave the house, which would make sense because although it's nine years worth of stories for us, I think it's maybe like two years for them or something I can't remember might be three years, but it could only be one year I don't know, I think that makes sense though as to why I like they're not going to school and he's able to tell them all of these stories they make jokes about wanting to go to the bathroom and stuff and obviously eating food, like when Luke asked if he could go to the bathroom and Ted said no, but I think that was kind of a joke my assumption was always that it was like school holidays or something like that, but I think it actually might've been a pandemic and they weren't able to go to school and so they had a lot of free days and that's why Ted was telling them these stories and so maybe that's why Jim don't exist in 2030 because they closed down, like gyms weren't around in 2020 or 2021 either because of Covid so that would make sense as to why they wouldn't know what a gem is or why they hadn't been to one in awhile, or maybe like I saidTed just introduced them to the gym because he doesn't really go to the gym, but who knows.
@@jeffreymark475 Actually i mean up till but not including 15 because even tho it has a fantastic guest star i still think its mid. Episode 16 is fantastic however.
@@Sokka-e8m Probably because of its Placement between some of the best episodes in the show. The Victorias-secret sequence is also painfully unfunny (even though i as a german can always appreciate Heidi klum) and the gym storyline has like 4 solid jokes. Overall just one of the few episodes that i skip on rewatch.

Fair assessment of the ep, it picks up from here!
Onwards from here is when every storyline matters IMO, but it is also soooo good!!!!
This show is so much better than I thought it would be going in
@@divinelangene6813 I feel like you can only appreciate it after the first watch
Joe is literally what Barney would have turned out to be if Shannon didn't happen

I mean yeah, of course it being exaggerates. This is Ted telling the story and clearly he hate the gyms, so he will tried to make it look bad.
you gave atlantic city ep a SIX??? insaneee
but fair ranking for this one!!

Up until 16 you mean? Because episode 16 is iconic. It's the episode we're all waiting for
