Watched this for my teacher friends and I plan on recommending it to them to pass on to their students, this was very insightful.

I will pass these on to my students looking to transfer! Thanks so much!

That's great, thank you! Yes my advice is very similar for transfer students and this will almost all apply, they just have one required question that freshmen applicants don't. Let me know if they have follow-up questions, or they can always post them here!

I would love to do that at some point! Would you be more interested in information about how to prepare for and complete the application itself, or how to make sure you are a competitive transfer applicant for top UCs?

The essay advice will be very similar! The main difference is just that you have to answer the required transfer question.

@@maiakrause Basically Both. I’m applying on this September. My GPA is around 3.75 - 3.8 .. I’m not sure it will be enough for a computer science major. Just need some help 😞😞

Great advice. Love the point about #6 if there is a subject you're passionate about.

are these tips similar for students are transfering from community college vs. from directly from high school?

For the most part, yes! For transfers, you have to answer the required transfer PIQ and then you wouldn't want to repeat that same information in another PIQ. Other than that, the rest of my recommendations are basically the same. You should just be focusing on things you've done in the last few years rather than in high school.

I want to write about the community one by being a camp CIT and being silly for the sake of children to have a great childhood but I want to link it to how my mother would be silly but educational to the children. How could I contact you to review this one 1st draft or give me advice on the draft?

I worked as a junior and senior in high school and spent a lot of time doing that, but I'm not sure how I would discuss that in a personal insight question or what prompt I would use to do so. Any suggestions?

That sounds like a great topic for a PIQ! If you worked at the same job for a significant amount of time, I would definitely consider #1; whether or not you officially managed anyone, there's a good chance you helped guide newer employees or contributed to group efforts over time. If you worked because you really needed the money, you could relate that to a challenge (#5) or educational barrier (#4) since it may have taken time away from your schoolwork. If you think you demonstrated certain talents or skills you have at your job, you could put it under #3, and if you feel like you used creative problem solving, it could go under #2. So there are lots of options really!
