EVERY waltz is 3/4 time; that has been the standard all over the world since the nineteenth century. It is really no mystery. This music evinces a total lack of taste.
Yes, they do use some of the classical melodies Notice their speeds are regulated that it could not be too fast nor too slow.. Ballroom needs the melodic flow that could fit with the steps and some classic melodies might be to complicated and all they need for competition is around 3 minutes to 4 minutes per song.

Of all the magnificent waltzes in the world: Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Offenbach -- why do they make them dance to this elevator music?
