  • The OS Base system is really intended to be installed on Enduro bikes with thin frames and rear plastics that cover the exhaust system. I ran into trouble even on my wr250r which you might consider an enduro type motorbike. I had to use alternative mounting points in order to make it work. I also could not find any videos online that showed how bags are attached to the system itself. In this video I go over my installation of the #OSbase and the #Strada7 bags I use. Thanks for watching #DriveOnLeft

    I just bought the OS-Combo 36 the other day, this will be handy for when it arrives, although I'll be putting it on my DR650

      Good systems, and you will have loads of space with the 36! The DR has lots of plastic real estate at the rear, should be easy to install.

    Nice video thanks! I have an old US-20 from Kriega which, as I now saw, should fit on there no problem. Time to get rid of the rack :-)

      That is exactly what I am contemplating. It would be good to know if you got it to work ok.

      @@chrishaywood2923 The US-20 works great with the OS Base. The hook loops of the bag are in exactly the right position to be threaded through the mounting slots for the OS-18. I also run the top strap through the loop on the base which is a bit difficult because the buckle is a bit too thick. I have a fake US-10 on the other side which does not have the hook loops sewn to the bag and it just sucks. So I think I‘ll replace that soon with an original US or OS.

      @@olivert.2374 thanks for replying. I actually took the plunge yesterday and fitted it last night. Like you say, they fit a treat. I wonder why no one says this. Glad I haven’t had to fork out on more bags when I already have some that work.

    Nice video mate. What were the main reasons that made you switch from rack system to the OS Base system? Lighter and less bulk?

    • @DriveOnLeft
      @DriveOnLeft  3 роки тому +1

      Weight was definitely a factor, I wanted to try loose a few kgs. Also I didn't like the fact that the panniers had to remain on the bike when I did harder rides when I wasn't camping. The Kriega system, I can take off in 1min. It also helps to keep the weight of the luggage forward and low, unlike the pannier rack.

    Great video. Do you reckon I can run any bag with the kriega supplied os straps onto this base? Will make this base a lot more versatile as opposed to just accepting the standard kriega bags. Am in the same boat as you, just don’t have the cash to splash around at the moment, no.

    • @DriveOnLeft

      As long as the distance between the mounting points somewhat match the Kriega base, I don't see why not. I think the Strada bags are pretty much a 1 for 1 copy in terms of dimensions, so they fit perfectly. Could even mount duffle bags to the kriega base, with the right straps.

      DriveOnLeft thanks. I think they key word is the right straps. Considering kriega sell these straps themselves, I wonder.

    Any chance you could do a brief review on the Strada 7 10L bags ? I'm about to buy this exact setup and just want to know how they've faired since you've owned them.
    I cant decide whether to stick with the 10L bags you have in this video or go for the 20L for the extra storage.
    even if you don't want to do a video if you could just share your thoughts on this comment that would be great, cheers.

      Hey mate, they are fine for what they cost. Buckles are a little cheap, I have replaced one already, but this is cheap and easy to do. I have dropped the bike in sand, and the bags have held up, but I would think the Kreiga would hold up better in rocky conditions if you had to drop them. Kriega is much better/tougher material. When I did the Mallee Loop I had approximately 10 kgs of weight in each side of the 10l bags, and I wouldnt want to put much more weight in them. Why not get the two 10s and 20, which they sell in a pack. Then you can always mount the 20 on the tail if you need more luggage?

      @@DriveOnLeft 20 ltr bags can be mounted on the same OS base? I'm from India and Kriega costs a kidney here. SO thinking of getting the OS base only and use some local waterproof 20 ltr bags.

    • @DriveOnLeft
      @DriveOnLeft  Рік тому

      I put the front straps on first around the frame. I made sure the bags would be as far forward as possible on the bike. I then attached the round silver mounts and marked where I wanted them on the fender. I tried to make the length as short as possible.

    Hi! Do u think this OS base can be used with Kriega's US 10 drybags? (Coz those are the ones I already have and I don't particularly want to shell out more coin for the OS bags!)

    • @DriveOnLeft
      @DriveOnLeft  3 роки тому

      Yes this would work. You would have to strap them down differently to the base though. Just some tie downs would work perfectly. I use this base on all my bikes!

    Did you consider the Enduristan Blizzards? I haven’t been able to decide between the two

    • @DriveOnLeft
      @DriveOnLeft  3 роки тому

      My mate has that system and likes it. I suppose the good thing with Kriega, is you can take the bags off the bike without taking the base off where as with enduristan, the bags are the mounting points all rolled into 1. Kreiga also gives you the option to run different sized bags on the same base system.

    • @skaragianis

      Great point about different sized bags. Thank you! I’ve been delaying because of size choices. Love the look of your bike btw. I have the same. Front is so sweet with those LED’s. Awesome setup
