Amen Chester. This video really needs to be spread around and be seen. So many people have it all so wrong and won't open their minds or even budge. They think that they know Chester. His feelings his thoughts as if they personally knew him. The band, and especially Emily have been put through so much in the past few months and this video proves that the behavior has been unwarranted and unfair. Like what they're doing, or don't like it. Everyone gets something different from music. It's fine and it's perfectly normal. Purposely going into their socials just to insult them and drag them down is plain wrong. Emily didn't go banging on the door begging to be in L.P. She was asked and took the opportunity of a lifetime. Can you blame her after all of the hard work she's done with her other band for 2 decades? Yet she gets attacked and insulted the most, just for taking a position in a big band. She's very respectful. She's not trying to be anyone else. She's being herself. What if you were in her shoes right now? Just think about that.
I think Emily is a great addition to the new Linkin Park line up and I genuinely think if Chester saw her live performance when he was still alive, he would have been proud.
not at all. On the contrary. It show that chester had a good heart. It renforces it. You do not understood what he's saying and you take only a piece of interview to say this. Take all of it or don't
@theorel265 I actually watched entire interviews with him where he spoke on the subject. He has clearly stated multiple times that a band is more than just its singer and bands should be allowed to continue with a different singer while using the same name. This is not taken out of context at all.
@@Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid I talked about other interviews. He also said about keeping the legacy. In fact I don't Care they keep the name . It's just a name. His legacy still remain. Emily won't be better so it's not my concern. It's a pity that she can't because LP was a great band and the best to my eyes.
@@dus10dnd Please do some digging and research. She has never once put that sht in her songs or pushed it on any fans. She was thrown in as a child, and wasn't treated well. Things she's done, said, and is are against Scientology. All she cared about was music. She's doing what she loves, respectfully.
@dus10dnd lmao without emotion? Have you seen her Waiting for the End and My December performances? Stop making stuff up to hate on her, it's getting ridiculous.
He would support her cause thats the kind of guy he was , Shes a great fit for NEW music. Nobody can cover the originals and give us that same feeling and connection we got thats all im saying .
Having grown up as a Slipknot fan and having been very close-minded about it in my early teen years, I confess I not only wasn't really a Linkin Park fan and did not give them much attention, but I was also rather prejudiced about them for several reasons. Hearing Emily sing their greatest hits live brought me to tears though, and brought my attention to them in a way I had never paid before. I'm really happy with what they're doing right now. She's great at both screaming and clean singing, and I think her mic just needs more bass when they're playing live. Their new album is pretty interesting to say the least, even though I'm not really hooked to all the tracks (two of them I enjoy are Casualty and the all-popular "Toothpaste" song lol!). And most recently I've been binge-listening to Hybrid Theory, which I had never listened to in full before - and how much had I been missing! Were it not for the curiosity of checking how they're doing and what their new singer sounds like on their classic songs, it would have taken me longer if ever.
In reality, Linkin Park is a place that still exists without Chester, Mike says so... he's the guy who built it and almost everything in it. Writing, producing, and performing in maybe 9 of 11 songs on every album. Like dude, Scott wasn't the only Stone Temple Pilot... Optimus wasn't the only Autobot... red ranger wasn't the only Power Ranger. I digress, but how we feel about lineup changes is insignificant. It is what it is, and you're either a fan/follower or you go listen to other music and watch other shows.
Very manipulative clickbait video. It starts with the narrator saying "he would have supported Linkin Park carrying on with Emily Armstrong (was pretty specific)" but to be fair that's a reach. He would have had no way of knowing that Emily would have been Mike's choice and much of what Emily stands FOR, Chester was against. So even while Chester would likely have supported LP moving forward without him, to say he would have supported any specific singer in his place, is a manipulative reach.
I think people who Think Emily should not be in the band go against what Chester believed. You can not like her singing but saying she doesn't belong in the band is just wrong. They are disloyal to the band. As far as the old songs go it takes a while to be able to learn all the those songs and people are judging her too harshly. Chester did not always sound good live
The title is misleading but I appreciate this compilation of interviews because it does show that Chester had the same mindset with regards to bands moving forward with new members. Not sure about that clip of Scott though, he sounded pretty bitter about things and called STP a "nameless band"...
Absolutely, he never suggested it. As a matter of fact, he talked about how awesome it was to be in two awesome bands at the same time. He also said, LP was the priority.
@dus10dnd Yeah absolutely. Chester's main loyalty was Linkin Park, even above playing for Stone Temple Pilots which was a dream of his. I wish videos like this would stop cropping up to give a false impression of Chester or his story.
Very true. Chester's opinion and feelings on the subject still apply though. He does in fact need to change the title though definitely. Not a good look.
@@horror-core I know what you mean though, the way Chester was talking about taking a step forward in a new direction while still honoring the past Stone Temple Pilots is verbatim how Mike Shinoda is describing Linkin Park's new direction

That reminds the time when Tarja left Nightwish. I as fan was so toxic to the new singer. But i learned from it how wrong it was. Olzon was lucky that Tarja was still able to support her.
Chester said : "it's totally understandable" so the fans have the right not accepting Emily. It's not up to him to know better than the fans themselves. But for me, it's not about accepting her at all or accepting. It's about her abilities to sing those songs. Everything is fine when it comes to use grunge, rock voices but not fry screams. I said it uncalculable times in many videos. Some agreed some don't but in the end, you just have to realise that if you listen to the others metal female singers, you must admit the truth. She's not good at all. And I repeat, not good at this kind of scream only. The rest is very good. We have the right to have expectations for our favourite band. It has to be perfect for our ears.
I respect the direction of the band because LP is Mike's project, whatever he chooses to do with it, he has the vision for what Linkin Park means. Expecting anyone to sing where Chester was is kinda insane, the past can't be forgotten but nobody should ever expect to replicate it. " And everybody that I talk to is like, "Wow Must be really hard to figure out what to do now" Well, thank you, genius, you think it'll be a challenge Only my life's work hanging in the fucking balance " This is a part of a song that Mike has done on his own in 2018, maybe you know it, maybe you don't, the album it's called Post Traumatic and it pretty much gives you a deep insight on all of this, somehow. I'm both a Mike and Chester fan, I've been following their side projects for quite a long time and most of it gave me a quite wide perspective on what music means and what was LP really about.
@@Gann4Life I hate hearing it's Mike's project like if the other members doesn't count. A band is made of multiple personalities who brings their own talents. Mike didn't create everything. Your claiming in other comment sections that Emily is replacing Chester which is evidently not true. Thats what the creator of this video obviously intended it to be. Its fine to say that Emily doesnt have the "vocal ability" to do the raw harsh vocals but at the end of the day, she has big shoes to fill and has already improved so much since they're first performance and its eventually going to get better by time
@Xcrv I like everything except the screaming. So it's not a vendetta against her. I Can make the bet with you today that AT the end of her tour, she will be exhausted and it will be worse AT everything. Do WE make a deal?
@ i have seen lots of videos of Chester struggling with his own songs!! So we dont have to place any bets and make it a competition (which you said earlier that this "isnt a competition" in another comment section). Emily is going to have a tired voice after the tour ofcourse, thats literally like every fucking singer ever lmao what point are you trying to prove here
That is complete bullshit, first of all if that was true, I'm pretty sure we would've heard about a story like that 10 years ago. Second. There's no evidence for ths. Third, I'm pretty sure Mike wanted to replace Chester intentionally with a female signer. Mike said it himself a few years ago. Can we stop pretending that the band cares about Chester and start addressing huge loopholes and logic gaps.
I would like to say something else : Chester said "not to be too focused on what was going on in the past" Ok It's a good point. But if the new singer cannot hundle this new path fully? Chester could sing in stone temple easily but Emily has some issues with the hard parts of old songs, so we are talking about the present and not the past.
